Our table is dismissed. I head back to gym with a full stomach, something that shouldn’t happen. Third block is the lunch block and the eighth grade special block. This shouldn’t happen and as principle the first change that would be in immediate effect would amend the schedule to be specials during first, second, and fourth block. This will cause improvements in health with gym being at least an hour away from lunch for the eighth grade; dietary habits considering people eat as minimal food as possible to preserve their stomach, and enthusiasm because students will see any change to the current schedule as a robust change. Not only are they respected experts in the health field, but they have a deep desire to improve the health and livelihood of others through empathy and education. Students in the DPT program should expect nothing less than to emulate the professionalism that people seek out in the PT field. Students should strive for a deep education and strong communication; demonstrating creativity, empathy, and altruism. I have been an employee for the Town of Richmond Hill for only a year now, which really surprises me because of how far I have come in this venture. From being a fellow student in swimming lessons, to taking lengthy, more advanced courses; I had finally reached my goal of being hired as a lifeguard/instructor near the beginning of grade 11. Little did I know, that was only the beginning of my journey that led up to me becoming a head coach of my own R.H.L.C team!
To be an Athlete in a professional league is an extremely hard feat to accomplish, you must work extremely hard to get there and once you’re in the league there is no guarantee that you can have a successful career. Professional Athletes have a certain image to pertain, because so many people watch athletes play on to. Athletes get frustrated and worked up easily having tried to keep their “perfect” image. Many times when an Athlete gets frustrated he takes his rage out on someone, this leads to abusing loved ones. Women typically are the ones involved in domestic violence in cases that involve athletes. Professional sports league lack little to any punishment for the athletes that commit this crime.
Coaches of sports teams in actuality are much too strict on their athletes, one reason being they can get carried away and abuse their athletes. According to Dr. Alan Goldberg “Coaches forget that the game is for the kids, people nowadays just want to win rather the be a good coach and teach their athletes” (Dr. Alan Goldberg, 2018). A connection to this is about a coach at a local high school in Indiana. He has been bullying his athletes calling them stupid and lazy, once a pediatrician heard about this she went into a practice trying to talk to the coach. Within ten minutes she realized that it was the coach talking to her and she was on the defensive side. If she can't even get to the coach, how can the kids? This is when coaching crosses
Children and teens face quite a strain on their social lives to partake in activities with drugs alcohol and illegal activities. Tensions in sporting events run high and the type of kid that is going to excel is the one with perseverance to do so. There is something about an athlete-The drive, the desire, the will to win- that. Gives them that determination to be the best they can be. Athletes are representing themselves, their schools and their teams every time they step onto the field, court or mat. The pressure is on to be the best of the best and to give 110%. When young athletes learn how to respect themselves coaches and the sports they play, they begin a better life. Athletics keep kids going in the right direction to a better future.
Have you ever wondered what student athletes are or what they exemplify? Student athletes are ordinary people like you and me, with the exception that they excel at sports and are given the opportunity to play while receiving an education. Societies believe these students are the most outstanding ones in their class. They are expected to have the highest grades as well as to be the best in their sport. I believe they go through a lot of hard work and tension to be able to play a sport while receiving an education. What many people do not ask themselves or do not even consider are the challenges they face to get to where they are. So, what are some of the challenges faced by student athletes? For this research paper, I will answer this inquiry by observing and interviewing several student athletes in various settings to get thorough information about their perspectives.
What motivated me to write about this event was that I wanted to let my audience know that you can overcome anything. I also wanted to entertain my audience as well as allowing them to visualize my story.
Students who participate in Athletics benefit in many ways from participating in sports. Whether it makes them a multi-task better, become a leader, or just improve as a person throughout. Athletes are constantly being coached and guided by a person who has been through their shoes and is far more experienced in life than the athlete. Studies show the importance of coaches to athletes “A qualitative analysis of the data revealed that the coaches perceived the enhancement of student athletes’ personal development to be an important part of their role” (Banwell and Kerr). With guidance from coaches comes with success from the athletes.
During the semester, I learned a lot on how to deal with psychological distress and how as an athletic trainer I should deal with athletes to overcome their situation and be there for them. Throughout my time as an athletic training student, I always liked to observe my preceptors on how they deal with athletics that are having psychological distress after injuries, and how as an athletic trainer I should handle these situations in a professional manner. There is one situation in particular that occurred during the King’s College football season that I would like to discuss.
I recognize myself as an extremely “fit” person; I exercise regularly, I eat healthily, and I am emotionally and mentally strong. These three aspects are how I define fitness. I look at fitness as a triangle: The three corners represent physical fitness, mental fitness, and diet, and the centre of the triangle is what I consider “superior fitness”. Even with the expansion of sports and more women athletes, there are higher obesity rates in the present day than back in the 70’s era.
