“Itinerary” by Eamon Grennan depicts that humanities’ progression is dependant upon their ability to experience fulfillment by breaking through the iron bars of their own insecurities and fears, thus seizing control of their ultimate outcome and in turn, their happiness. “The child in the corner with his eyes clenched” shutting out the world filled with fear and insecurity “like a dog going round and round” “trying to find some comfort, something that says [they are] at home now”, evokes pathos as deep down every person is at times afraid of the world, searching for belonging. Too often, trapped by their own anxieties, a person doesn’t realize the need to “pray for the enlarging hush of the owl’s ear, the hawk’s high wide-angle lens

After making the journey, Niko finds that his cousin is actually stuck in a cycle of debt and struggle and has been lying about his large mansion and beautiful women. After spending some time with Roman, Niko finds that his cousin is being harassed by local loan sharks. Niko must commit illegal activities for the loan sharks in order to eradicate Roman’s debt. As a result, he must enter the underground world of drugs and violence. Soon after, Roman discovers that his girlfriend is cheating on him with Niko’s boss, Vlad, and is heartbroken. When Niko confronts Vlad, he shows no remorse and Niko decides to take revenge on behalf of his cousin. Niko ends up killing Vlad which leads to both Niko and Roman being kidnapped and forced to work for Vlad’s boss. After this episode, Niko reveals to Roman that he did not actually come to Liberty City to visit his cousin; he came to seek vengeance against an army companion who betrayed Niko and left him for dead along with the rest of his company.
Realism is a literary movement stressing the depiction of contemporary life and society as it exists or existed. In this time period, many authors based their stories off of the materialism, Darwinism, and Marxism. Materialism is the belief of separating people based on their social classes. Darwinism is the belief of survival of the fittest meaning one species will always outlast another. Marxism is the belief of how money and class structure controls a nation. In this time period, authors began changing their style of writing into a more naturalistic way. In this style of writing, they make the universe unpredictable and make fate determined by chance. In addition, characters’ lives are transformed by their surrounding instead of their internal conflicts. In The Most Dangerous Game, Richard Connell uses modernistic and realistic ways of writing such as dominant mood, setting, and naturalism to criticize the realistic ideas of Darwinism, big game hunting, and Russian Civil War and its effect on people.
One of the greatest qualities of humanity is the ability to respond to the circumstances and surroundings one might find themselves in at any given time. Authors convey this quality into literature constantly with their novels and articles. “The Most Dangerous Game” is a realistic fiction short story written by Richard Connell. “The Most Dangerous Game” is a stunning short story on the human condition, the dangers of blood-thirsty hunters, and defining the true meaning of a civilized person. Connell’s wrote his novel during the time period wealthy individuals enjoyed hunting animals. TV shows, magazine articles, and even movies are based off Connell’s story. Another example of a novel that responds to the environment is James Hurst’s realistic fiction short story, “The Scarlet Ibis”. “The Scarlet Ibis” is a tragic, realistic fiction that describes the hazards of pride, the terrors of being disparate from others, and the qualities of true brotherly love. “The Scarlet Ibis” was written in the 1960’s when handicapped people were treated differently than normal people. An additional volume worth analyzing is Guy de Maupassant’s realistic fiction, “The Necklace”. “The Necklace” is a narrative about a covetous woman who dreams for impervious goals, and realizes that being prosperous is not always as elitist is as it is made out to be. In reality during periods of great danger or fear, humans occasionally experience a rush of adrenaline that allows them to accomplish otherwise impossible tasks such as mothers lifting cars off of their children. Therefore, the human condition has the ability to overpower common sense and control emotions when the situation at hand requires action.
For instance, Amir is a Muslim who is ashamed of his true identity whereas his nephew, Abe, embraces his religion and his heritance. Even though they are both Muslims, Amir`s narration of Islam is completely different than Abe`s, so they both stand for different groups. Amir`s ideology of being an American is to embrace American culture, name, religion, and values while his nephew believes that Amir should support his people and their “cause”. Another smart choice is to insert an African-American and a Jew character because they are also minority like Amir. One would expect that Jody and Isaac, members of different minorities who have suffered from different issues, such as slavery and genocide, would relate to Amir`s problem; however, they seem to judge him based on stereotypes just like anyone else. In contrast, Emily is extremely supportive, and amazed by Islam and its values. Therefore, Akhtar`s smart choice helps to understand so many different

With animals when we track them down and kill them is called hunting, but when we do the same activities to humans it is unlawful and considered murder. Truman’s journey began at a low point which gradually declined, then spiked at the conclusion of the film. In the beginning, Truman is depicted as a happy man living in a utopian world (as identified by the picket fences, friendly neighbourhood and “American dream” lifestyle). However, this world is superficially nice for Truman and he becomes restless, as seen when he pretends to be an explorer and says “maybe I feel like a teenager”, triggering his call to adventure and questioning of himself, justifying it as a positive event.

As it is commonly known, Hollywood tends to dramatize historical occurrences when it depicts events of the past. However, this does not mean that the movies they create are always historically inaccurate. Most of the time, the important details are kept and easy to relate to the events that actually took place.
The medieval knights templar were a devout military religious order that combined the roles of knight and monk in a way the medieval world has never seen before. Originally, they were known as the poor knights of Christ and the temple of Solomon or the knights Templar. St. Bernard regarded them as “new species of knighthood”. To him they were a unique combination of knight and monk. They were a fierce military unit devoted to christ and everything that christ stands for (wikipedia).

When I was around the age of 8 or 9, I read lots of books and realized it was so easy to be an author of a book. At that point of my life, I was convinced that I was going to be an author when I grow up. Throughout my life in elementary and middle school, I was given simple writing assignments that didn’t take much thought or research, making me feel as if the writing was effortless. I realized that when I entered high school, I would be writing papers that consisted of 5 to 6 pages long or longer and this would be challenging for me because of my weakness in writing.
