1. Privet plant and different species of the Asian carp fish depict two instances when non-native species which were introduced in Tennessee causing problems. Privet is a flowering plant native to Europe, Asia and North Africa (“Non-native Invasive Plants”). It has been introduced to grow as a hedge [boundary]. But, this plant once planted can take over the native plants and grow in dense groups. Commercial shippers in California could be concerned about the restrictions on Caulerpa because if the shipper’s business was importing the Caulerpa for home aquariums, then these restrictions could be loss of business.
5. Businesses in Tennessee should be concerned about the invasion of foreign species as it also impacts the revenue of the businesses. For example, a business makes profit by selling small aquarium fish species collected from a local lake/ river. If some non-native predator fish species were introduced into the lake/river, then the small aquarium fish numbers would decrease as they would become the diet of the foreign species, which results in less profits for the business.
6. I think most of the general population in Tennessee is not aware of the problem with these foreign species taking over the native species. If they were more aware, probably many would be take care or be sure of the potential side effects for foreign species. Some of the biological effects of introduced species on the Pacific coast would be food chain imbalance, taking over native species, and other native species being endangered as food and space become limited.
8. Some of the biological effects of introduced species in Tennessee would be ecosystem destruction which results in over population of certain species, raise of new diseases, food chain damage, native species competing for food and space.

1. Bio-terrorism is surely possible as it easy for someone to secretly introduce a foreign species.
2. If the codes and regulations of which foreign species can be imported into country are strict, then it would be not possible. But if they were not as strict, then it would be possible.
3. Some ways of bio-terrorism could include introducing foreign species or pests which can cause damage to agriculture which can result in decreased food production, resulting famine, other foreign species which can endanger or threaten the survival of the native species.

As if there weren’t enough problems for scientists trying to save the Great Lakes Eco System. Many non-native species have entered the eco system and many of them are harmful. Every species in itself has played a role in the eco system. These non-native species make it increasingly difficult for the Great Lakes Eco System to be regulated.
The invasive species, the Burmese Python has done irreparable damage to the Everglades National Park in Florida. A steady decline in mammals has been observed since the introduction of Burmese pythons occurred. Burmese pythons were first introduced into the United States as part of the pet trade which then led to the escape or intentional release out into the wild. The first notation of these species arriving was in the year 2000. However, within just eleven years this invasive species had done such a large amount of damage to Florida’s Ecosystem that many species had gone almost completely extinct.
The piece I chose to do my literary analysis on was the article, The Truth About Invasive Species, written by Alan Burdick. The article states that invasive species are all around us, but the area with the most prominent amount is the suburbs of Miami. It goes into detail about how abundant invasive species are in this area. Most people who would see a strange animal in their lawn or area would be bemused, however for the people of Southern Florida, this is a recurring scene. Burdick states that “virtually everyone in the South Florida, including Hardwick, has a neighbor with a backyard menagerie of lucrative critters on hold for resale”. Burdick describes both how an invasive species is introduced into an ecosystem, and the impact the have on other species upon their arrival.
This vegetation also provides much cover for fish. The aquatic plants provide a great source of food supply and act as a nursery for young fish (“Native” par. 5). Vegetation serves many purposes in fish habitat; besides keeping fish safe. It also helps keep the lakes clean. Aquatic plants cycle the water and help absorb pollutants. Another great benefit of these aquatic plants are that they help hold sediment and the banks of the lakes in place while providing oxygen into the water (“Invasive” par. 7-8). Unfortunately invasive species are destroying such vegetation. The Common Carp or “Cyprinus carpio” is one such fish that is causing great damages to lakes all around the world.
The efforts taking place through different conservation organizations and the State of Florida are making a mixed impact on the survival of Manatees and Sea Turtles. The decline in manatee population has decreased, but due to low reproduction rates, more needs to be done to avoid extinction. The sea turtle outlook is more species specific. Some species of turtle are seeing stabilization in population, while others are not. The State of Florida has a large array of custom license tags that support the conservation efforts taking place within the State. The proceeds go to benefit the local marine life in Florida. With financial resources, state and local cooperation, and through constant research and observation, we are able to learn more about both of these gentle animals. However, there are ways to correct the issues with the present system. If all 50 states and other countries around the world were to institute stricter regulations, such as those mentioned above, it would help make owning exotics safer. Animals like lions and puff adders have no place being in anyone’s home, but other animals like ball pythons and leopard geckos are reasonable. The most important thing that the authorities can do to help regulate the exotic pet trade and reduce the potential damage caused by it, is to educate the public. It is essential that people be involved in and aware of decisions that are being made. Especially decisions that concern their safety and that of the world around
Throughout the world, wild cats, reptiles and primates live peacefully in their natural habitats. Despite this, every year more and more of these exotic animals are becoming domestic pets. Keeping exotic animals as pets is unsafe and should therefore be made illegal. They pose a risk of injury, disease and invasion of the natural environment. Some people believe that keeping a pet does not pose a risk if properly kept and trained.

Bioterrorism has a long history in the health department because it is such a destructive weapon that can help you or it can kill you.
Invasive alien species are disrupting and changing the normal ecological functions of biomes, ecosystems, and the biosphere as a whole (CBD, 2009). They are a threat to biodiversity and can cause damage to, or even eradicate native species which natural cycles and other organisms depend on. Normally this type of warfare is used to get an advantage over your opponent. The scare of the possibility of someone who is capable of wiping out nearly your entire population in one fail swoop is enough most of the time to have a negotiation to resolve the issues you were having that caused things to get to BW. There are many dangers to BW, including but not exclusive to death, mass casualties, infection of our food and natural resources. This is a very scary topic seeing that we could fall victim to BW and not know until it is too late and we start showing signs.
