Description of the problem: According to go.nationalpartnership.org, white, non-Hispanic women in the United States, who hold full-time, year-round jobs, are typically paid just 77 cents for every dollar paid to men. To aggravate even more the situation for females, inside our own group, differences in wages based on ethnic and racial components also exist. Asian American women’s salaries show a 90 percent difference in comparison to white men’s earnings. The salary of African American woman on average is 64 cents and Latinas just 55 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. We all have the moral obligation to establish equal rules between each individual. In my project, I’ll aim convince companies that establishing equal salaries between man and woman will offer women an incentive to have even a better job performance and at the same time it will exhort man to maximize their efforts to stand out among their co-workers in the same range, which receiving the same salary, will all be treated the same. On the other hand, policy makers are also capable of establishing stronger incentives for employers to follow the law, enhance federal enforcement efforts, and prohibit retaliation against workers asking about wage practices. I am planning to shape my proposal to appeal to my target audience’s interest and knowledge by providing them with coherent thoughts and relevant data, which with percentages and comparative graphs will enhance the credibility of the text.
Initial Hypothesis: Although positive changes would be made by just enforcing existing laws, getting better informed, and taking action, the wage gap is far too entrenched for that. I am proposing to establish more unions representing women’s rights, underlying their issues in the work force, establishing work-family policies and in this way eradicating the gender segregation and differences that limit society from evolving on the pay

Now, the average woman earns anywhere from sixty to eighty percent of a man’s salary for the exact same job. Ranges vary depending on the specific career field. However, women of minorities remain stuck in injustice, systematic trends.
Though any pay disparity between women and men is a pressing issue, the “wage gap” is much more complicated than people believe because of misleading statistics, unaccounted for variables, and the different social and economic choices of men and women. White men had higher hourly earnings than all except Asian men in 2015. In 2015, average hourly wages for black and Hispanic men were $15 and $14, respectively, compared with $21 for white men. Only the hourly earnings of Asian men $24 outpaced those of white men. Among women across all races and ethnicities, hourly earnings lag behind those of white men and men in their own racial or ethnic group. But the hourly earnings of Asian and white women ($18 and $17, respectively) are higher than those of black and Hispanic women ($13 and $12, respectively) – and also higher than those of black and Hispanic men. While the hourly earnings of white men continue to outpace those of women, all groups of women have made progress in narrowing this wage gap since 1980, reflecting at least in part a significant increase in the education levels and workforce experience of women over time. White and Asian women have narrowed the wage gap with white men to a much greater degree than black and Hispanic women. For example, white women narrowed the wage gap in median hourly earnings by 22 cents from 1980 (when they earned, on average, 60 cents for every dollar earned by a white man) to 2015 (when they earned 82 cents). To resolve the gender wage gap, the government should consult with employers in federally-regulated sectors to apply a gender-based analysis to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of the policy. The law should clearly outline the systematic discrimination that women face in the workforce. This policy would entail employers to determine whether gender-based disparities exists and reevaluate the current pay system from an equity perspective to ensure and promote pay transparency. The law of ensuring pay equity should first be applied to the public sector, including federal public servants, employees of Crown cooperation and federally regulated companies. After this law has been found to be effective, it is also recommended that private corporations follow the same suit and comply with the pay equity

After some research, we think it’s not fair that women make less than men who have the same education and the same job. In the long run, it can make it hard for women to support their families. In today’s society, it is an understatement that women have come a long way from earlier generations in achieving gaining equal rights with men. Gender roles have evolved greatly throughout history; women can even be known as the breadwinners. However, discrepancies still exist when it comes to equal pay for equal work. This issue has the potential to have an impact on all women including myself, as I hope to one day join the workforce and become a financially independent businesswoman.
