Arthurian Legends: Merlin the magician Arthurian Legend has many characters, and many stories. Arthurian Legend was centered around the legendary king Arthur. Many stories were written about king Arthur's birth and the adventure of his knights. Arthurian legend ends when king Arthur is killed in a fight and his kingdom is destroyed. Merlin is one of the characters written about in Arthurian Legend. Who is Merlin? Merlin is known for his mysterious and magical character. He was created by Geoffrey of Monmouth to be king Arthur's advisor, he was also a prophet. He was the last of the druid, the Celtic Shaman, priest of nature, and keeper of knowledge. Merlin had a very big impact on king Arthur’s life. Merlin believed that raising King Arthur in secret was for the best. Merlin feared that when king Uther who was Arthur’s father dies, that there would be a big argument on who should Become the next king. Merlin as a wise man came up with a plan. His plan was to use his magic and set a sword in a stone, and who ever could pull out the sword would become a king. Merlin also put a spell on the sword, and this allowed noone to pull out the sword except Arthur. Arthur pulled the sword out for a tournament he was in, and thus he became the worthy king to rule England. …show more content…

He helped king Vortigern figure out why the walls of his castle were collapsing. he was Uther's advisor, and helped him move the Stonehenge using his magic. He helped Uther in marrying Igraine, and later she gave birth to Arthur. Without Merlin king Arthur would have never existed. Merlin set forth the things needed for Arthur to become king.
