The value of art, both personal and monetary; the hard work of great art is very self- rewarding and gives a great sense of accomplishment. Born in 1910, Frida was a woman that was not about preserving young beauty. She loved to acquaint herself with Mexico, where she was born. Being a great painter, she loved to paint pictures of herself. A quote by her is as follows “I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best”. In other words, she can paint and feel free, because she knows herself well and can paint the
Vincent Van Gogh’s painting was created in 1889 and titled Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear. In contrast to Vincent Van Gogh’s self-portrait, Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait was painted in1944 and titled The Broken Column. Although both artists used the same medium, oil paint, and expressed themselves similarly, they represent themselves in very different ways to feature their individual styles. The artists had both dealt with physical and psychological pain that had greatly influenced their art and allowed them to express their inner emotions. Vincent Van Gogh uses color and the texture in his brushstrokes to express emotion, while Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait uses a variety of colors and is more expressive through the use of objects and symbols to state the emotional intensity of her work. In their artwork they reveal their cultural contents as well as their time periods, how their individual styles were developed, and the events prior to the

The tragic event left Kahlo in a world of unbearable pain and also boredom. It was during her bed-ridden recovery where she took up the practice of painting, with herself as the subject. Her mother had made her an easel to paint in bed, where she developed her skills of painting. Her first self portrait, “Self Portrait in a Velvet Dress”, was her first serious piece which she painted in 1926. She painted it as a present to her boyfriend, Alejandro Gomez Arias. The artwork was fairly muted in colour and was quite a traditional European-style artwork. But, as Kahlo continued painting her works transitioned from the acade...
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” - Thomas Merton. Art is a huge influence on the minds of children. It plays a big factor in the way children want to learn. Art keeps they're minds open to imagination and keeps them interested in learning new things. Kids are more interested in learning when there is some kind art involved. They have an unbelievably great memory and seeing or drawing pictures helps them retain things a lot better than they would if it was just told to them. It is used in all subjects in school because these are obvious and known facts. Art can heavily influence math, science, and literacy. Children with disabilities or have trouble concentrating can use art as an outlet. When they get mad, give them some paint and a paint brush. Taking out they're frustrations on a piece of paper rather than on themselves could result in a masterpiece and could reveal an amazing talent hidden beneath they're frustrations.
In this case analysis, I will be discussing the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. In her film, Frida exhibits signs of post-traumatic stress disorder and alcoholism. I plan to explore her clinical difficulties through a cognitive-behavioral lens, as well as a psychodynamic lens. Frida Kahlo was born in 1907 in Mexico City, Mexico. Her father was a German photographer and artist that immigrated to Mexico to escape Nazi persecution, and her mother had indigenous roots in Mexico. Frida is one of four daughters, which meant she grew up primarily around women. When she was just six years old she contracted Polio, which left her right leg thinner than her left. She was often bullied for limping because of her leg; as a solution, Frida wore long
She faced several extreme physical and psychological challenges in her lifespan. Around the age of six, contracted polio, it caused her to be bedridden for nine months. While she did recover from the illness, she limped when she walked because the disease had damaged her right leg and foot. Her father encouraged her to play soccer, go swimming, and even wrestle highly unusual moves for a girl at the time to help aid in her recovery. After a couple of later when she was traveling with her boyfriend on a bus when the vehicle collided with a streetcar. Because of the collision, Kahlo impaled by a steel handrail, which went into her hip and came out the other side. She suffered several serious injuries as a result, including fractures in her spine and pelvis. After staying at the Red Cross Hospital in Mexico City for several weeks, Kahlo returned home to recuperate further. She began painting during her recovery and finished her first self-portrait the following year. Frida Kahlo marry to famed Mexican muralist Diego Rivera (Frida Kahlo Biography,
Throughout the ages art has played a crucial role in life. Art is universal and because art is everywhere, we experience it on a daily basis. From the houses we live in (architecture) to the movies we see (theatre) to the books that we read (literature). Even in ancient culture art has played a crucial role. In prehistoric times cave dwellers drew on the wall of caves to record history. In biblical times paintings recorded the life and death of Christ. Throughout time art has recorded history. Most art is created for a specific reason or purpose, it has a way of expressing ideas and beliefs, and it can record the experiences of all people.
The arts have influenced my life in amazing ways. Throughout my life, art has been the place I run to and my escape from the world. As I’ve grown older, art has become so much more than that. Every piece of art I create is a journey into my soul. It’s a priceless way to deal with my emotions and my struggles. I create art not only because I enjoy it and because I want to, but because I have to. Somewhere deep inside there is a driving force, urging me to put my heart down on paper. I become emotionally attached to each of my pieces because they are like dashes on the wall marking my growth. Each one is the solution to a problem I have dealt with and overcome.
