Teen Activism
Teen activists stand up for what they believe. They see their goal and want to achieve it. But what lies in the way is full of haters, and problems. The thing with these activists is that they laugh at their haters and don’t let them take them down. Their goal doesn’t come easy, but with many sacrifices and dedication. Take Alex Lin, Malala, and Zach Affolter for example, they fought for what they believed. Like all teen activists, they been through thick and thin, sunny and rainy days, but they didn’t stop. Malala is a fighter. She had a belief that all girls and boys should go to school. Sense she grew up in Birmingham, Pakistan, girls and boys were not allowed in school. She followed her dream of having all kids go to

Like Alex Lin. He wants to make the world a cleaner and safer place by getting rid of all e-waste. For those of you who don’t know what e-waste is, e-waste is electronic waste. He finds old electronics that nobody is using, and turns them into something new whether it is using the parts, or refurbishing whatever it is, he does his best to get rid of e-waste. Today Alex has recycled 300,00 pounds of e-waste. Sense he is only a 16 year old, he dreams to make his ideas evolve by time he gets older. He says he would love for Apple and Samsung to join along with him to make the world cleaner, but they haven't. Like I said with Malala, all teen activists stand up for what they believe. Alex didn’t get let down when Apple and Samsung didn’t join along with him, he thrived on it. He did not give up. And today the world is already cleaner and safer. If he were to give up, then all e-waste would have polluted our world even worse. The reason why e-waste is so bad is because it can affect the air, along with the sea. The electronics grow old after a while and sometimes give off a deadly fume. This can get into the air and hurt all of us. When e-waste gets into water, it can kill anything living in that water. So we should stand up with
Malala Yousafzai is a girl from the Swat Valley who started the fight for education for Pakistani girls. She was born in a place where girls are hidden away and boys are celebrated, but she wanted to change all that. Out of all of the stages of the hero journey, Malala’s journey along with her return from darkness help depict her as a hero to men, women, and children around the world.
Writer, political activist, and feminist Malala Yousafzai once said, “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen, can change the world.” Education is not a luxury, but rather a basis for survival; sadly, thirty-one million females ages five through eleven are not in a primary school and seventeen million of these females are expected to never enroll in school (Education). Malala Yousafzai fought, and is currently still fighting for education rights for women and children (Van). Malala Yousafzai defied a law which she determined unjust and was prepared to pay the ultimate price: her life. Due to Yousafzai’s personal beliefs, she choose to participate in civil disobedience by protesting the ban on education. Malala Yousafzai was successful in her actions through the use of peaceful protest. Yousafzai committed an act of civil disobedience in the eyes of the Taliban. Civil disobedience is defined as peace protest that violates a law intentionally (Suber). In addition to
Malala started her heroic journey when she started blogging under a pen name “Gul Makai” how life is with the Taliban for the BBC. She knew that by doing this she was taking a risk, but for her, the risk was worth it if she could get girls to have an education. She was able to go back to school when
Malala is only one of the million children suffering and wanting to change the world for the better, except when everyone else was scared to speak up, she did. It’s nearly impossible to say how she changed the world in one sentence, but I’ll try. She was an unknown hero for years and finally she is known worldwide, finally rights for education is an everyday topic, finally the world isn't silent anymore about how the Taliban are treating women and finally we can hear her voice, loud and clear, telling us how and what we should do to have a better future and that’s how I think Malala Yousafzai has changed the world.
Teen activists are inspiring and helpful. They are the ones who are determined to make a difference in the world. They are the ones who never give up on their dreams and hopes. Through their thoughts, sacrifice, determination, and their inspiring heart, they make the world happy, so everyone can live equally. Three teen activists, Malala Yousafzai, Alex Lin, and Iqbal Masih, use their personalities and inspiration so that they can stop unfair education, pollution, and child labor. They are willing to sacrifice to help the world and change history.
American teenagers are often criticized for being irresponsible and immature. Some in the older generation will also state that kids are taking too long to move out of the house. These views of young adults are pessimistic and demeaning to the current generation. While the adolescent stage has been extended, American kids are taking an ample amount of time to accept the responsibilities of becoming an adult.
“Her primary cause – securing Pakistani girls’ access to education” Education was hard especially for females and Malala helped change that even if she would have to face consequences to which she did. “Malala has become perhaps the worlds most admired children’s-rights advocate, all the more powerful for being a child herself.” At only 14 years old, mala stood up for the females and even got shot, and then survived which helped make it the big cause that it was. Malala Yousafzai’s actions in Pakistan went worldwide to get the support and followers to be the leader she is still to this
...faced was fighting with my seven siblings over the bathroom before school in the morning. I, along with many other people my age, take living in America for granted. We have simple amenities like running water, roofs over our heads, freedom to speak our opinions, and a great education system to help enhance our ever growing minds. We have it made in America compared to some in less fortunate countries, who don’t even have a tenth of the comforts we do. After hearing Malala’s struggles, I, albeit being older than her, look up to her for words of wisdom. She has taught me that age doesn’t determine wisdom, life experiences do. She has also taught me that speaking up against injustices is the only way to rise up against them. “Let us pick up our books and our pens, they are our most powerful weapons. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.”
Being shot in the face and seriously injured, did not stop Malala Yousafzai from pursuing her dreams. She did not morally agree with her government’s treatment of women, so she fought for her beliefs. Malala grew up in a rural village in Pakistan and was forced to follow customs she did not believe in. Swat Valley changed to a strictly ruled village with discrimination towards women. Malala created awareness around the world of the situation and stood up for her rights to education.
The bombing of a church in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963 resulted in the death of 4 young girls. Dudley Randall was able to call upon this as inspiration and thus created his masterpiece “Ballad of Birmingham.” This in addition the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, “fueled his commitment to civil rights.” (Randall Headnote 37) In Randall’s poem, the importance of one playing an active role in society to help shape the future is explored; through the actions of a small girl. Ironically suggesting that revolutions in society which are meant to better the future for youth, affect these youth negatively. Implying that such trauma causes a loss of innocence among the society’s youth, destroying the future stability of a society. Through his symbolism and imagery, Randall is able to show the message of hope and innocence lost by tragedy.
Elizabeth Wong, born and raised in Chinatown in Los Angeles, grew up rebelling against learning Chinese and the Chinese culture. When she was in grade school, she was embarrassed because she could not do things fourth/fifth graders would normally do such as pretend to hunt ghosts or go on a search for animal bones with her friends. Instead she and her brother were forcefully dragged by their mother to Chinese school. Kids do not just grow up knowing they don’t want to take part in their heritage; it just happens. Many adolescents nowadays seem to be revolting against their heritage, causing the parents to enforce it onto them. And even when they are older and by luck, or persistence, are granted a ‘cultural divorce’, they are still surrounded by it every day causing them to feel as if they never really made a complete transition. It’s understandable that parents want their children growing up within the same cultural environment but some kids grow up believing that who they want to be, isn’t who their parents want them to be. Causing
Since she was 11 years old, Malala has been writing a blog on the Urdu BBC website to show her hope and determination to become a doctor in spite of her fear against the Taliban. Her story of courageous actions created a big sensation in the public(weird grammar). From then on, she is referred to as a symbol of courage and inspiration for all young women, who want to relish the chance to go to school.
The concept of activism is rarely understood by any “normal” citizen. The donation of one’s time towards a certain cause or belief has always been envied by the working class citizen who feels it is important to give back, but is pushed away when those good intentions go bad such as when “non-violent” protests or speeches turn reckless. With an intuition of activists having to be heard through harsh acts, for example the demolition of bridges, billboards or aqueducts, their cause is usually overlooked; their actions are looked down upon as people with internal rage. We must ask ourselves if they are using activism as an excuse to vent out their personal anger. Rather than activists causes being the center of the attention they receive, the ill-mannered way they go about trying to solve problems have become the subjects focus.
Malala Yousafzai, a women's right activist and one of the bravest women in the world. Malala is a hero that stood up for what she believed, that all women should have equal education. She sacrificed her life when she was shot in the head by a Taliban just to get her point across. ¨I am only talking about education, women's rights and peace. I want poverty to end in tomorrow´s Pakistan. I want every girl in Pakistan to go to school,¨ said Malala Yousafzai. She's an amazement because she wanted to modify the world by making women have equal education and rights. Malala also wanted to end penury in Pakistan for a better life with good economy. On October 9th, 2012, Malala was shot in her school bus for speaking out that women should be equal in education as men. Even though she almost risked her life,
Why do teenagers rebel against their parents? Teenagers rebel against their parents because they lack their parents’ love and they start to build up resentment. (Bucknell) As they are growing up, they are developing their minds and trying to adapt to their surroundings. Despite some negative thoughts about teens, many create their sense of rebellion due to the lack of ideal parents. They begin to think for themselves and go down the wrong path without the right guidance. For instance, without the right guidance the teenager feels that they are the adults in every situation and they know what is right and what is wrong. They begin to develop habits that will later lead to unsuccessful situations. During teenage years, many are going through
