Illegal Immigration

The number of undocumented immigrants has occupied about thirteen percent of the total population in America. When individuals migrate to the United States, their presence leads to both positive and negative results. Although the number of documented migrants has significantly increased, the amount of illegal immigrants in America is leading to horrific crimes. The number of impending crimes in the country is expected to increase as the number of undocumented immigrants increase. The loss of employment, increased amount of terrorism, stolen taxpayer money, and limited natural resources in the country are all current and possible effects that illegal immigrants possess.

The migration of these immigrants are causing a variety of issues in America. When the United States does not have legal documentation of certain individuals, problems arise. If the existence of someone is unknown, that allows easier access to terrorism in our country. When terrorism strikes in America, citizens begin to fear for their safety and lives. This ongoing issue is drawing Americans away from living in the United States. Since Americans are fearing for their safety, they are moving away due to a political push factor. ALIPAC (Americans for Legal Immigration PAC) stated, “. . .illegal immigrants are stealing over 125 Billion dollars worth of American taxpayer resources each year.” On average, residents in the U.S. are paying about $14,000 per year through their taxes. About twenty seven percent of their total income is given back to the government through taxing. The major problem arising from this is that undocumented immigrants are not paying taxes. The majority of immigrants coming into America are from Mexico. Although most of these individuals are receiving proper documentation and are legal citizens, about sixty percent of them are unauthorized coming from Mexico. There is currently a wall on the border of America and Mexico but the wall only covers roughly thirty percent of the border. The remaining two thirds of the border is watched over by hundreds of border patrol police. The police are mainly centered around major cities near the border such as Tucson and San Diego. Often times police men and women are not enough to restrain unauthorized immigrants from entering the country. Building a wall will decrease the chance of an individual attempting to sneak into the United States. The wall will decrease the risk of an officer getting injured while on the job and creates and intervening
