Arguments Against Homelessness

Across the world, homelessness is a big argument and topic being talked about. In today’s society, nobody knows whether to help the homeless or not. However, many people feel as if homelessness is an occupation/choice, but is it?! Homelessness is a very touchy topic/argument because there can be negatives and positives to it. There a millions of homeless people sitting on the corner of our streets. What many Americans, tourists, and pedestrians don’t know is that many homeless people aren’t actually homeless. There are many scammers, however there are many homeless people whom stay true to their label. In my defense, I’m against helping the homeless. I don’t mind helping the homeless, but as long as they are in actual need of shelter or supplies

Most homeless people are very greedy and don’t care about others. It’s either their way or no way at all. Many homeless people are also lazy and don’t want to deal with adult responsibilities. Homelessness is more of an option in today’s society. The poor could find ways to work but choose not to because begging for money doesn’t take much effort and the government don’t take taxes out of their earnings. Faking homelessness only costs a day of humiliation or embarrassment. According to, (Villano, 2013) “If you’re opposed to giving the homeless money because “They’re going to buy drugs,” then maybe you should consider to buy them a coffee or a sandwich.” I don’t believe that always works though. “Helping people is about the act itself, not judging who is and is not worthy of receiving it,” (Villano, 2013). I agree with this statement but it also frustrates me. There has been times where my dad and I had went out of our way to help a few homeless people such as buying them a meal and they had insisted that we should just give them money.
