Abortion is a controversial topic that is not often brought up. Many people are for or against it and have strong feelings. Some states including Arizona have passed laws that can prohibit a woman from having an abortion, other states allow legal abortions. Over time, these laws have caused a lot of controversy. Pro-abortion supporters think the laws limit a woman’s power of making a choice for herself. “Pro-life” or antiabortion people say abortion is murder. America’s first abortion regulation was enacted in Connecticut of 1821 (ChicagoTribune). This was the first law, and just the start of many, that continued to prohibit women from getting legal abortions. One law that stands in Arizona says that an abortion request by a minor must be made with parent consent (Arizonacourts). Enacted in 2001, a minor cannot get an abortion without the written consent of her parents, guardian, or conservator. After having an abortion, there are many mental, physical, and emotional side effects (American Pregnancies). Mentally women may feel guilty, they might regret the procedure. These side effects may not last forever. The side effects that will last a while are physical. Many patients experience abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, vomiting, damage to other organs, and perforation of the uterus. Regular trips to the doctor can help eliminate these side effects in a short period of time. The last side effects are emotional, which are a lot like mental. Some side effects are feeling angry, or experiencing loneliness. Although there are many side effects none of them are permanent, and by preforming a safe abortion, these women can experience little or even no side
