Kids Should Have Less Homework
Brennan ishinaga p6
When you were a kid have your homework ever driven you insane! that makes you say aww forget it it's too much. Well most kids are having the same problems. Kids should have less homework because they're too stressed out according to cnn news in the article homework debate “I think elementary students spending 6 to 7 hours in school is enough they should be outside playing” but others say that what they get is not enough homework. Some say that they made their own homework to keep them challenged. They say because there kids are struggling and need improvement “But if a child is struggling more homework is not the key to improvement,” Because few kids have parents at home that help them with their homework and that schools need things to make sure the student is able to learn and know clearly whatever the subject is. But they say that the ten minute rule is that every grade they get 10 minutes of homework like first grade gets 10 minutes and second grade gets 20 minutes and so on but according to cnn news a survey has showed that first graders been spending 28 minutes on homework every night and in second grade 29 minutes which is wrong from the 10 and 20 minutes recommended. Which does prove that kids in schools are getting over the amount

parents get even more stressed when their child gets sick from not sleeping physical health and mental health changes and will give them stress and affect their life
A problem with elementary students having homework is that their parents end up doing it just to get it over with. According to today.com there was a rule established by the National Education Association that limits the amount of homework any age kid, especially elementary should have to do. This is called “the 10 minute rule.” Kindergarten students should not get homework but first graders gets 10 minutes, second graders gets 20 and so on. This rule has been broken by teachers giving kindergarten students almost as much homework as a third grader should have. Because this rule is so often broken, parents are forced to step in and help their kids so they don’t look back on their life as all I did was homework.
Many people often say that students, teachers, and parents, think homework should be banned, but multiple people disagree. This heated topic has been debated for many years. Some parents and teachers think students have too much. However, some believe their students receive too little. Few schools already have banned homework, but the majority of schools don’t. Some people agree with having ten minutes multiplied by the grade level of the student. As experts continue adding additional facts about homework, it is clear that homework can help students in different ways.
Homework is just busy workand, that we get after school hours by the time we are finished we are ready for bed to start the routine again. We get all this work and we can’t even do what we want because we have all this work after school to get finished before the next day .Go on the wedsite and read why there is no pont of homework http://www.trentinternational.org/reasons-why-homework-should-be-banned-at-schools.
This is what goes through the head of a teenage girl after a tough day at school. Teachers are giving out assignments left and right and she doesn’t know what to do. She is already working hard trying to do a sport, maintain a part-time job, care for her household, and have fun with the little time she has to herself. She says homework just adds to her stress and she doesn’t think she can keep this up any more. Although it may seem harmless, too much homework can affect a student’s performance in school, cause depression and anxiety, it gives teachers more work, and to a certain extent, it isn’t necessary.
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
Have you ever wanted to just shred up your homework or throw it out the window and have no consequences? Kids are assigned daily homework from the time they start kindergarten at the ripe young age of five. Is it really necessary? Does it even help better learning or even higher test scores? The amount of homework we do wastes time, money, paper, and trees because it’s practically the exact same thing we did in class that day. Homework causes kid’s and teen’s frustration, tiredness, little time for other activities and possibly even a loss of interest in their education. It also keeps everyone up; it has kids and teens staying up until they finish it, the parents trying to help them and the teachers grading it. So, I think that homework is a waste and kids and teens should choose whether they want to do their homework for extra credit and practice or not.
If students are so burned out from 6 to 7 hours of school, plus 3 hours of homework just creates students not to sleep, eat, or exercises. All because homework tires students. Students feeling burnt out is one of the many reasons homework should not be
Sometimes as teenagers and immature we forgot that old people have lived and been through what we are going through as a teen. Therefore we never take their advice. I agree with all teachers and they should not reduce the amount of homework they assign that is good for our future like you always say Mr. Camacho, as old and wisely people our teachers will never do something that will not affect us nor our future that is what makes me be disagree with some students and I think that is good for us to have homework that will help us on our success. Teachers become teachers for a good reason because they studded really hard to be where they are. I believe that one hour is not enough for a teacher to teach and for a student to learn. Teachers already know what it is to have a lot of homework; they may just want to prepare us for things that are coming such as college and jobs. Assigning homework is a good way to keep
Every new school year that begins teachers, parents, and student are under the pressure of being successful and every year we try something different a change to make the school better. Theres pressure because of all the rule changes and requirements. One of the changes that can make us a better school is having little homework or no homework at all. People can agree that it is way too much homework on our hands. Teachers are trying to get through lessons fast trying to show through grades and paperwork showing what we learned. There are people that say that there isnt any evidence to show us that homework helps students achieve things, too much of it can overwhelm students and cause them to disconnect from the purpose of school. On the other
Over the last several decades there has been a lot of controversy over how hardworking kids were in the past compared to today. In the past there was significantly less technology, so kids had to do more labor to achieve the same results, but even though they did more work for the same tasks, but nowadays kids are expected to do more work. Kids have always done lots of work, no matter what generation they were raised in, it has always been expected for them to help with chores and other duties. Nowadays kids are more hardworking than they were in the past because they have more responsibilities, this is due to kids being given more responsibilities, being assigned significantly more homework than in the past, and young entrepreneurs who are willing to work hard for all of their goals.
Homework is way to stressful for kids who already have enough to do at school, so why give them work to do at home that just adds on to the headache Known as work? Teachers give out homework because they think it is helping kids education. What they don’t know is that the work they are giving out just overwhelms students who don’t know how to do that work. It also means that some students could possibly be getting bad grades for things that they don’t understand. This is very important to my claim because if we have less homework none of these things will happen to students who don’t understand the topic. What can take more experienced students 5-10 minutes can take others longer time periods to complete the work given. giving students less homework you should receive better quality homework. That paragraph should
First graders should have as much as 10 minutes of homework and seniors should have two hours of homework a night. Both the National Education Association and National Parent Teacher Association support that limit(Weir). Two hours seems like a lot of homework but in recent studies done students are averaging three to four hours of homework a night. With two hours a night students are averaging 10 hours a week, three hours students are averaging 15 hours a week and students with four hours of homework a night have 20 hours of homework a week. Robert Pressman, PhD, and colleagues recently investigated the 10-minute rule among more than 1,100 students, and found that elementary-school kids were receiving up to three times as much homework as recommended(Weir). That is a lot of work and not all of it benefits students.
Have you ever complained about having too much homework? Teens all around the world are constantly piled up with homework to do overnight, that teachers expect to be done the next day. I believe that this generation receives too much homework for three main reasons. Those being that too much homework causes illness, and each grade should have ten minutes per grade level a night, but others say it might test our knowledge.
The 2013 American Psychological Association survey, for example, found that 45 percent of U.S. schoolchildren were stressed-out by school and homework was the leading cause (Boccella). Alfie Kohn, who wrote The Homework Myth: Why Our Kids Get Too Much of a Bad Thing a decade ago, argues, too much homework can cause considerable harm, raising levels of frustration, anxiety, and family tension while robbing time for imaginative play and outdoor exercise, and most importantly crushing the potential to get excited about learning (Boccella). Anne Heffron, principal of Merion Elementary in Lower Merion, said, “ I think sometimes homework is a bigger stressor for parents than for the kids” (Boccella). It doesn’t help that a D students are expected to do the same work as an A
Teachers should limit the about of homework given each night. We shouldn’t have any homework. We work all day on the lessons in school, so why do we have to do more work when we get home? It is also hard to do homework without teacher support. Many times, there’s no payoff to do homework.
