It was a normal day in Mexico city for most people but not for Top Flight. He is the best pilot around. His father , Jeffery Bob Flight died just one month before he got the phone call that may have changed his life forever. It was the president of the U.S.A. , Franklin Roosevelt. “Hello, Mr. Flight.” Said the president. “Hello, Mr. president.” said Top. Top was ecstatic , the president needed top for a dangerous and important mission. “O.k I’ll cut to the chase. You are the best pilot in the world and well…” the president said. “ You need my help, I got that.” said Top “Yes, we have a plan to stop Leafler for good but we need a skilled pilot” the president said. “With all due respect sir I haven’t touched a plane in years.” Top Flight said with hesitation at first because he knew that he had not touched a plane in years. “I have a feeling you could do it.” said the president. Although this was true the president was determined to have Top Flight help him because he knew he was the only one who could. “Fine I’ll go.” said Top. “Meet me at the mexico city airport tomorrow at 7:00 A.M.” said the president.
So Top accepted the call to action and made a sandwich. Since they had to meet a 7:00 at

The Leafzies (Leafler’s soldiers) took this as an advantage. We were almost to Germany and the enemy Leafzie soldiers in their planes opened fire on us. They were firing RPGs at our plane so Chuck jumps onto the plane to bat away the rockets with his fists very diligently. That bought us some time so Top began to land. He knew it wasn’t the best landing that he had performed but it had to do. Once they were on the ground they saw tall trees everywhere around us and thanks to Top Flights great agility while piloting the plane they made it to the ground without hitting a single tree which was a miracle. The enemy pilot was obviously not near as skillful because they tried to land and crashed into a
Tom Wolfe explains that a career in flying was like climbing one of those ancient Babylonian pyramids made up of a dizzy progression of steps and ledges, a ziggurat, a pyramid extraordinary high and steep; and the idea was to prove at every foot of the way up that pyramid that you were one of the elected and anointed ones who had the right stuff and could move hig...
The novel Flight by Sherman Alexie is a story about a time traveling Indian foster kid who goes to shoot up a bank, but instead he gets transported through time and receives valuable lessons on how to deal with his main issue of abandonment. Every time he leaps into a new body the lessons get progressively difficult. Yet when he jumps into the last body, he must face the person that he blames the most, his father.
In the novel Flight by Sherman Alexie, Zits, a teenage boy, goes through many cycles of betrayal, abuse, and abandonment. This causes him to lose trust in others, and resort to violence and crime to deal with the battles in his life. He moves from foster home to foster home, running away from each one, he ends up in jail multiple times and allows himself to get manipulated by the people he trusts. After committing a mass murder which ultimately ends in his death, he shifts through multiple bodies leading to a deeper understanding of himself. The scene in which Zooey, Zits’ aunt, and her boyfriend abuse him every night develops the theme that trust can be lost and is hard to regain by showing Zits’ loss of trust in others after his aunt
It’s a Sunday afternoon and the whole family is over at grandmother’s house playing a fun game of pickup baseball until they realize they do not know how to hit a baseball. Luckily it is a rather simple process that can easily be taught and learned.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.
He talks about everything from learning to fly to going on dangerous missions and being captured. He shares the excitement and dangers of flying, the strong bonds among his fellow crew members, and the difficulties they encountered during wartime, such as being shot down and navigating enemy territory. His story gives a sense of what it was like for a frontline airman during wartime. His conclusions revolve around exhilaration and difficulties of flying and the feeling of freedom experienced at lower altitudes with little danger. While still remaining a reliable source, this source does contain bias, including generalizations, opinions stated as facts and bias by omission.
The definition of grit is simple; it means being passionate about long term goals, and showing stamina to pursue them, but should students in public schools have a class dedicated to a grit-focused curriculum? This has become a major topic of discussion among teachers and mentors. Angela Duckworth, a professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, claims grit is not a fixed quality but one that can be developed. Many disagree with her statement. Grit is something everyone all have within themselves, but some just do not utilize this characteristic as often or as well as others. Grit is a puzzling concept. Duckworth has had an obsession with grit for over a decade. Her obsession started when she visited West Point,
The Warren-Flew Debate by Dr. Thomas B. Warren is basically a “cleaned up” transcription of the televised debate which took place in Denton, Tx at the North Texas State University campus in 1976.
On this leg of their long day, the captain was the flying pilot in control of the aircraft, and the first officer was the non-flying pilot, handling such things as navigation and the radios. After only 14 minutes in the air, 22:54, they received the fi...
Have you ever had to make a decision in your life? I’m pretty sure we all have, the decision can even be what you ate for breakfast in the morning. Robert Frost wrote a poem about a man who has to make an important decision. In the poem “The Road Not Taken”, by Robert Frost, he states, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference” (Woods). To me taking the road less traveled by means, doing something on your own. It means not following a crowd, it means doing something unique. It can be hard to go your own way, but that is what Robert Frost is talking about. Everybody should go the path is right for them, not the one that many other people have gone down. There are many examples of people taking the unexpected path, I have gone through a path many people have never seen before, so have
On the 14th of September in the year 1607 the Earl of Tyrone Hugh O’Neill and the Earl of Tyrconnel Rory O’Donnell fled Ireland alongside officials, their families and numerous Gaelic chieftains. They left Ireland from Rathmullen in County Donegal. This flee was to become known as the flight of the Earls. They arrived in the Spanish Netherlands and then eventually made their way to Rome. The Flight of the Earls led to the most drastic form of the British government’s policy of plantation in Ireland. The Flight of the Earls has remained as one of the most memorable events in the history of Ireland. But what exactly were the reasons for the Flight of the Earls? The causes have been debated by historians with different interpretations as to why they fled but it is clear that the influence of the Earls in Ireland have been diminished greatly in the years prior to the Flight of the Earls. This essay seeks to clarify the reasons for the decline in power of the Earls in Ireland through exploration of the solidification of British rule in Ireland, along with key events in the years prior to the Flight of the Earls such as Hugh O’Neill’s campaign and onto the nine years war and the Battle of Kinsale and the Treaty of Mellifont after the Battle of Kinsale.
For me, this topic hits home and in my pocket. My uncle, retired Coast Guard Captain Brian Murray, flies for Emirates Airlines out of Dubai. Growing up with aviation in our family, I've seen and heard the best stories of flight, but it seems the best are yet to come. Every new dawn breeds a new idea of some component of flight that will lead to the best experiences offered in the passenger aircraft world. Personally, I have been flying regularly for the last ten years.
Aviation security plays a vital role in the aviation industry, from protecting passengers, staff and aircraft. The aviation industry, more specifically airports and aircraft, make prime targets for malicious harm, crime, and other threats because of the vast amount of people that use air transportation. Although there are many risks that are posed to the aviation industry, we can only hope to have learned from the history of airport bombings, hijackings, and sabotage terrorist attacks. The aviation industry faces threats at each step of the journey, but assessing the risks properly will help deter and mitigate these threats. Conducting risk analysis in today’s aviation security is not only important to the aviation industry, but it is important
How many times have an average person flown in an airplane, did people ever think what the world would be like without them? Airplanes have provided people with opportunities to go all over the world to experience different cultures and places. They also create jobs for many people which contributes to how they boost the economy. In conclusion, they appear as a more clean way to travel, helping out the Earth. The airplane was one of the most important inventions due to it creating jobs, creating easier cultural access, causes economic boosts, and created less pollution than most means of travel and also has an interesting history.
