“The death camps seem easier to comprehend if we put them all into the basket of one vast generalization, which the term "death camps" implies, but in the process we mythologize or trivialize them,” Ruth Klüge. The Holocaust is one of the greatest tragedies in the worlds’ history. It was an era, during World War 2, that was one of history’s worst genocides. Many people do not believe that this tragedy happened. Two to three percent of people survived to tell their story. The Holocaust actually happened, the world knows this because there is historical proof and records, there are many witnesses and survivors, and there are records of the Nuremberg trials. David states “Their plan to exterminate the Jews- the “Final Solution,”- has been well documented, starting with the 3,000 tons of confiscated Third Reich paperwork presented in evidence at the Nuremberg trials immediately after the war.” (How Holocaust Denial Works). David explained that there is paperwork of the Nuremberg trials, which took place in Nuremberg, Germany, the judges were the Allied powers; France, Great Britain, Soviet Union, and the United States. According to Snopes “Most of the defendants admitted to the crimes of the Holocaust and the other crimes, including stealing from the victims, and said they were just simply following the order of a higher authority.” (David). David tells Snopes that most of the Nazis admitted to the crimes, killings, stealing and rape. They told the Allies that they all were just following a higher authority. Only twelve of the defendants were put to death, but most got short sentences. David writes “Adolf Eichmann, who killed thousands of jews and other races during the Holocaust admitted to his crimes and was found guilty and served the death penalty.” (Snopes). David recorded some of the key information to these trials, such as people like government officials, and business executives who played key roles in the Holocaust, who used the concentration camps and inmates as forced laborers either received short prison sentences or no penalty at all.
