In Writing Project 3, I was expected to write an argumentative essay addressing the topic of social inequality in the United States and what needs to change in order to create a less divisive society. I needed to write a two-page proposal about my social discourse and provide an analysis that focuses on why I choose the topic and how does it demonstrate inequality in this country. Then, I was expected to write a 7-8 page argumentative essay about the positions of others on the issue and understanding from their perspectives, while being able to contribute my viewpoint. The genre that I approached was gender inequality within sports that is caused by the media. I chose this topic because my English teacher in High School showed my class a documentary of female athletes being objectified in sports unlike male athletes, so I wanted to learn more about this issue and why were women being treated differently than man in the same profession. …show more content…

Through writing project 3, I first explored different facets of social disparity or discrimination that had to be from popular and academic articles. This process helped me complete my proposal by helping me decide on a issue that would explain how my position relates to other positions or contradicts them.
