Many people believe that giant, man-like creatures called Bigfoots or Sasquatches exist in the dense forests and mountains of North America. However, these people could not be more wrong. For several years, many people who make regular trips through North American forests have claimed that they have had some form of encounter with a larger, hairy creature called Bigfoot. No specific scientific evidence, however, has proven that these creatures exist, so the only proof of a Sasquatch ever living is the word of an everyday person. Although many people claim they have had face-to-face encounters with a Bigfoot/Yeti, Sasquatches could not exist because they leave no solid scientific evidence to prove their existence and because nobody has been …show more content…
able to successfully capture a creature that has been proven through science to be a real Sasquatch. The legend of Bigfoot first came about after an apparent sighting of one occurred in Canada in 1811 (Krystek).
Ever since this first sighting, multiple reported Bigfoot sightings have occurred all over North America and even in parts of Europe. The most common description of a Sasquatch, another name for Bigfoot, is that Bigfoot is a hairy ape-like biped that stands nearly nine feet tall and weighs over six hundred pounds (Krystek). The name Bigfoot came about due to the creatures’ large feet. A Sasquatch’s foot can be anywhere from sixteen to eighteen inches long and seven inches wide, whereas the foot of a large adult male is an average of eleven inches long and four inches wide (Krystek). Sasquatches are most commonly sighted in wooded areas throughout the United States and Canada. The creatures are supposedly very elusive since they are not a common sight among woodland travelers. occurrence. There are many different theories regarding Bigfoot’s existence. Many people have claimed that at some point in their lifetimes they have had encounters with larger, hairy beasts in the woods that resemble Sasquatches. These people make the claim that Bigfoots do exist and are just very elusive creatures, and they disregard the lack of any kind of real Bigfoot DNA or skeletal structure. Some people also make the assertion that once a Sasquatch dies its bones and body decompose into the soil. Other eye witnesses claim that they have had even closer encounters with a Sasquatch other than visually seeing one. Some say that they have heard the massive creatures lurking outside of their campsites at night. One man has even stated that he was captured by a family of Sasquatches and was forced to live with them for a period of time (Krystek). It is the opinion of multiple people that Sasquatches are actual living creatures that survive and thrive in several regions in North America. Although it is a popular opinion throughout the world, Sasquatches do not exist for many different reasons. The first major reason is that an actual Bigfoot has never been scientifically proven to have ever existed. It has been reported that creatures similar to Bigfoots have been captured, but it was proven that these creatures were actually just altered apes and chimpanzees because they lacked the massive size that characterizes a Sasquatch (Krystek). There are several documentaries of teams of supposed Bigfoot experts that try to find Sasquatches in the wild and photograph or capture them, but none of these teams have ever successfully been able to find a Sasquatch. Also, many of these Bigfoot hunters use photographs and firsthand accounts from eye witnesses to support their expeditions into the wilderness. Most photographs of Sasquatches are Photoshoped and/or have such a terrible quality that none of them can prove that the creature depicted in them is in fact a Bigfoot and not just a man in a costume or a bear standing upright. Additionally, eyewitnesses can stretch the truth and/or even tell lies making them an unreliable source for Sasquatch evidence (Radford). The creatures that people believe are Bigfoots may be similar in some ways to the description of a Bigfoot due to their appearance in many photographs and the capturing of a few similar creatures, but most of these creatures were scientifically proven to be relatives of other mammals and not real Sasquatches. Another reason why Sasquatches do not exist is because scientists cannot find and identify any Bigfoot remains including bones, flesh, hair, and even feces from recent times. All creatures that inhabit the Earth leave clues to their existence left behind. For example, once an animal dies its carcass decomposes into the ground and its bones are left behind to be dug up and analyzed. No recent bones of a Bigfoot have been dug up and analyzed by scientists. There have been bones dug up of creatures that resemble Bigfoot, but these creatures lived thousands of years ago and are no longer alive today. Additionally, the most persuasive argument for the existence of Bigfoot is the abundance of larger footprints that they leave behind. These footprints cannot be trusted however, since people have admitted to making fake Bigfoot footprints to prove a point (Radford). Any supposed Sasquatch evidence that has been brought to scientist was analyzed recently, and the results show that the samples are originally from common creatures that we know exist today (“What’s The True”). These animals include bears, porcupine, deer, sheep, and even humans (“What’s The True”). If Sasquatches were to exist, they would have to maintain a breeding population, and they would leave a lot of evidence behind just like all other animals on Earth (Crossan). The chance that people would have encounters with Sasquatches during their everyday lives would be much greater as well, however, these creatures do not exist and therefore cannot leave evidence behind. Sasquatches are just figments of people’s imaginations due to the lack of actual, solid, scientific evidence proving they exist.
All of the supposed Bigfoot sightings and seizures of Sasquatches have been proven to be false with the use of DNA evidence and the analyzation of the photographs that claim they exist. Also, remains such as bones, hair, or flesh that were claimed to have originated from a Bigfoot have been scientifically proven to have actually come from regular, everyday animals (Crossan). The legend of the Bigfoot has been around for decades and is still believed in today. The creatures are characterized by their massive size as well as overall strength. Some people believe that nine foot beasts can actually exist in the wild for thousands of years without any kind of scientific evidence to prove it (Radford). The serious lack of hard scientific evidence including remains and an actual capturing of a live Sasquatch are why these creatures could not exist in today’s world. Nine foot, nine hundred pound, hairy, bipedal creatures would have, if they existed, been scientifically proven at this point in time, but since Sasquatches do not exist, no evidence could be found to do
that.
The experience happens in the middle of the night in Orick, California when the encounter of Bigfoot took place, in the house of two men and their children. The house was surrounded by the forest, woods, and there were not many people around.
legends about those wild half-human beasts who haunt the edges of our forests and lurk in the
One of the most well-known urban legends told is the story of Bigfoot. Much of the research has shown that there are several names assigned to the mammoth ape. According to Napier (1973), Bigfoot would be the creature found mostly in Northwest America, Sasquatch would be a creature named in British Colombia, the 49th parallel in the north-west states of America and Northern California, and the Abominable Snowman, or the Yeti would be the creature named in the Himalayas. Of course, “Wild Man” and “Savage” have also been names used to identify the creature. There’s been thousands of sightings across the world, but there have also been many misidentifications where those who think they have seen Bigfoot have really just seen an ordinary animal or person. Arment (2006) states an individual’s perception may color the eyewitness account. Such misidentifications include: hermits, fugitives, refugees, bears, gorillas, and simply people making up stories or rumors. In addition to sightings, there have been photos, videos, movies, and TV shows that strongly indicates the possibility of the existence of this creature. Though there is much evidence from sightings, myths, and recordings that Bigfoot exists, there is also much proof that it could all be a hoax. Incorrect sightings have led skeptics to argue over the existence of this being stating Bigfoot is really just a fable. So one has to ask oneself, does Bigfoot really exist or is it just another urban legend?
This creature, which stands between seven and ten feet tall, is said to have an intimidating appearance which one will never forget. Sasquatch, who can weigh up to a whopping six hundred pounds, is covered in shaggy reddish-brown hair covering its entire body. Sasquatch has abnormally long muscular arms which, according to eyewitness reports, fall to just above its knees. Reports of Bigfoot describe it as having both female and male reproductive parts, which suggests it is possibly a primitive hominid. This of course means the creature has children the same way as humans do. Sasquatch is recognized to live far away from humans, deep within forests, so it can easily stay away from con...
Many Native American tribes described the Bigfoot as cannibals, mountain devils, kidnappers, rapists, and thieves. Most Native American tribes stayed out of the Bigfoot’s territory, avoiding contact if possible. Some tribes have interaction with the Bigfoot. One example of this was in California, where the Hoopa Indians actually camped with the Bigfoot. Unfortunately, the young Bigfoot males would occasionally rape a Hoopa woman, causing elders from both tribes to agree that a split was necessary.
Bigfoot is, without a doubt, the most recognized mystery in all of North America. The apeike being has reportedly been sighted thousands of times since the beginning of the 19th century. According to eyewitness testimonies, Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a gigantic beast that towers at eight feet tall and weighs as much as six hundred pounds. Reports also say that the monster’s form is well built and usually covered in thick, brown fur. Many have asked if such a creature could possibly be roaming through the wilderness of North America and around the world, and the answer is yes.
Is Bigfoot really a mythical creature roaming the world? Nobody can answer that question, not if our scientist today. Bigfoot is a large, hairy, apelike creature resembling a yeti, there are found in Northwestern America. There is another name that Bigfoot is called and it’s Sasquatch. Some people believe in Bigfoot and try to find it. Others who think it’s a ridiculous idea to be searching for something that no one can find. There are others who are in the middle and others who just don’t care. There are evidence from films, eyewitnesses, photographs, hair sample, and footprints.

The theory of there being an ape like beast that walks through our wilderness all started with a 16mm film in Bluff Creek, California by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin in 1967. The video displayed a tall, hairy human like figure trolling along a timber clearing walking briskly away from Patterson and Gimlin. The film ignited a craze amongst scientist and viewers to go on a conquest to prove Bigfoots existence. The 1967 film was never proven to be a hoax or real evidence and still today is a toss up.
This provides powerful insight into the role Bigfoot like creatures played in Native American cultures. Some tribes were not afraid of the creatures, considering them kind and helpful, while peacefully coexisting with them. Other tribes found them to be more violent and dangerous creatures. The fact that these tribes called the animals Stick Indians or Brush Indians seems to suggest that the creatures were simply other tribes they did not get along with opposed to a village of mythical creatures. Some examples of Bigfoot like creatures in Native American tribes include the Chiye – Tanka, the Lofa, the Maxemista, and the popular Sasquatch. The Chiye – Tanka was the Bigfoot like creature of the Sioux Indians (“Native American,” n.d.). This animal
Bigfoot and its related primates have existed in cultures around the world. In North America, the legend of Bigfoot is believed to have been part of Native American belief for hundreds of years. There are different names for this ape-like creature like Bigfoot, Sasquatch – the term Sasquatch comes from the meaning “hairy giant.”. Also, Bigfoot can be called Swamp Ape, and the list goes on. This questioned animal has appeared mysteriously in nature from time to time.
All around the world monsters are spotted contently everyday. Many of the monsters live in extraordinary circumstances. These monsters range from the chupacabra to the ancient megalodon. One of these monsters being bigfoot. Bigfoot is a very well know monster that has been in myths and stories for hundreds of years and sightings have started almost 200 years ago. One of the things many people wanted to know is how closely related bigfoot is to humans and how closely it is to apes.
Throughout the 150 year history of Bigfoot, many concerns have been raised, the most in number being from Native Americans. The Karok Indians tell of an “upslope person” who lurks far up in the mountains (Gaffron, 22-24). Some medicine men have told stories of “snow-walkers” that haunt the Forrest depths (Short). The creatures North American habitat covers over 125,000 square miles of forest, contained in the states of Oregon, Washington, and California, constituting a large number of Native American tribes to encounter and frighten (Gaffron, 22). This phenomenon is not just a Native American one told by medicine men, and tribe leaders, Bigfoot plays an enormous role in the ancient folklore of such civilizations as, the Russians, Greeks, and Anglo-Saxons (Brunvand).
An orca, more commonly known as a killer whale, is currently one of the largest marine animals held in captivity. Countless arguments are being made, supporting and opposing captivity of orcas to be exploited as circus animals in theme parks around the world. Throughout recent history, Sea World trainers have been injured and killed by the orcas and the whales, and the whales themselves have been observed as severely depressed. If Sea World releases the whales, they would undergo an immense economic downfall and the whales would be too weak to survive in the wild if they were freed. Since the first Sea World park opened in San Diego, California in 1964, common questions have arose concerning the well-being of orcas in captivity, the dangers of humans training them, the physical capability of whales theoretically being released, and the psychological differences between whales living in the wild versus whales living in Sea World's confinement.
Bigfoot also known as Sasquatch is a large, hairy, muscular, ape-like creature that somewhat looks like a human being.
