What is "religion?"
Religion can become a controversial topic in any conversation. The reason being is that any follower of a religion holds their beliefs as the most holy and real to them. More specifically religion is a system of beliefs and rules used to worship a god, many gods, or a form of higher power. Every intricate detail of a religion makes it unique and special; from prayer to worship and everything that follows. I feel that now I can hold an intellectual conversation without feeling ignorant. I also believe religion can be viewed from many perspectives; philosophical are theological just two examples. I say this because I got to see how religion tied in very well with an Ethics class I am taking in conjunction to this one. Although these philosophers did not get deep into religion I was able to make a connection from a different point of view. There are many topics that are parallel to religion, for example virtues

During this time we have studied some of the major religions and their beliefs. While these religions have most of the same components such as worship, prayer, and holy books, they are very distinct in their rooted beliefs. The process is different for each with one thing in common, treats others like you would like to be treated. Deep down all religions promote peace and unity. I believe the phrase, "deep down," can be a term often misused by a person who doesn 't understand the teachings or indifferent to religion in general. I wouldn 't judge anyone who thinks all religions are the same but rather enlighten them. Let them know that there 's more to it and guide them in a path of success not necessarily to a specific religion. I feel more comfortable having a conversation about religion more now than before. Usually this is a topic I wouldn 't discuss with others unless it 's about my own religion, just in avoidance of an awkward
It can be said that religion is one of the most controversial topics in our time. Everyone has their own different opinion of how they want to interpret religion,
In today’s society, there are roughly around 4,200 religions that exist on this planet. Some define "religion" as a cultural system of behaviors and practices that help people make important decisions in life. Out of the many religions, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism have many similarities that connect them to one another. Themes of morality, justice, love are found through both the Buddha's teaching and the Hebrew and Christian Bible.
Religion and philosophy greatly affect life in many different cultures. Some of these cultures include those of the Ancient Indians and Ancient Chinese.
These religions include Christianity, Islamic, Buddhism, Freemason and even pagans. Therefore basing on positionality, people are more likely to be biased and judged based on their religion. Thus it is important to understand different religious personalities of people in order to be able to interact well with people from all religious backgrounds.
The fact is that no matter where you turn, religion is a major part of culture and influences everyone on some level. While I don’t agree on any particular religion, it is important about learning what types there are in the world.
What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the world but it is still one of the most misunderstood religion by many. The Non-Muslims who are unfamiliar with the faith tend to have misunderstandings about its concepts and teachings. These misconceptions misguide Non-Muslims from learning what Islam really is about. Islam simply means submission to God and peace, but many believe that it promotes terrorism, oppression of Muslim women, and that the religion has too many restrictions.
Scholars have been trying to come up with a well-founded, acceptable and universal definition of religion for years; however, none of these definitions so far are a perfect fit for all religions of the world. There are many things in our life that are well defined and well understood but, unfortunately, religion is not one of them. There is no common ground and understanding of what religion really means. Religion is what we make of it, so no one can truly define religion in a way that is meaningful across all borders as it is outside of the realm of reason and rationale and the definitions we give could be either too exclusive or inclusive.
The religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are alike in many ways but they also share many differences. Judaism and Christianity use the bible in their holy scriptures, while Islam does not. Jesus Christ is a part of all three religions as Christianity and Islam developed from Judaism. Many believe that the three religions worship, pray to, and focus on the same god. They believe this as many of the prophets are they share much in common as they share many beliefs. However, the followers of the three religions pray differently and in different places. the religions believe that their god created the world and everything in the world. The three Abrahamic religions have different histories, yet they share many similarities and difference.

The media is becoming more and more accepted each year. Everybody uses the internet, whether it’s for education, hobbies or entertainment, it’s recognised as a bad thing but in other eyes a good utensil for education or in general. There are TV shows that could be bias or give others knowledge, or the news that can again give knowledge or spread rumors. Then theres religion, religion has impacted many peoples lives and currently still is, it has changed people completely, for better and for worse. But both media and religion have something in common, both can impact people and both can be recognised as either principled and virtuous or harmful and detrimental. This topic is extremely relevant to todays society as the media is used so frequently and habitual, especially nowadays. The media has been seen as a damaging thing and actions have been taken but can the media go as far to cause harm to religions? Consequences of this issue could vary from high to low, but the issue could change people's beliefs which could cause conflict communities or families. It could also cause a large divide between religious followers and atheists, thirdly religions could take action in banning different branches of the media, such as forbidding certain websites or movies. The affair is important because the media is such a big part in citizens lives today, and religion will always be important to different people .I am interested in this issue because media influences and impacts our lives, possibly more than necessary, and internet addiction has also been strictly taken into account in China so if it is affecting people in countries I was curious to find out whether it’s affecting people within religions.
INDTRODUCTION “Sex and Religion”? Those two don’t really go hand in hand,” commented a freshman student from UF. Like this student, numerous people around the world believe this misconception to be true. Whether people argue for or against the importance of gender in religion, more than just what goes on in the bedroom has been heating up lately. Many debates have sparked due to the negative connotation associated with sex when confronted about its position in religious cultures.
Many times people got into fights, ended friendship, and even got into violence because of disagreements on matters of faith or religious. Sometimes knowing more about other religious might help people avoid confects between each other, and eventually might lead to peacefully co-living together. The most famous three religions and are also called “People of the book” are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Judaism is the oldest organized religious in the world; however, is only has 14 million followers around the world most of them center in North America. Christianity, came after Judaism and have two billion followers around the world, and that’s about one third of the world population. Finally, Islam came after Judaism and Christianity. Although
Religion is a major controversy in modern society. Some reach a final conclusion early on that there is no God or Supreme Being; instead they believe that there is life and then nothing more. Others have so much faith that they are actually willing to die for their religion. It could be viewed as drastic but it is also reality. As a soon to be missionary I see the benefits of religious views and the impact it has on people for their well being. For my religion, I am willing to serve two years of my life to teach other the joy of the gospel while sacrificing my time away from my friends and family. An apostle of my church once said "The most effective missionaries, member and full time, act out of love… If we lack this love for others we should pray for it." -Elder Dallin H. Oaks. This quote just reminds me of why I am so willing to want to go out and serve The Lord. I will do it because of his love for me. But not to be biased of my own personal religion, I want to show that believing in something and having faith is better than nothing. Atheists are people that have a belief that there is nothing more after this life to me would seem to have really nothing to live for believing that they are just here to die which is a sad message. So in this essay I would like to describe why religion is so important and such an amazing thing.
Since I grew up in the Catholic faith, I understand that not everyone has the same religious beliefs that my religion teaches. The way a person is raised, has an impact on their religious beliefs. Your belief system is the actual set of precepts from which you live your daily life, those that govern your thoughts, words, and actions (Woods, 2006). Since, I had religion classes through out my school years I have been taught to accept other people's religious beliefs. Even my parents have taught me to look at a person's culture and beliefs to gain a better understanding of their point of view. With the understanding of others religious beliefs and cultures it has allowed me to deal with others in a fair and equal manner. Even though I have had some difficult time with others I remember how I was raised and it has helped me through those difficult times.
