“Momma!” I whined across the room, “I’m starving.” She always hates when I whine at her, I do it now just to grind her gears. She was lying on the couch so I laid my head on her lap and naming of foods that sounded good to me. Talking for a while about the different food choices we could get, we decided on Mexican food, specifically chicken cheese and rice. There are two main places we get this from which are El Torero's and Las Brisas. We agreed we wanted Mexican, but now we couldn’t agree on which restaurant was better so we decided we would just try both and end this argument once and for all. Before we decided to head off we had to make a list of things we were both going to examine upon entering the restaurants and when trying the …show more content…
When the food had been brought to my table I could see that there wasn’t as much cheese as I would like for there to be, which also made my rice and chicken taste dry. As well as that problem, I had asked for no jalapenos in my meal but I got them anyway.
After stealing everyone’s left over cheese put on my dish, I ate as much as I could which was barley even half. El Torero’s gives you more than enough food to get full that meal and have leftovers for your next meal.
A few days later my mother and I now decided to try Las Brisas which is only ten minutes away from my house located in Scott City. When we walked into this restaurant we did not get the same open environment as El Torero’s, this place had very small walk spaces and every table was so close to the next that you could hear all the gossip of the town which made us want to dash out of this restaurant. Although they did have nice workers, we did not enjoy this factor near as much. The chicken cheese and rice at Las Brisas was priced around seven dollars which is cheaper than El Torero’s but not by much. Waiting patiently for my food seeming as if I had sat in this booth for a whole life time, it had finally arrived. The cheese seemed to be piled on compared to El Torero’s. I also had more than enough to fill up and bring home here as
I came to the conclusion after comparing notes that my relatives had been deceived by their hunger when they decided that El Espolon was their favorite Mexican restaurant. After reviewing the venues, service that was provided, and food that I tasted, I reached the decision that El Tapatio was the number one Mexican restaurant in my book. Their excellent service, clean and bright venue, and tasty food made it hard to turn up a nose. I would suggest the restaurant to anyone with many occasions. From a family dinner after a long day, to a family lunch on Sunday after church, this restaurant is suitable for all occasions in little town Missouri.

Have you ever been stripped of your heritage and treated like a foreigner in your own homeland? Hopefully not, but if you’re a Mexican American citizen then you may have an idea of what it’s like to be treated in such a manner. For many years, what is now considered to be the Southwest United States, was owned and inhabited my Mexican citizens. These people had lived on this land for generations, many making a living raising cattle and cultivating the land. However, due to Mexico’s loss in a in the Mexican American War, the country was forced to give approximately half of its land to the United States. According to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, the inhabitants of the newly acquired land were to become citizens of the United States, and were
Some americans say that nations hinge on each other, while others say they also compete with one another. This gives rise to rivalry, which sometimes leads to war. Some wars emerge from differentiation in race, religion and culture. Due to the evolution of technology in an accelerated pace, highly sophisticated weapons are now available for use in wars. Wars also bring about widespread destruction, disrupt communication and hamper commerce. Thus, they cause heavy financial loss and great suffering to people. The effects of wars often affect countries that are not involved in the conflict. The threat of war can pressure a nation to waste immense amounts of money on defense instead of spending on developmental works like creating roads, hospitals, schools, and much more. War can halt a countries development. Some countries try to achieve political desires by using terrorism as a weapon against other countries. Terrorism spreads fear in civilians through acts of violence like killings and hostages. This intimidation has transformed into worldwide threat.
The menu is concise and easy to understand: burrito bowl, burrito, soft or crispy tacos, chips and guacamole, salad, and choice of beans, and meats,
“I do not believe that many American citizens . . . really wanted to create such immense human suffering . . . in the name of battling illegal immigration” (Carr 70). For hundreds of years, there has been illegal immigration starting from slavery, voluntary taking others from different countries to work in different parts of the world, to one of the most popular- Mexican immigration to the United States. Mexican immigration has been said to be one of the most common immigration acts in the world. Although the high demand to keep immigrants away from crossing the border, Mexicans that have immigrated to the U.S have made an impact on the American culture because of their self sacrifices on the aspiration to cross over. Then conditions
What is culture? Many people ask themselves this question every day. The more you think about it the more confusing it is. Sometimes you start leaning to a culture and then people tell you you’re wrong or they make you feel like a different person because of your culture. I go through this almost every day. Because of the way I was raised I love Mexican rodeo but I was born and raised in Joliet. This can be very difficult trying to understand culture. I live in this huge mix of culture. Culture is personal. People can have many cultures especially in America and because of globalization. Cultural identity is not one or the other, it is not Mexican or American. Cultural identity is an individual relevant thing.
Finding out something being advertised as food isn’t 100% food is a problem. Luckily, Taco Bell had the perfect response.
Most people say that migration of Mexicans to America is a big problem in our country. They say that every immigrant is bad and all they bring to America is drugs. Well that is not true because immigrants actually help this great country. Today we are going to focus on Mexican immigrants. We will talk about different views that people have on it. We will talk about what an immigrant really is. Also define how people think immigration is a problem, causes of why people migrate from one country to another, consequences, and ways we can deal with immigration.
The Santa Fe Grill is a relatively new Mexican restaurant that was started by two former business students from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. The idea sparked after the two roommates who were both interested in pursuing entrepreneurial interests decided that a Mexican restaurant in their city would be highly successful. While taking an entrepreneur class at the University, the plan for the business began coming together. Their main focus was to create a restaurant that would feature the freshest ingredients, as well as a lively atmosphere, cutting edge advertising and marketing, plus exceptional service for customers. (Research Methods, Pg. 19) By doing so, the students hoped that they could fulfill their dreams of ownership.
About a week before they all came to dinner, I began to plan what I would make. After having talked to each of them several times on the telephone, I could tell they may de...

Food is a major part of everyone’s everyday life. It’s hard to imagine life without the chocolate cake on your fingers or a carne asada taco in your mouth. Enjoying delicious desserts and fast food seem extremely magnificent to eat and spend money buying them. Although, there have been many controversies in the United States on how it’s the largest country with the most obesity regarding children, which affects their health, many people are still going throughout their day snacking. Many people in America are having full course meals with thousands of calories in one sitting not knowing the short term or long term side effects that are going to take a huge toll on their lives. Food is delicious, but it comes with a secret behind the savoriness/sweetness.
“Healthy eating” means eating a variety of foods that gives you the nutrients you need to maintain your health, feeling good with your health conditions, and having enough energy throughout the day (Nordqvist). A poor diet can cause harm a person’s daily life activities. Research from Eating Healthy Might Prove Too Expensive for Poor ABC News shows, that the price of eating healthy foods may be expensive to a family who earns a low-income. So, eating fast foods may be more convenient for them knowing that the prices are way less. However, everyone should make the effort to stop eating foods that will later on harm your health. As mentioned in the article “Healthy Eating”, “Healthy eating is not about strict dietary limitations, staying unrealistically
