Have you ever read an article and felt as if they didn't cover both sides of the story equally or they didn't cover one side at all? Thats media biased. News sources are often pushing their own political agendas. Journalist have the power to put out really what they want ‘’ Anyone with access to the Internet can be journalist now ‘’ ( McManus 31 ). . Fortunately there are ways to avoid this and find truths! It is important that everyday we have access to true and informational news. Due to bias in the media it is important to know how to find truths by fact checking and using the SMELL test. They may even interpret something differently. There are 6 Power House Networks, where most people get their news from. Fox News is a conservative media outlets and most readers tend to be conservative as well. All ABC, CBS, NBC are liberal media outlets, but Fox viewers will watch these as well. CNN and MSNBC are also more on the liberal side. Each are different in the way they express themselves and what sources they use. Some may have more reliable sources than others. When it really comes down to it the reader just wants the facts. Journalists can't sugar coat stories when we live in a world with harsh realities. We need the truth! Journalists need to just present us with the information as they should and allow for ourselves how we feel about the different sides. It's important that we keep an open mind and not limit ourselves to 1 story and just automatically believe it, we need to know and hear all sides. Its imprtant that the viewer know that journalists use ‘’ group think ‘’ to make the readers all think the same

Online you read that two new schools were built, and the Iraqis, supported by US forces, led an attack to capture an insurgent leader. The small, mostly independent, reporters generally try to get a first-hand account of the situation on the ground. They are their alongside the soldiers, sailors, and marines. In some cases these reporters may need to drop their camera or pen and defend themselves. These examples bring many questions that I want to know. The biggest of these questions is how do these different types of reporting, the “main stream media”, and the small independent embedded reporters affect the views that the American people have back home? The reason I chose this topic is that after reading The Good Soldiers and Moment of Truth in Iraq, I was intrigued in the considerable difference between what was wrote in books and what CNN reported on the nightly news.
