Mark Parker a young 13 year old boy living in Beaverton, Oregon, was out at his community court practicing some basketball for the upcoming season. He was a smart kid working very hard in school and doing his best to impress his parents. He loved the game of basketball, but he didn’t know it. He just wanted to be like all the other kids in his class that were good at it. He was in some way friends with everyone but not really close with the other kids. There was one thing he loved to do, it was to collect shoes. He was the biggest sneakerhead in the junior high. “Mom, Dad, come out I have good news!” yelled Mark. Phil stood back leaning on his very expensive car laughing at Mark’s excitement. Mark’s parents came out from the backyard they were working on their garden, Mark ran over to the side gate where they came out from. He practically yelled in their face, “I’m going to be rich!” Mark’s parents looked behind him to see the big man leaning on the car behind him. “Well let's hear what kind of deal we have here” said Mrs. Parker. They invite Mr. Knight into their house to hear what is going on. Mr. Knight goes through the same conversation he went threw with Mark but a little but in bigger terms. When Phil was done he pulls out a contract from his briefcase and set it down on the coffee table. Mark ran down to the kitchen to get a pen for his parents to sign the most important piece of Marks future career. Mr. and Mrs. Parker said they will leave the paper in Mr. Knight mailbox when they have discussed when it will entail. The Parker family thanked Mr. Knight and walked him out to his car.
