Krystyna Mack Mrs. Anderson Language Arts 8 Sept. 2016 Jetpack Dodgeball “Wow! Look at how hard they can throw the balls. ” I said. “I can’t believe those players can throw that hard” “I think they are awesome athletes,” my friend Shaggy replied. “I’ve never seen anyone throw that high while flying through the air. The ball looks like it is flying at 100 miles per hour.” “The ball is usually flying around 75 miles per hour,” I stated, “and they do have some help flying through the air, though. Every person is equipped with jet packs.” Shaggy asked, “The surface they play on is so green, what is it? Also, why does it have strips of different colors?” “The grass is so green because it isn’t real grass. It is artificial grass, called turf. …show more content…
The rules help make the game fair to make sure there is no cheating. There are also two referees that are rule experts and make sure all players are following the rules the whole game. Along with the referees down in the arena, there is also an officiating crew in a booth in the stadium. This officiating crew tells the referees if they have missed any calls for cheating and also looks in the rule book for which penalty the player deserves. Some rules are about the jetpack that the players use. One of these rules is that each player can only wear one jetpack. No tinkering with any of the jetpacks to make them perform better. Players will be given a jetpack and cannot use their own. If a player runs out of fuel, they may refuel it but can not be hit by other players. In jetpack dodgeball, there will only be two teams facing off at once. Players can only go to the other team’s side when they are on the ground. When players are on the other team’s side, they can hit only five players at the most but the other team can hit the player as many times as they want until that player goes to the other side. After the person crosses to their side, they must go to the sidelines until they get back in. Another rule is that each team can only have a certain amount of players. A team can only have between seven and fifteen players. Each team will start off with twenty dodgeballs regardless of the amount of …show more content…
Jetpack dodgeball arenas must be very large. They must have some places to hide behind. The arena would be similar of a laser tag arena. The difference is that this arena will not be dark in it, and there will be stadium styled seating so that people can watch the players. One last thing about the arena is the there will be an invisible force field around the seating so that none of the spectators accidentally get hit with a dodgeball. Jetpack dodgeball also requires certain equipment. Each team will get 20 dodgeballs, and each player will receive only one jetpack with their last name and country colors on it. All jetpacks will be exactly the same, and players may not bring their own. One last thing about the equipment is that all jetpacks will have a protection shield around it so that it doesn’t get damaged. Jetpack dodgeball requires a certain arena and equipment unlike any other
People accumulate different feelings throughout the average day, yet there are usually no ways to adequately and legally let out those pent up frustrations. Dodgeball, luckily provides a solution. The author of an article named “The Weak Shall Inherit the Gym”, Rick Reilly, believes that “Dodgeball is one of the few times in life when you get to let out your aggressions, no questions asked (Reilly 2)”. In other words, this game is a unique and rare way to let out your daily emotions with a simple activity of throwing a ball at others. The effect of this game is only positive. You can throw balls at other people, relieve yourself of stress, and not injure them since the ball is made of a very soft material. There are in fact, much worse ways to release stress. One example is a school shooting. People who hold the opinion of banning dodgeball in order to keep everything safe and fair are being hypocrites since the frustrations which cannot be let out anymore can still be let out in ways that are significantly more detrimental to the school and it’s
In conclusion I think dodgeball is appropriate for school because it prepares you for life lessons by learning to “get back up”. Some kids look forward to it because it’s the ultimate test of agility and reflexes. On top of that, some schools go way too far with it by banning tag and gymnastics. Once again, I think dodgeball is appropriate for
First, the rules that are enforced are a great way of making the game safe for the players. There are rules like, not being allowed to tackle certain ways. For example, if you tackle someone from the back by pulling them, then that is said to be an illegal tackle. It is also said that it is illegal for someone to pull on others facemask when tackling. There are many others rules that are enforced in the game. Another one is the rule that says, Head to Head is not allowed. What that basically is that you cannot tackle someone by contacting your helmet to the opposing player. This rule makes it greatly safe because it reduces the numbers of injuries that occur to the head and the neck. The head is the key part of the human body. When someone hits another player with the helmet in the head, it reduces the risks of concussion and that can result to serious and severe body failures, including being...
The game requires too little or too much physical activity, it has to go. A child is accidentally hurt during a game, the game must be made illegal. Rick Reilly in The Weak Shall Inherit the Gym again states, “Seriously. So, if we give them dodgeball, you can look for these games to be banned next: Tag. Referring to any child as it is demeaning and hurtful. Instead of the child hollering, ‘You’re it!’ we recommend, ‘You’re special!’...Capture the flag. Mimics war. Kick the can. Unfair to the can. If we let these PC twinkies have their way, we’ll be left with: Duck-duck-duck. Teacher spends the entire hour patting each child softly on the head.” (lines 34 - 39 & 43 - 46) Children don’t think about how the game is unfair, they think How do I win? Who should I aim for? Playing a game of dodgeball is a time where kids can let loose and have

All the math work, along with physics principles, aided in proving that math has a significant role in the game of softball. Although people know that math is included in softball, the degree of its inclusion is still a mystery to both the audience and players. As seen in the mathematics work and graphs above, an average throw of a regulation fast pitch softball is parabolic in shape. This parabola has a curvature known as the trajectory, or the bath of the flying ball. This trajectory and parabola increases as the distance of the throw increases, therefore, the maximum height of the throw increases. This proves that an average softball throw has many mathematical aspects that shape the way the sport is played.
Baseball is a fascinating sport that is exceptionally fun to play. This assignment is all about understanding the physics of a few key aspects of this sport. One might ask what physics could have to do with baseball? Like most sports baseball involves physical motion. Baseball encompasses all three planes of motion through throwing, hitting, and fielding. All of the classical laws of mechanics can be applied to understand the physics of this game.
To describe football, regulation requires that teams win by earning the most points than the opposing team like shooting hoops in basketball or running to home plate in baseball. During the process of the game, either team will play in offense or defense in order to gain or prevent points. Unlike most sports, the game of football require an enormous amount of physical contact that
Its America’s pastime. Since 1869, the MLB has been the sweetheart of American sports. A requisite to be a true American is to have a conceptual understanding of baseball; the seventh inning stretch, “Take Me Out To The Ball Game,” as well as hotdogs and warm summer nights at the ball park are all favorite memories of American pastime. However, what one might not realize is the extreme physics behind the game. The velocity of the pitch, and degree of the ball exiting the bat, the exit speed, and how an outfielder throws are entailed within the physics of baseball. It is important to understand the physics involved with baseball to grow in understanding and appreciation of the sport.
First the rule in the NFL was that the play would be an automatic penalty, would result in player fine, and an additional fifteen yards would be added from where the foul was committed. The play is reviewable; however, if the call on the field does not stand the player is not fined, but it is still a fifteen yard penalty. A lot of coaches and other National Football League associates disagreed with that section of the rule and after debates and discussions the rule was changed. As of the season, if the play is reviewed and there is not an actual penalty then
First of all, the rules of football require one to equip himself with approximately twenty pounds of equipment, including a helmet, shoulder pads, and girdle pads. This is because football has the most contact involved out of all sports. In a football game, the norm is that the home team wears colorful jerseys and the visiting team wears white jerseys. Moreover, if a team’s offense is on the field, their defense is on the sideline. A team’s offense includes a center, who snaps the ball to the quarterback. The “QB” then has a choice to run with the ball, hand it off to a running back, or throw it to a wide receiver. The quarterback has an offensive line to protect him from the assailing defense. If a teammate happens to score a touchdown, he earns his team six points, which allows for the kicker to kick an extra point, and give his team a total of seven points. However, if the offense fails to travel at least ten yards within four attempts, or “downs,” they have the opti...
Contact sports in America, like football and boxing, carry a rich history of the spirit of the game, and the feeling of victory. These games bring us together as we cry out and cheer for our team or fighter as they deliver the winning touchdown, or the knockout that brings them the undisputed champion belt. However, these players are facing injuries that can destroy their career and affect their brain for the rest of their lives. We shouldn’t outlaw contact sports, but we should force safety to become more important. If we want to keep our players safe and continue the tradition of the contact sports we enjoy as a country, then we must evolve our safety in sports, and change the way we view contact sports as a country.
There are usually two referees, one at each end of the net. One of the referees stands on a special platform to get somewhat of a “bird’s eye view” (Sullivan). Morgan established that there would be nine innings in the game, much like baseball.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Are high school sports beneficial or not for students? I personally believe if a student is in a high school sport they’re forced to prioritize between school and their sport, and at a young age I believe the student would decide to use his time to improve in his sport instead of school. Which in the long run would affect his academics, unless they decide to stay up late and work on their homework to keep up with both school and their sport. But, even like that in time the lack of sleep would catch up to them, and cause them to do even worse in both academics, and sports. High school sports are like the lotto in my opinion, many play but only a few get rewarded for their work. Therefore, high school sports cause more negativity than positivity.
Two teams of eleven players each participate in getting the ball into the other team’s goal, thus scoring a goal. The team that has scored more goals at the end of the game wins. If both teams have scored an equal number of goals, then the game is a tie. Each team is controlled by a captain. In game play, players make an effort to create goal scoring occasions through individual control of the ball, such as dribbling, passing the ball to a team-mate, and by taking shots at the goal, that is guarded by the goalkeeper belonging to the other team....
