This is seen as very inconvenient when car owners have the ability to get over one hundred miles of power through five to ten minutes spent at a local gas station. However, if a car owner is willing to not go to a gas station at any time of the day, an electric car could be recharged in the convenience of an owner’s own home, when the vehicle is idle and not being used. Electric vehicle owners have the ability to charge their vehicle in the comfort of their own home. Owners can charge their vehicle at home using what is known as AC Level 1 or AC Level 2 charging equipment. AC Level equipment is an electric powered car charging station that is commonly installed into in homes, commonly found in the garage or storage area of a home ("Charging Plug-In Electric Vehicles at Home."). Brad Berman said that “…drivers putting typical amounts of miles on their cars will not be impinged by recharging times measured in hours—as long as they remember to plug in [their vehicle] before going to sleep [or immediately when the exit their vehicle]” (Berman, "Electric Cars Pros and Cons."). There are also charging sites for electric automobiles in some communities. These stations are more prominent in larger cities where the electric car population is much greater. Electric powered vehicles are a good thing for the environment and your wallet because they do not have tailpipe emissions, they are cheaper to operate, and they reduce the amount of acid rain. Replacing the use of gasoline powered cars with electric powered ones will greatly decrease pollutants from carbon dioxide in the air which will help preserve our environment, especially from damages of acid rain, so the Earth will be a better place to live. Also, switching to an electric vehicle will help you save more and more money every year. It’s obvious that gas-powered vehicles have harmed our planet with their emissions. Although EV’s cannot reverse that damage that has been done, they can eliminate, or at least slow down, the inevitable demise that our planet is headed towards.
