New forms of clean energy have been an extremely important topic of discussion for quite some time. This is due to increased awareness of global warming and the damage we have done to the environment leading to research in ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Thanks to growing advancements in technology, cleaner resources are more available than ever allowing more people to have access to things that they previously did not. One of these being electric vehicles; although these cars have been around since the late nineteenth century they did not become practical everyday cars until the twenty-first century. Leading the charge; companies like Tesla, Nissan and others have developed cars that are aesthetically pleasing and clean for the environment. …show more content…
Which many people think this is just a gas and electric conversation but in reality there is a lot more behind this issue. Electric cars have become extremely popular in the past decade thanks to the innovations of Tesla, Nissan, and many others. They have brought us the Model S, Model X, the Nissan Leaf, and the BMW I3; these cars are zero emission fully electric vehicles making them supposedly cleaner than normal gasoline powered vehicles. There are a lot more differences between the electric vehicles and the gas powered than how they get their energy. Normal gas powered cars are loud due to the combustion that takes place in the engine but in electric vehicles, the sound is close to nothing thanks to the electric motors, this cuts back on noise pollution heavily(Rinkesh). Although driving a quiet car is a strange feeling at first after a short adjustment period it will become normal, like the sound of a normal running car. A major difference that is seen is going to be on the technology that is found in the car itself. More often than not the electric car will have technology that isn't normally seen in normal cars, this can include the monstrous seventeen-inch touch screen in the dashboard(Bullis). Another feature in some of these cars is …show more content…
One of the coolest features that can be found in electric vehicles is found in the Tesla and its autopilot program. This system allows the vehicle to control itself in everyday driving conditions on freeways and normal streets, it allows the car to match traffic speeds, change lanes if it needs to, the transition from freeway to freeway, and this includes self-parking as well(@Teslamotors). This is a brand new feature as of 2016 in all Tesla vehicles, granted you're not going to see technology like that in all-electric vehicles you will see some variation of some of the features that clearly sets itself apart from normal cars. Also in the Tesla, the battery pack is built into the frame of the car which is very different from other electric vehicles because it allows for normal space in the cabin of the car(Bullis). This is important because in other electric vehicles the battery pack is much larger taking up more space, which causes a shortage of space in the car only
The Automotive, or electric car industry particularly, comprises all those companies and activities involved in the manufacture of electric motor vehicles (EV), including most components, such as engines, bodies and rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. The industry’s principal products are passenger automobiles. Despite the fact that the first electric cars were produced in 1880s , the advances in internal combustion engines, especially the electric starter, soon diminished the relative advantages of the electric car and became the dominant design in the market. Due to this the EV was almost a forgotten industry staying in the early stage of development, conforming to less than 1% of the automotive stock
Electric Cars use the energy stored in a battery (or series of batteries) for vehicle propulsion. Electric motors provide a clean and safe alternative to the internal combustion engine. There are many pros and cons about electric cars. The electric vehicle is known to have faster acceleration. They produce no exhaust.
An unfortunate factor with gas powered cars is the abundance of issues and the cost of fixing them that goes along with it. Gas powered cars tend to have more issues because of all the gas we are putting in it. Putting in a bad or low grade of gas eventually does some harmful wear and tear to the inside of the vehicles engine and other important parks. Also, its very easy to put the wrong thing inside of your gas-powered car trying to save money and it end up having more harmful effects. Electric cars don’t have the same issues as gas powered; therefore, you don’t have to take them in near as much and if you do the problems aren’t near as harmful or long lasting.
Electric cars have dated as far back as 1880, with the first model being mass produced in the later 1880’s. At early stages of automobiles, there were no clear benefits from either type of engine. In fact, a majority of cars in use at the time were electric. Steam and combustion engines were less developed and not as popular. Before the 1900’s an electric car held the land speed record for motor vehicles. (Bellis, 2014) As roads were built and the range that vehicles would need to travel increased, the need for a longer lasting vehicle rose. This is why at the turn of the century the popularity of gasoline powered engines arose. Electric vehicles were still valued for their short term transportation (within cities) and relatively easy use, but they began to lose prevalence as developments into combustion rose. Production for electric cars peaked in 1912 (Bellis, 2014) and saw a drastic decline since
Imagine that you’re driving on an open highway in the middle of summer. All you see in front of you is asphalt for miles and miles. The windows are down and your favorite song comes on the radio. You’re behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S, the newest electric car that can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in 2.4 seconds. This will soon be the future of all motor vehicles. Electric cars are beginning to have colossal impacts on our society because of their energy efficiency, performance benefits, and the fact that they are less harmful to the environment. In the near future, electric cars will dominate the road and eventually the planet’s overall need for oil will decrease immensely.
Not spending money on gas for the rest of your life is a huge selling point for many people. The problem is that recharging your car takes so long that sometimes it is not even worth it. Electric cars are also very good for our environment. Electric cars can help the environment by not emitting harmful gases and hurt our atmosphere in any way.
Purchasing a car is one of the hugest or biggest accomplishments that a person can achieve on their own. However, what happens when that purchase turns out to also be the worst decision that was ever made? The purchase was a success and a goal was achieved, but the moment the key is turned and the engine is started the contribution to environmental harm begins. As the car is driven, the gasoline fumes that are released from the car contribute to the other many factors and pollutants that damage the environment. Not only is the purchase now a contributor to the depletion of clean air, but it could also play a part in the depletion of someone’s health. For example, asthma or bronchitis could develop in an adult or child as a direct result of breathing in noxious automotive fumes. Depending on where one lives, there could be strict regulations on air pollution. One must be accountable for any and all contributions made to the demise of what was once a healthy Earth. One must be accountable for his or her own carbon footprint. Some individuals have taken steps to reduce their carbon footprints and cause less harm to the environment by purchasing electric cars.
I bet you didn't know that the first cars made were all mostly electric. But as time passed gas powered cars became more popular through the years. There were few if any electric cars available as timed moved on. Everyone believed that gas powered vehicles were more convenient than the electric powered ones. I believe that gas powered vehicles are better because gas powered cars have more function ability. The range that electric vehicles have is poor compared to gas vehicles. Electric vehicles don't function very well when the weather is cold. You'll need to charge your car pretty much every night. You are only going to be able to go 80 mph. If you go up a big hill your range goes down. electric vehicles (rather ev's) do pollute but they don't pollute the same way that gas cars pollute.
Most people today fill up their car with different qualities of petrol, because that's what the average car takes. They don't usually consider an alternative for the petrol that they load into their cars. Although petrol is widely used, it is not the only source for a car to get its power from; diesel and electricity are alternatives to the general petrol used by most cars. Although different from each other, diesel and electricity are alternatives to the average gasoline received at a gas station. Diesel is a more concentrated type of fuel that is usually used by big automobiles because they require a lot of power in a little amount of time. Electricity is a method that uses the power of batteries to produce a low horsepower but, nevertheless fast automobile. Electric cars are generally created to be soundless and environment friendly. The purpose of this paper is to classify and educate the reader of the different types of fuel available for an automobile to use: petrol, diesel, and electricity. The general petrol, used by most people, is usually the only type of fuel accepted on the average car in the United States today.
inhabitants. The electric vehicle also is far less noisy than those vehicles that run off of gas.
I believe that the concept for the use of electric and solar powered cars should be transitioned in place of environmental impacting gasoline cars. In fact, 75% of pollution is caused by the harmful fumes that cars put out. Not only would electric and solar powered cars be good for the environment, but it would also help you save money on gasoline. Cars that were powered other ways than gasoline showed to have more enhanced engine efficiency and they’re significantly quieter. Even though the idea of gasoline cars was a legendary idea, other forms of power for cars are a lot better.
Electric vehicles today come as small as bicycles and motor scooters and as big as buses. In Melbourne, for example, we are using electric powered trams as public transport. Many people fancy electric vehicles because they have many advantages compared to petrol fueled vehicles. The benefits are: • Quiet, Clean Driving Experience On a personal level, electric vehicles offer a quiet, fume-free, smooth driving experience.
While many people see them as the future, others see electric cars as a gimmick that is hurting the car market. Electric cars were first pushed to consumers as a green and a more economical choice. This fundamental idea is debated by many. Foremost, these cars are supposed to be better for the environment, as they release fewer greenhouse gasses over the whole life of the vehicle. An electric car releases less CO2 into the environment in day to day use.
Electric cars were recently introduced to the auto world. They are very fuel efficient while still having all the practicalities of a regular car. They are quiet and have zero emissions. They also are cheaper to maintain and cheaper to own then a gas powered car. Even though car enthusiasts dislike the idea of going fully electric, it is a very conscientious choice. Electric cars might seem like a useless form of transportation, but they offer features that help keep the Earth clean.
Electric cars are becoming increasingly more necessary, and have more advantages than disadvantages. Electric cars help to decrease the noise, pollution as they are much quieter. They do not emit any (or much less) carbon emission than petrol cars. Electric vehicles are the greenest mode of transport in the personal transportation industry. For each litre of fuel used in an engine produces more than 2.5kg of CO2. CO2 will be produced by an electric car but still a very little amount. It is also possible to use renewable power or a green energy supplier in the electric car. Thus it would lead to less polluted and safe working environment for all of us. However, safety is a big concern with using vehicles. The fluids in the batteries actually take impact better than a fully made gas car because it is not that flammable. Petrol cars and diesel cars are more flammable than electric cars so they are greater of taking impact in the event of an accident. I think that this is a very good reason because fewer people would get injured or hurt. This would save money because electricity is cheaper than gas and electric cars are easy to operate. Also is very ECO –friendly which mean that it is cheaper to run and have to pay very little road tax. In a pure electric vehicle there’s nothing combustible and have far fewer moving parts than you would find in a petrol or diesel car.
