With the pre-abortion ultrasound bill in the process of being established, informed consent, cost, etc. it appears that there is a major infringement on a woman’s right to choose because there are many obstacles to go through before receiving an abortion.
Causes of the problem
According to pro-life arguments, some of the reasons people are against abortion is because they view abortion as murder because life begins at conception, which means unborn babies are human beings from the beginning. Another argument is that the fetus can feel pain during an abortion and there are plenty of arguments against abortion regarding religion. The abortion is murder opinion is a popular one, individuals justify it by saying the fetus and mother are two different individuals; with that being said, the mother should not have a choice to abort the baby, because it is a separate being. Although science shows the fetus develops features fairly early in the pregnancy that make it seem more human, the fetus is still inside the woman’s body and what she wants to do with that fetus should be her choice.
A second popular argument against abortion is religion based. Since the day the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case legalized

Funding for abortion is an issue, there is a group known as the Kentucky Health Justice Network (KHJN.) KHJN is a group made up of grassroots educators, Board of Directors, community activists, and volunteers dedicated to expressing numerous areas of reproductive justice. This Kentucky Support Network supports abortion seeking clients with any financial, transportation, interpretation, or other abortion related issues they may have. This group is a member of a larger group known as the national Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF.) The NNAF works to ensure that people can access the legal abortions they are
...ions over her own body; whether it is parenthood, adoption, contraception, or yes, abortion. After all, it is entirely plausible for people to be personally pro-life but politically pro-choice – this suggests that they respect each individuals’ rights over his or her own body and recognize that each woman should be allowed to have options. Regardless of whether or not she chooses to have the child, it is the fact that she has a choice that is crucial, and it is imperative that each woman have the freedom of individual autonomy. In order for this to occur, abortion must continue to be legal. Ultimately, being pro-choice is not necessarily advocating the use of abortion – it is about ensuring that abortion is legal so that women may have the option to exercise their right to individual autonomy and make the decisions that best reflects their stance in life.
Abortion, defined as the intentional termination of a pregnancy, is one of the most highly debated liberties of all time. Approximately one to three million abortions are performed each year. Women receive abortions for reasons such as rape, teen pregnancy, and health concerns. Unfortunately, it is a liberty that some still wish to eradicate due to religious beliefs and misconceptions. Abortion should remain a legal option for women because illegal abortions result in far more fatalities, religion does not serve as grounds for a law, and most importantly, there is no conclusive evidence that a fetus is equal to a human being.
Abortion has been the topic of controversy for many decades. Many people believe that when a woman terminates a pregnancy, she is committing murder and others argue that a woman has the right to choose life or abortion. There are different procedures to choose when having an abortion, depending on the gestational age and the woman 's health a pill form abortion may be used up to 9 weeks gestation (mifepristone and misoprostol), but for women who are over 12-weeks gestation (late-term abortion), surgical abortion is used (Berer 25). In 1973, the supreme court ruled that abortion was to be legalized, Roe vs. Wade. Women were given the legal right to choose to terminate their pregnancies and make the correct arrangements for their decisions. Different states have different restrictions to accessing abortion procedures, making the woman 's choice to terminate pregnancy less accessible. Restricting a woman 's access to appropriate abortion clinics limits her right to choose.
According to St. Thomas Aquinas, Catholic priest and philosopher, a fetus is not a human being because it does not possess language or articulated thought - one of the defining aspects of human nature (qtd. in Eco 51). Theoretically speaking, a fetus is not a human until it can think and talk. With that being clarified, the rest of the essay will first include arguments for, and then arguments against, abortion. My number one argument against abortion is religion. I believe that once egg meets sperm in the womb and even before this has happened, a life has begun. If you take the bible for example there
The permissibility of abortion has been a crucial topic for debates for many years. People have yet to agree upon a stance on whether abortion is morally just. This country is divided into two groups, believers in a woman’s choice to have an abortion and those who stand for the fetus’s right to live. More commonly these stances are labeled as pro-choice and pro-life. The traditional argument for each side is based upon whether a fetus has a right to life. Complications occur because the qualifications of what gives something a right to life is not agreed upon. The pro-choice argument asserts that only people, not fetuses, have a right to life. The pro-life argument claims that fetuses are human beings and therefore they have a right to life. Philosopher, Judith Jarvis Thomson, rejects this traditional reasoning because the right of the mother is not brought into consideration. Thomson prepares two theses to explain her reasoning for being pro-choice; “A right to life does not entail the right to use your body to stay alive” and “In the majority of cases it is not morally required that you carry a fetus to term.”
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. According to the Oxford dictionary, the term abortion can be defined as, the deliberate termination of human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. There are two different types of abortion; a spontaneous abortion, which is also known as a miscarriage, and an induced abortion, where the embryo or fetus is purposely removed from the women’s body. The topic of induced abortion has been widely debated for hundreds of years. The issue of abortion was argued way back in the time of the ancient Hebrews. Today many people consider abortion to be murder, but shouldn’t the soon-to-be mother 's right to make such a personal and heartbreaking choice be
One of the largest and most upsetting problems with abortion is that it can be classified as murder. The baby technically starts life after conception where he or she can be considered a person. The “right-to-life statute” states that a baby is considered a person by conception therefore making abortion murder (Kolb 1123). At this point in life, the baby has no say in whether or not it lives or dies, therefore denying his or her rights, denying him or her of a chance to be someone. By denying the baby life, one is also denying the society the potential life contributions of the future child (ProCon.org).
Many women describe it as a privilege and miracle, while others consider the act itself of conceiving and carrying another human being as an inexplicable feeling. Those women that enjoy the opportunity of being a mother cherish every moment and appreciate it as a wonderful gift. Although this stands as a beautiful thing, there exists women choosing to abort. Women of all ages may face the decision of whether or not to terminate the life that they carry in their womb through the abortion process. Nevertheless, late term abortion results in terrifying consequences. The procedure causes health complications for the mother, inflicts pain on a living fetus, and kills the unborn baby.
Aborting an unborn fetus is not an activity that happens once and it is done, it continues to dwell on all of the individuals involved with the process. Abortion is a cruel action to perform and has other options. Individuals who are pro-life consider the fact that even as a young fetus, it is a human being. Abortion is a very controversial topic. There are many different aspects to consider before receiving an abortion; cultural opinions, psychological effects on the woman, and the termination of an already developing fetus. Abortion not only takes away individual tissues forming, it has the potential to take away a future friend, sibling or spouse.
In this case however, because abortion is a personal choice, the morality of it is also up to individual discretion. Abortion is not a new topic, but it is still not accepted by many. Much of the arguments pertaining abortion, from both pro-choice and pro-life are strongly based on unclear definitions and highly opinionated beliefs. While pro-choice supporters may argue about the time when a fetus becomes a person, the biological process of a fetus’ development offers a clearcut and unbiased answer, conception begins at the fertilization of an egg by a sperm. While personhood might be an abstract and complex argument, life is not. However, to believe this argument is not obligatory and therefore abortion should be available to those who do not consider a fetus a person, but do consider abortion a right. Whether something is morally permissible or not have a direct correlation on the United States’ laws. After all, morality is nothing more than a personal choice based on one’s own beliefs and therefore is subjective. Even if abortion is morally wrong, it should be
Abortion Taking out the trash, or taking a human life? That is what most the argument is with abortion, some believe that abortion is okay because the fetus is not yet a person, and that the fetus will be nothing but trouble. On the other side people believe that even all the way down to the zygote (when sperm meets the egg and earliest stage of pregnancy) there is a human growing in you. A growing boy or girl, with their own little fingers, and toes, their own cute as can be toothless smile, and their functioning organs. To them one day that zygote will turn into someone great, a person just like you and I that needs love just as you and I, a person that deserves to not get taken from our world before it even has a chance to take its first breath.
In 1976 the pro-life group pushed for legislation to restrict abortion. Congress then passed a bill for the Department of Labor that will include ending the right to file an abortion on Medicaid funding known as the “Hyde Amendment,” which will ban federal funding for this type of procedure. The pro-life organization was very happy of this decision; they thought that this would make it harder for women to have an abortion done and if the procedure was hard to fund themselves, than they would have no choice but to keep the
Abortion has been one of the most talked about topics in society just about anywhere from television, magazines, whether or not it should be the right or wrong thing to do. Abortion is a very sensitive issue to discuss, because of its nature. Many people have said that abortion is a very bad thing to do and it should not even be choice whether or not to abort a living fetus. People think that abortion is committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. However, others feel that a woman should have a voice and have the right to choose to keep the child or not and that it is not murder until the baby is born. Majority of individuals who believe that abortion is bad say that the fetus is human who is partly being formed and to have an abortion is considered to be murder. For the people who think an abortion is ok, say that it’s not considered murder unless the child is born. I believe that abortion should be seen in which the stage the fetus is in. if the fetus is in an early stage of pregnancy it is not considered murder, but if the fetus has already began to develop into a larger fetus then it is indeed considered to be murder. There are times when abortion can be accepted, if the mother is having complications due to pregnancy. For example if the mother is enduring complications in her pregnancy that can harm her, because of the child in that case it is ok to perform an abortion to help save the mother’s life. It is also very important to understand this type of situation. The mother has the right to have an abortion and it is her decision because a mother knows best about her health conditions.
