Ryan Ciminski Coury World History-10A 09 September 2017 What changed. All states face an individual, group, or other state that is an adversary to their state's security, development, and values. In order to face these threats, countries must change in order to defend who they are and what they represent. This was learned on September 11th, 2001 when radicalist insurgents attempted and succeeded to make a permanent scar on the United States of America. The acts committed tried to make a direct hit on America's core values and identity. This was not only an attack on America, it was an attack on the civilized world. Horrifying videos and photos of violent and sinister acts that shook America to its core, a scene that is likely to never be forgotten, or would it? Time took the deadly sting out of the feelings felt on 9/11. With this, life resumed for the unaffected and they allowed themselves to be ignorant of the ongoing threat. All must understand the world still has a war on terror and the threat is still alive and well. Though memorializing this event may raise the public's awareness, it will never stop the threat. We must memorialize 9/11 in which we put all the country’s strength and effort to stop the threat. This would include increasing the United States Department of Homeland Security's budget, enhance tracking of potential threats, and possibly creating highway checkpoints to ensure the freedom of movement for all. We must memorize the lives lost but also, learn from it. America has a evolving threat that it must work diligently to terminate. There are a bunch of conspiracies in this world and there's a few on the tragedy that happened on September 11, 2001. One of the theories is that inside traders knew about the attacks before they happened. As said in an article, “in the days before 9/11 there was a huge increase in the number of put options purchased on their airlines, compared to the normal average daily volume.”(Davis) Before I explain what that means the article also mentioned, “ this huge increase in the volume of put options suggests that the people buying these put options knew in advance that 9/11 was about to happen.” (Davis) What the quotes are saying, is that a few days before 9/11, out of nowhere, there was an huge increase in the airlines, that were hijacked, stock markets. The conspiracy theory is that the government was aware of the attacks the entire time but because they were making profit, this did nothing about it.
People didn’t wake up the next morning and looked forward to their day starting. They were afraid that an attack would happen. People knew that an attack could happen any moment of any day. People were devastated when their loved ones passed on such a tragedy that everyone will remember forever because every year on the day it happened they will get reminded. The attack on September 11, 2001 continues to be the biggest historical event. This is truly something no one would forget. These attacked caused the united states to turn differently. Airport now have very strict security. I can assure that if we had the security we have now, back then this probably wouldn’t have occurred. These events made history. It nearly took the united states about 15 years to find him and kill him. He was found by the american soldiers in his compound near islamabad, pakistan. He was responsible for many deadly acts of terrorism. The attack on new york city is the most known one because it changed the world. New york didn’t live the same after this tragedy. These both events impacted us pretty serious. It made the U.S army more prepared for another attack. If they were to attack us we would be ready. This attack was a wake-up call to American security. 9/11 forced the country to acknowledge its shortcomings and fix them, before any more harm could come upon the United States of America. 9/11, as all acts of terror do, promoted the growth of technology, in this case, security in the United States. 9/11 also brought about feelings of hatred to the country. This was a very emotional event that occurred. Many people lost loved ones they cared about in the terrorist attack. For many Americans knowing that terrorist groups could attack U.S. soil scared a lot of people. Before, President Bush first addressed the nation on this terrible event many people had lost hope. When writing his speech, it was easy for him to relate to what happened. While we were on our D.C. trip we got to go to the 9/11 memorial, it was such an honor to be able to go. By going it was definitely an eye opener for me to really see how many people lost their lives and how many families lost their loved ones. You don’t truly understand how many people died and what a tragedy this event was until you actually see the memorial or if you saw what actually happened, it is amazing to think that all those firefighters gave their live to help protect others. These people should be honored throughout history because of what they did. By really hearing about the 9/11 attack and getting to see the memorial really opened my eyes to see how serious it really was and how many lives in ended and how many families it affected. The memorial is such an amazing place to be and to think that where you are standing is where the twin towers used to stand and where so many people used to work. Not only did the attack affect the people on the planes or in the buildings, but also the people who lived or worked around that area. One example is the phobia people now have against people of Middle-Eastern decent or people that practice the Islamic religion.
