Marty (26) swings by the California Correctional Center (CCC) to pick his brother Derek (24) up from the prison gates. After picking his brother up in their father’s hunting truck, the two hit the California highway and catch up on old times. During the conversation, Derek tells Marty he wants to stay out this time and help the family as much as possible. Marty, tells Derek he needs to since their father took their mother’s death harder than anyone else in the family. The two brothers come to an agreement to help one another just as Marty enters the Route 1 highway. A few minutes into the drive, Marty and Derek get into an argument and Derek, tries to grab the steering wheel causing the truck the drift in the other lane. Marty’s able to …show more content…

His brother tries to calm him down, and starts driving faster in order to create more separation from the officer behind them. After seeing how fast Marty was going, Derek tells him to “slow down!” and Marty complies. Marty’s tears begin to build up under his eyes blurring his vision and he doesn’t realize that the truck is making its way in the other lane again. Derek, however, sees the truck going left and shouts for Marty to “stay in your lane!” Marty, at this point, gets nervous and swerves back into his causing the tires to screech. Although the officer isn’t near the truck, he witnesses the commotion and turns on his sirens to pull the truck over. Derek tells his brother that he’s not going back to jail, and unbuckles his seat belt to hide the pepper spray can just in case the officer decides to search the truck. He tries to find anything that would link Derek to a parole violation so he could take him to jail. Fortunately, Marty’s marijuana wasn’t found and the officer never saw Derek hide the pepper spray. When the two saw the officer walking back to the cruiser, they knew he didn’t find anything and would release them. The officer approaches the cruiser, looks at Derek and asks him if he’s feeling lucky? Derek keeping calm, simply responds and asks him if he found anything. Marty then demands the officer to let them go, since they haven’t done anything wrong. The officer reminds the brother’s that they fought in front of him right before exiting the vehicle. Before Derek could ask the officer another question he’s told to “shut the hell up.” Marty lashes out and tells the officer, he needs to “shut up.” Derek’s blood begins to bowl over, and he demands the officer not to tell him to shut up. The back door swings open, and the officer grabs Derek by the face and orders him out of the cruiser. Marty watches and tries to calm his brother
