This park was closed in August of 2014 after the completion of the new stadium making the Levi’s Stadium only a few months old. Over the course of the 1921 and 22 seasons, the Packers underwent a transformation where they replaced most of their local talent with players from big-time colleges or other pro teams. As a result, they were highly competitive on the field from the beginning and, in turn, able to establish a firm foothold within the league. “In 1927, when the NFL decided to cut its franchises almost in half and eliminate many of its smaller cities, Green Bay survived ,Then before the 1929 season, They hit the jackpot.”While the Packers were in the process of winning the 1931 championship, they also were blindsided by what could have been a Disastrous event. “In their second game against the Brooklyn Dodgers, a local fan, Willard J. Bent, injured his back when a section of bleachers at city stadium collapsed, and he fell nearly 10 feet to the ground”,he sued them for 5,000 dollars .On April 3, 1956, voters approved a referendum to fund the construction of the stadium. “It was dedicated on Sept. 29, 1957, and called new City Stadium until it was renamed Lambeau Field in 1965.””On Blackbourn’s watch, the Packers also drafted Forrest Gregg, Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor and Ray Nitschke, all future Pro Football Hall of Famers.”McLean lasted one season. He submitted his resignation under fire on Dec. 17, 1958, following a 1-10-1 finish, the worst in Packers
Ultimately, there are three exceptionally important criteria for deciding on good candidate for an expansion team. The first criterion is that the stadium must be controlled or owned by the baseball team. The stadium is a crucial aspect because most of the team’s revenue is generated in relation to the stadium. This stadium revenue comprises of ticket sales, parking, merchandise and concessions. Thus, without a stadium, the team will not be able to generate a stable source of revenue. The second criterion is that local ownership must have strong roots within the community. Without ties to the community, fan attendance could decrease. This is because fans could eventually perceive that the owner(s)’s only goal for the MLB franchise was to be profitable. The third criterion is the city must have long-term political support in the community. It is vital to have political support in order to gain financial support throughout the team’s years of existence, especially in tax payer monies. Particularly, this is significant when the team experiences issues or fights that involve the stadium and the land around the stadium. If there is a lack of political support, the expansion teams will not be able to obtain enough for money for stadium renovations, repairs, or to build new stadiums for the same team within the same city. This circumstance was apparent when the New York Yankees used tax revenue generated by New York City to fund the building of their brand new stadium for the 2009 season. Therefore, expansion committees believe it is necessary to confirm that the prospective cities will have enough political support because this political factor will help stabilize and financially support the prosp...

Only the exterior walls and a small seating portion at the south end of the field are historic remainders. Many new and modern extensions were added to the field.
History of the Football Team the Rams The history of the Rams has not always been in St. Louis as most of you. already know. In 1937 a group of business executives decided they wanted a home town football team, so they built a stadium that held 3000 people in the middle of Cleveland, Ohio. They held try outs for players who wanted to play.
Pittsburgh is known as a sports’ town that gets behind their three teams. Being located in Pittsburgh, the Steelers use one of the main companies in the city for the stadium name, which is called Heinz Field. The location allows for many local sponsors to get involved with the team, while, at the same time, it creates business for the stores and restaurants around the city. In 2010, Forbes rated Pittsburgh as the most livable city in the U.S. (Levy). This gives incentive to players to feel comfortable once they begin to raise a family while playing for Steelers.

Prior to the current stadium, the Cowboys’ home was one of the most recognizable professional sports stadiums of its time. It all started in 1946 when the San Francisco 49ers first began their franchise. In 1950 is when the moved to the National Football League. They earned their name from the gold miners who surged in San Francisco, in 1849, in search for gold so they could start a new life. Their first owner, Anthony J. Morabito, who was from the University of Santa Clara alumnus, had a dream of bringing a football team to the west. He had been moderately successful in the lumber hauling business. To make this happen, Anthony was put in touch with Arch Ward, an editor of the Chicago Tribune. Mr. Ward is credited with the All-American Conference, which was first held in October 1944. Anthony, after a long talk and negotiating with Mr. Ward, was granted a franchise with help from his younger brother, Victor, and partners in his lumbering business, Allen E. Sorrell, and E. J. Turre (“Niner’s history” www.49ersparadise.com).
In the heart of downtown Los Angeles nestled within the valley of Chavez Ravine lies Dodger Stadium. Overlooking green valleys and rolling hills with the skyscrapers of the city behind it, Dodger Stadium appears as the epitome of peace in bustling Los Angeles. Few would fathom that beneath this sanctum of the Los Angeles Dodgers resides a village of Mexican Americans. Critics ranging from muralist Judy Baca, to academic writers Tara Yosso and David García, to the people displaced themselves argue that the creation of Dodger Stadium can never be justified because it destroyed a village. The construction of Dodger Stadium served the common good according to the definition given in the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences. The demolition of Palo Verde, La Loma, and Bishop was the fault of the City Housing Authority (CHA), not owner Walter O’Malley who capitalized on Chavez Ravine at the right moment. O’Malley was primarily a businessman who was in charge of the team to make money in order to satisfy thousands of customers while supporting the club’s workers. Finally, the majority of people living in Los Angeles supported the addition of a baseball team which would in turn benefit the city itself.
NFL teams are practicing lightly so far this year, training camp is multiple weeks away, and the first preseason game isn't going to be played for months. The new defense has not been completely installed yet and neither has the new offense. We do not know whether the special teams unit will be as effective as it has been the past several seasons because Chip Kelly's practice schedule is no longer in place to provide extra reps and the overall depth chart isn't even being considered at this point because players are currently sporting shorts and t-shirts on the field.
Most European cities can boast of a professional football (soccer) club and a competitive rivalry with a neighboring team. However, Glasgow, Scotland is the home of one of the oldest and most heated rivalries in the world. Two of the most prestigious football clubs in Europe, Celtic and Rangers, both call Glasgow their home. The cross-town rivals first met on the pitch on February 28, 1888. At that point, "none of the 2,000 spectators at the game could have guessed that they were present at a historic occasion, for that evening marked the first of what was to become the most famous, long-lasting – and bitter – sporting rivalry in the history of football" (Murray 4). Almost a hundred years after the inaugural match, the conflict between fans came to fruition when Celtic and Rangers met in the 1980 Scottish Cup Final. Immediately following an entertaining and relatively problem free match, built up tension exploded into violent riots before anyone had even le! ft the stadium. Celtic supporters, excited after the victory, rushed the field to celebrate with their beloved players. Angered by the loss and the expression of joy shown by their nemesis, Rangers fans also rushed the field. However,
One of the main reasons why the 49ers could be considered the best team in the National Football League is because they are tied for second place with the most superbowl victories. SanFrancisco won the superbowl in 1981, 1984, 1988, 1989, and 1994. A superbowl is won each year by the best team in football and every year a team strives to get to the playoffs. The 49ers are one of the only eight teams in the NFL to win back to back superbowls in 1988, and 1989. In 1989 SanFrancisco defeated the Denver Broncos in superbowl XXIV 55-10 which to this day is still the largest superbowl victory margin ever .
The Lions have also faced some adversity when it comes to hosting their game. That reached its peaked in the most recent century, as fans and owners began to wonder if the league should replace the Lions on the ticket because of their losing trend.
