“The truth is that I oppose the Iraq war, just as I opposed the Vietnam War, because these two conflicts have weakened the U.S. and diminished our standing in the world and our national security,” George McGovern. In other words the Iraq War has caused for the nation’s security to diminish.Even though the U.S faced terrorist threats and attacks, the Iraq war was not justified because there was no valid reason for going to war and the nation went further into debt. One of the major reasons was the cost the war had, the overall cost was over 1.7 trillion dollars. That was not all the government spent on the Iraq though, there was over 400 billion dollars spent on the war vets, but in the next four decades the cost would increase. He would use poison gas on his enemies and had no remorse. Close to the end of the war the reign of Saddam Hussein ended with his death. The downfall of Saddam Hussein was the biggest highlight of the Iraq War. Like all wars many lives were lost, but in my opinion in this war the lost lives in this war were unjustified. We could’ve saved thousands of lives by not joining the seven year war. Over 200,00 thousand lives were lost and many more were left severely injured and disabled. If we were to include the journalists, reporters and humanitarian workers the death toll would rise another 100,000. Not only did the U.S lose hundreds of thousands of citizens but so did Iraq. Iraqi soldiers lost was about the same as the United States death toll but that doesn’t include thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens. One of the biggest question being asked about the war is, is Iraq better off after the war? The U.S went to fight for democracy and tried to strengthen it after the war. The democracy project established by President George W. Bush is so far failing it’s purpose. After the U.S troops left Iraq, Iraq began to function as a failed democracy. The Iraqi government fails to gain control of many territories in Iraq. Many Iraqis agree that Iraq was better of before the …show more content…
The United States went to war with Iraq with a goal to eliminate terrorism. The United States declared war on Iraq after the terrorist events of 9/11. On September 11, 2001 the Al- Qaeda extremist group led by Osama bin Laden led a series of events that caused over thousands of innocent citizens to die. On this day United States vowed to fight terrorism, citizens were furious and seeked justice for the acts. The United States did manage to find and kill Osama Bin Laden , they found him in a room with two guns surrounding him, they shot and killed him. President Obama did say, ‘Justice, has been served,” in other words Obama said that Osama Bin Laden has gotten his sentence and has finally been able to pay for his crimes. Osama Bin Laden was born in Saudi Arabia and was born to the owner of the biggest construction company in the Saudi Kingdom. Bin Laden had a privileged life, his siblings were educated in the west. Osama Bin Laden on the other hand preferred to stay close to home, he studied in Jihad and like many young men he joined the Islamic group. For Bin Laden Islamic was more than a religion to him, he revolved his way of life, his political beliefs and became a follower of the radical Abdullah Azzam. Azzam was a scholar and choose to take bin Laden under his wing and teach him his ways. Osama bin Laden vowed that it would be Al-Qaeda and not the Americans who would be ruler of this
On May 1, 2011, President Barack Obama delivered the speech announcing the death of the former leader of al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden was responsible for thousands of deaths on the September 11th terrorist attacks in the US along with leaving children without a father or a mother for the rest of their lives. The speech was what Americans were waiting for after all the evil that bin Laden has done in the world. Throughout the speech, Obama uses rhetorical appeals such as ethos, pathos, and logos to address the nation saying that justice is served by killing Osama bin Laden and making the speech effective to the audience.
According to the USA News, the war in Iraq was totally worth it. Despite the loss of almost 4,488 American and more than 32,000 Americans wounded, America have to remember that Iraq was out for the USA and had we not freed Iraq from Saddam dictatorship then we would still be today fighting. The facts and the truth may never be truly reveled, but the fact stands that this war had to happen and Iraq needed America to aid them to their freedom and democracy (USA News).
Saddam Hussein’s main purpose of sending troops to take over Kuwait was to take control of their oil fields, which Hussein believed would be an easy task; however, he failed to understand that the United States and United Nations were keeping a very close watch on the Iraqi’s actions. Hussein also had other motives, such as freeing himself from the debt he was drowning in from the Iran-Iraq War just two years earlier. He set the pretense for war with Kuwait by defining their refusal to give land to Iraq as an act of military belligerence. President Bush ordered the United States to respond just five days after Iraq had invaded Kuwait. If the United States had not taken action, Hussein would have possibly continued to invade other oil producing countries and take control of the United States main sources of oil as well as threaten a number of innocent people’s lives.
Osama bin Laden was an adversary of the West for years and it was known to the whole world. Unfortunately, he took it a little further by having two planes fly into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon and another plane possibly for the White House. As we all know, this is the unforgettable day of September 11, 2001. Thousands of Americans were innocently murdered that day and in our own country by a terrorist organization. The United States of America would not stand for this and rapidly sought out Osama Bin Laden for what he had done to us. This is the day that caused the United States to accelerate the search and destruction efforts of bin Laden. Soon after September 11th, the United States was very involved in Afghanistan in trying to find him.
The war in Iraq was declared in March 2003 for many reasons. Some of the reasons are to free Iraq, the oil, and because Saddam Hussein did not allow weapons inspectors search for nuclear weapons. The US wanted to take over Iraq and free its people from the torture they had been enduring for so long. Saddam Hussein had developed weapons of mass destruction that posed a long-term threat to America. He denied weapons inspectors access to search for nuclear war weapons and this served as a threat to other countries. The aim had been the destruction of the Iraqi society enabling the US and Britain to gain control of Iraq's huge oil reserves.
On September 11, 2001, our country was hit with enormous devastation, just after eight o’clock a.m. the first of the twin towers was struck by a suicide pilot, the second was struck slightly later. The towers fell just after ten o’clock a.m., devastating the entire country, and ruining the lives of many. A plane also hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and another in rural Pennsylvania causing just as much grief. The U.S. is still in mourning, but standing tall, more Americans showed their American pride in the following months than ever before. In the months to come the only thing that was on the minds of millions was: Should we go to war? War is necessary for the survival of our country. Going to war with Iraq is a fight against terrorism. Many people believed that going to war with Iraq is unjust. Some believe that there are other ways in looking at the situation.
In this paper, I intend to analyze Iraq war of 2003 from Realist and Marxist/ Critical perspectives. I intend to draw a conclusion as to which theoretical framework, in my opinion, is more suitable and provides for a rational understanding of the Iraq War. While drawing comparative analysis of two competing approaches, I do not intend to dismiss one theory in entirety in favour of another. However, I do intend to weigh on a golden balance, lacunas of both theories in order to conclude as to which theory in the end provides or intends to provide a watertight analysis of the Iraq war.
He ruled Iraq with a virtual iron fist. His use of fear and intimidation is well known among the Iraqi people and it worked for over 20 years as he ruled without question.
The history of the United states consisted of victories, losses, and the ones who cause it. Osama Bin Laden was a man who caused the loses of many lives and also caused the victory of strength. Although Osama has caused an abundance of negative impacts to the United States, many things were learned from it. As unbelievable as it is, Bin Laden was an advantage in many ways that may not overrule the negative but is still significant. We have learned that the attacks were due to actions committed by our own Country and was not a random attack as well as the fact that our leaders cannot always be trusted. Not only have we learned but we took action in our new lessons. Additionally, Osama has shown America and many places around the world what exactly religion has to do with politics and finally, what many people around the work want and feel. Although Osama Bin Laden was a man that had negative intentions that led to many calamities, he was a voice that spoke out and allowed America to understand that the freedom we had was not replicated all over the world manly due to what America has done. Osama Bin Laden was one man who killed thousands, cost millions, and impacted billions of people and had an impact that was beneficial, and immensely negative to society and those who lived in it.
Osama Bin Laden (OBL) hated the U.S. because he believed that the western influences would ruin Islam. He disliked U.S. support of neighboring countries. Osama bin Laden was a very religious man and he deeply respected Islam and despised of any person or nation who he felt disrespected his religion. He especially hated the United States because of past actions. The ideas OBL had of America was the U.S. being materialistic, Islam hating westerners. One of the main reasons he hated the U.S. was that their troops were stationed in Saudi Arabia and he thought were nothing but non-Muslim infidels to him. In Islamic, tradition states that there should not be two religions in Arabia. OBL didn’t see the U.S. troops as a defending force for the Saudis,
9/11 was one of the darkest days in America, but some say the government could have been part of these attacks. For many years people have debated about the 9/11 cover up. This theory cannot explain why the government would do this. Once people understand why the 9/11 cover up is fake, they will begin to see the answer to their problem, could the government have done this? This conspiracy theory is wrong because, terrorists admitted to the attacks, so many people died, and there's no evidence against the government.
...inated from Iraq and the region. After his timely death, the region was able to run smoothly, so to speak. Iraq has had it’s ups and downs when it came to the Hussein regime. On the positive side, Saddam did boost oil revenue and production early in his presidency. Yet, throughout his presidency it was a downward spiral that created his rule as a tyrant and abusive leader who killed thousands of people and injured countless more. What Saddam Hussein did to the Iraqi Kurds can never be fixed, but they can now live with a peace of mind and not have to worry about chemical attacks anymore. Saddam Hussein is and was a tyrant no matter how you look at it. Even if there was a good thing a shadow of bad things followed. He had the people of Iraq fooled at the beginning, but they soon saw the true side of Saddam Hussein… evil, cruel, and an abusive leader to his country.
...aling with. Terrorism is the war’s main cause and affects the soldiers the most. Since the war, Terrorist attacks have become one of American’s biggest fears. From having to worry about many different aspects of life to terrorism is a horrible way to live. President Bush made the decisions he did on facts and what he thought was best for the country. If the US never went to war with Iraq, what would the world be like now? Questions like these, still haunt us, and will never be answered. The war has impacted everyone’s lives in some shape or form. Without the war, no one knows what life would be like but we do know that because of war, the world will never be the same.
Al Qaeda is leading by Osama bin laden that was born and grown up in Saudi Arabia; his family was very rich and respected by Saudi Royal household and the public. When he finished his University in Saudi Arabia, he becomes an extreme religious person. Osama started to help Islamist movement against communist in Yemen (Gunaratna, 2005) . In December 1997 when Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan he went to Pakistan and then Afghanistan to help Afghan group to protect it from Soviet Union. At the time a Palestinian Jordanian, Dr Abdullah Azzam esta...
You asked me a while ago about my opinion on this conflict occurring in Vietnam, and I thought deeply about it in the meantime while awaiting my other colleagues to write back. After giving it some thought, I have declared that I do not support the Vietnam War because I personally believe that this conflict is absolutely meaningless. The primary reason as to why this war started is because communism was seeking to expand into Vietnam much the way it had attempted to expand into Korea, and of course we have our policy to contain any threats toward the well being of the citizens of any nation risking the overthrow of a government. Now I am not disagreeing with the protecting of other nations, as that is a justified priority. However, engaging in a war with an easily corruptible government such, as Vietnam's is foolish, as it was their own choice to practice communism. Nevertheless, the United States had to be the totalitarian nation that it is and send tens of thousands of kids to their deaths over in a foreign land just to hold the communists to what they had prior to their expansion(s). The government has justified this response to Vietnam's corruption with something called the Domino Theory; that if Vietnam
