Gas Car vs Electric Car There are ongoing debates in the midst of environmental issues and global warming campaign that lead to the endorsement of purchasing and using electric cars, to replace gas cars. The claim says the emission caused by gas cars creates the destruction of ozon layer from its production of carbon monoxide. Fewer know that the production of carbon monoxide is not entirely bad for environment, plants consumes carbon monoxide to form carbon dioxide for photosynthesis purposes. And yes, its toxic effect harm humans and animals and the rapid oxidation to form carbon dioxide affect the world climate (source: German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development/Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und …show more content…
Is that really a fact or just half true? The stereotype about all cars without departmentalizing between the gas cars in their improper maintenance that cause bad smog with the gas cars which are in a good maintenance by its owner and not causing excessive smog, is just simply ignorance. Fossil fuels is another term used to vilify the gas cars, because gas cars devour it. Beside of its negative contribution to the world destruction, burning fossil fuels that dug from the earth makes the earth unbalance during her lifespan. The effect that concerns the environmentalists is the earth is dying, giving the phenomena from the melting ice cap in the both poles. Again, is that true that the ice melts because of climate change effects. One answer at the time, ice cap in either pole is not really melting, instead from the notable reports say the ice gets more and more (source: The Hill website that share report from NASA at http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/energy-environment/259287-nasas-study-on-antarcticas-ice-its-growing). That is one myth that huge number of people strongly believe through some misled propagandas. But that is not really the issue in this
The planet we live in, the earth is a tiny composition in this huge universe. It has diversities ranging from highly variant temperature and pressure belts as well as various ecosystem types. One such remarkable feature of the earth is the polar ice caps. There are three major prominent features, the Antarctic ice on the South Pole, the Arctic ice on the North Pole and Greenland on the north between North America and Europe. Antarctica consist about 90 percent of the world's ice (and 70 percent of its fresh water). It is covered with ice an average of 2,133 meters (7,000 feet) thick. If all of the Antarctic ice melted, sea levels around the world would rise about 61 meters (200 feet). The Arctic ice is not so thick in comparison and it mostly floats in the Arctic Ocean. Greenland, on the other hand would add another 7 meters (20 feet) to the oceans if it melted because Greenland is closer to the equator than Antarctica, the temperatures there are higher, so the ice is more likely to melt. Scientists from the Universities of London and Edinburgh say that ice loss in Antarctica and Greenland together contribute approximately 12 percent of the rise in sea levels. The melting of these enormous ice bodies can significantly impact the global changes in climate and reversely, this climate changes also impact the melting of the ice bodies. It is a two way process and the causes are mostly anthropogenic.
An unfortunate factor with gas powered cars is the abundance of issues and the cost of fixing them that goes along with it. Gas powered cars tend to have more issues because of all the gas we are putting in it. Putting in a bad or low grade of gas eventually does some harmful wear and tear to the inside of the vehicles engine and other important parks. Also, its very easy to put the wrong thing inside of your gas-powered car trying to save money and it end up having more harmful effects. Electric cars don’t have the same issues as gas powered; therefore, you don’t have to take them in near as much and if you do the problems aren’t near as harmful or long lasting.
In order to first convince a wide majority of people that something needs to be done to stop the destruction of our environment, people first need to know exactly what is harmful about gasoline vehicles. In the United States, approximately 6.6 tons of greenhouse gases are emitted per person every year. Most of the greenhouse gas emi...
With talk of global warming still being threatened by scientists and governments, the depletion of the polar ice is a major concern. Many experiments have been done to monitor current ice levels and predict future ice levels. Since then scientists have tried to discover what would cause the melting of our polar ice. One major concern is that the melting of the polar ice would create extreme flooding for all costal and island inhabitants. Is the polar ice melting and could greenhouse gases be the cause?
Many people wish to visit the frozen dessert at the bottom of our world, also known as Antarctica. However, this may come to an end. People believe that the cause of Antarctica melting is because of tourists. However, there are many arguments against this. The Antarctic is beginning to melt mainly because of the ships that leave many tons of emissions of carbon dioxide behind.
What comes to mind when you think of Antarctica? Far away, penguins, maybe a few scientists, and……ice. Antarctica is a continent located towards the Southern Pole and covered, completely, in ice. The ice has come and gone throughout history as the result of massive changes in climate and now, something is happening to it. The ice is depleting, though not as fast as the Arctic Ocean, and not quite the way you would think. And if we accept that it is depleting, what happens as the climate continues to change? What happens to our coastal cities when the sea levels rise? What happens to weather patterns in the Southern Oceans? Before we can answer those questions, we need to understand what’s going on in Antarctica right now.
Gasoline fueled cars produce a number of pollutants. The most damaging pollutants that come from gasoline fueled cars are particulate matter. Particulate matter is a sequence of organic materials and inorganic substances. It includes ingredients such as lint and minerals. Nitrogen dioxide, produced when fuel is burned at high temperatures, can cause damage to the lungs and cause chest pains. One might ask, “Why are Americans still driving gasoline cars?” knowing the damage that they are subject to cause. I personally maintain that the government should push people to p...
People around the world are constantly moving from place to place. Whether that place is work, a restaurant, or home, people require a means of transportation in order to arrive at a desired destination safely and efficiently. One of the most used means of transportation today are cars. Cars play an important role in the world’s economy by transporting goods and people. Automobiles have come a long way since Ford’s first Model T, and the auto industry plans to further enhance the technology and capabilities of the cars that drive on our roads. New technological advancements like rear-view camera, self parking, and auto braking have greatly improved the overall safety of cars today. However, one of the most talked about ideas are autonomous
I bet you didn't know that the first cars made were all mostly electric. But as time passed gas powered cars became more popular through the years. There were few if any electric cars available as timed moved on. Everyone believed that gas powered vehicles were more convenient than the electric powered ones. I believe that gas powered vehicles are better because gas powered cars have more function ability. The range that electric vehicles have is poor compared to gas vehicles. Electric vehicles don't function very well when the weather is cold. You'll need to charge your car pretty much every night. You are only going to be able to go 80 mph. If you go up a big hill your range goes down. electric vehicles (rather ev's) do pollute but they don't pollute the same way that gas cars pollute.
Many hazardous pollutants escape from the internal combustion of the engine. Conventional gas powered vehicles use irreplaceable fossil fuels to run. When burned, these fossil fuels create numerous toxins like carbon dioxide (Larminie 246). Carbon dioxide is considered the main greenhouse gas that creates the foundation for global warming (hybridcars.com, pollutants). This harmful pollutant may not have a serious effect on people at first, but it does have consequential effects on the environment that in turn put people in danger (Nutramed.com). The major consequence caused by global warming is the rise in average temperature. This results in a domino...
While the outlook is bleak for the Arctic, there is a silver lining for the Antarctica: The ice is melting at a slower rate than previously thought. Although glacier flow has increased since the 1990s, scientists from University of Leeds have found the melting rate to be only around a third of what was previously
Car pollutants cause immediate and long-term effects on the environment. Car exhausts emit a wide range of gases and solid matter, causing global warming, acid rain, and harming the environment and human health. Engine noise and fuel spills also cause pollution. Cars, trucks and other forms of transportation are the single largest contributor to air pollution in the United States, but car owners can reduce their vehicle's effects on the environment. Car pollution is one of the major causes of global warming. Cars and trucks emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which contribute one-fifth of the United States' total global warming pollution. Greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere, which causes worldwide temperatures to rise.
Electric cars help lower emissions because they have completely clean motors. As time progresses, emission standards rise and will become harder to meet for automakers. Electric motors will always have zero emissions and auto makers won't have to spend extra money to make their engines cleaner and more fuel efficient. Originally, when the internal combustion engine was invented, pollution wasn't a problem. After hundreds of years and the many combustion engines created, all the exhaust has built up. Today, pollution is one of the largest problems in our environment. Every year the average miles driven rises for everyone. When this rises, the pollution rises as well. Toni Marzotto, in "The Evolution of Public Policy: and the Environment," explains how air pollution will continue to keep on increasing:
Collectively, cars and trucks account for nearly one-fifth of all US emissions, emitting around 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other global-warming gases for every gallon of gas. About five pounds comes from the extraction, production, and delivery of the fuel, while the great bulk of heat-trapping emissions—more than 19 pounds per gallon—comes right out of a car’s tailpipe.(www.ucsusa.org) Burning fossil fuels is also a really big cause in global warming. Burning coal, gasoline etc. because these thing when we burn them they go up into the atmosphere and cause a hole in the ozone layer.
This is a claim that has no scientific basis. Antarctica has been losing land ice at an accelerating rate and the models used to predict our climate have been very accurate since the early
