College may seem like it’s another four years of sitting and listening to a lecture but it has more to it. In the video “Why Go”, it stated”... an individual who goes to college is more likely to volunteer in their neighborhood.” (Why Go). Which means that you can create a better and healthier environment for the next generation and be liked in your neighborhood. Also from “Why Go”, the video remarked”... the individual will also make $22,000 more per year on average.” (Why Go). Always worried if you made it or not. It is not just the kids uptight either, it is parents too. They stop socializing with other parents of kids who are competing for the same college. Some parents try to increase their kids chance of getting into a prestigious college by taking their resume look better. Families that are rich can afford these things and the poor have no chance. These rich kids can get in easily and everyone else just has to watch. College is just trying to make money and the rest they don't care
Is college worth it? This is a topic that has been heavily debated for years, and years to come. The late nights, stressful debts, and long papers due- not accepted a second late; does that make up for the amazing memories, high paying jobs, and social connections? Absolutely. Many people may assume that attending trade school is less successful than going to community college. There are many misconceptions that an employer might prefer a college graduate over a trade school graduate. In fact, this can be misleading because there are many more advantages of a person going from trade school instead of a community college. These benefits include but are not limited to smaller student to teacher ratios, a huge difference in tuition and time invested in your desired career, and a higher possibility of fulfillment for both students and families. However, there are many people, including myself, that believe that trade schools benefits outweigh college benefits.
After graduation of my high school, I’ve decided not to attend college. I spent over three months preparing for college admissions. Over three months of studying for the SAT and writing essays for colleges. But, all this hard work was blown away in just a week. The week before the May 1st, the decision day, I had made my decision not to attend college. I have decided to return to my country and start working. Of course, there was a strong disagreement from my parents, but I didn’t hesitate. For the past years, I have worked in many different kinds of places and I have faced the true reality. This made me want to attend college and brought me to Concordia College.
After high school, there are many different opportunities that open up for everyone. Some people have the chance to go to a prestigious college right after they are done with their high school career. Others might just want a break from school and possibly take a year off. There are no right or wrong answers to what someone does after they finish high school. It all depends on the person's situation or what they feel is best for them. However, there may be some more benefits to taking a year off than going straight to college.
“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won't come in.” ("Isaac Asimov." Goodreads. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 May 2016.) This quote by Isaac Asimov perfectly states how I personally feel about assumptions. In any event, it is good to have an open mind, especially when it comes to people's personal experiences and struggles. It is better to be a thoughtful person rather than assuming things about people that may not be true. That being said, Assumptions about community college students are unfair and incorrect. Misled people say that community college students are unable to attend a four-year university. As well as a degree from a community college is not as good as a university degree. I
There is no true price that you can pay for what collegeoffers. That is, because a high school graduate can readily and unfortunately expect “higherunemployment rates than college graduates” (Fain 1). And if those high school graduates happento find a job, they can expect college graduates to make approximately “$17,500 more” (TheRising Cost of Not Going to College 1) than college graduates. The statistics for going to collegemight be scary, but the ones for not going to college are terrifying. So, what exactly is so good about college? It might not seem like it, but college isn’t justthe lesser of two evils, really, college can be great for most people. College gives young adultswith the first taste of true and undeniably terrifying freedom. It gives its students greaterresponsibility. But above all else, college is a platform in which one evolves and grows within anintellectual yet social atmosphere. It allows students to make their future brighter and it sets themup for a comfortable and happy life in which they can prosper. According to Jennifer Pfeffer“college graduates report being happier” (1). That in on itself is a great attribute for collegegraduates. Just about everyone is looking and striving for happiness, college gives you a boost toachieve
Preparing for College after graduating from high school is considered to be as one of the most thought by students. Even so, most students nowadays are uncertain whether attending college will be a good advantage for them. Some believe that it is a waste of time and money, but most people consider it as a reason to thrive in life. Unlike High school, College is certainly different because it determines your future and should be taken more earnestly by the students. College education is a worth of cost because it basically provides students with great benefits, which can be a good help in shaping their future goals.
College is thought of as what every parent wants for their child, so they can go off andmake something of themselves. For the most part, this is true. Those who attend college arebetter off than those who do not, on average, earning far more than their undereducatedcounterparts. College is a worthwhile investment and should be pursued by all who have thechance because it helps students further their knowledge, it is a place to find who you are, and itgives them a different perspective of the world.College is worth the cost because if college was available for everybody and collegedegrees were handed out as commonly and at the same rate as high school diplomas then collegewould not be that special. Therefore, college would just be an extension of high school. Ifanyone could get their hands on a degree, how would you be able to get the job you want? It isbetter for college to cost money because if a student really wants to attend college and furthertheir education, they should have already been willing to pay or to find a way to pay for collegeto get the upper hand on the general
One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.
With a college education, one of the benefits college graduates earn is more money. College graduates have a much higher earning potential than individuals with no college education. A college education could actually earn you a million dollars over your lifetime. In the article it states, “On average, college graduates earn 1.5 time that of adults with high-school diplomas” (Andreas Schleicher). This demonstrates that by earning a college degree, you will earn a lot more money than people who stop their education at high school. As a college graduate, you earn far more over your working lifetime than non-college graduates. The more education you get, the more likely it is for you to always have a job. There are numerous other benefits associated with graduating from college. The benefits of going to college her in the U.S. are valuable than other countries. As a college student, the effects of a college degree will likely affect you and future generations. In the article it states, “While a degree is still a good investment in other countries, nowhere are the benefits quite as good as in the U.S” (Andreas Schleicher). This demonstrates that here in the U.S., there are plenty of benefits of having a college degree. With a college degree, you will have a higher lifetime earnings, you will have
Attending college is worth it. Students who get a college education and graduate have many more life changing opportunities than those who don 't; the debates of studying after high school has been ongoing for many years but statistics have proven that majority to all students who go to college achieve more life goals than the average high school graduate. They get more work benefits, life skills, higher paying salaries, etc. There is a downside to everything in life such as debt is to college education. However, the price students pay is so small compared to what the benefits they receive after graduating from college.
First of all, college gives us a variety of careers. You may want to be a Doctor or an Astronomer. Both careers are day and night different, but that is the beauty of a college education you are given the opportunity to explore new waters. High school graduates that don't move on to college are not given this opportunity, they are forced to choose from menial and odd jobs, that you may not even enjoy. In the article “Importance of a College Education” by Mr. Hobsons the author states “High school graduates
A child does not typically think about their life ahead. Although, they may not think about college, it is still there. Life ahead means getting a job to make money for everything else and if one wants a well paying job in the future, then college is the best option. College education is worth it because it makes a person better and more educated, college is not as expensive as some think, and the college pays for itself once there is a job to pay for it.
Also, many kids attend just too party a lot. Attending college can be misleading to some teenagers fresh out of high school, and don’t realize continuing education isn’t the most important factor in their life. College matters because without an education the society, our country would fall apart and go into a deep depression. Jobs would be hard to get because the people who are applying wouldn’t get accepted without a college degree. For example, for some students who put the time and effort in gaining sport scholarships in hopes of playing professional one day?
For many years, higher education has been a helpful tool for those looking to have a professional career, and now, it seems that getting a degree is almost necessary. In our present day it is nearly impossible to get a job without graduating college and that is why a higher education is considered to be the most valuable investment for Americans. College is so valuable because it lowers your risk of unemployment while giving you the opportunity to have your future potential earnings increased. Many Americans don’t go to college because they can’t afford it or they fear that college just isn’t the right fit for them and others don’t’ enroll because they are lazy. These problems could possibly all be erased by making all citizens in America legally required to move on to at least a two year institution at the very minimum upon the graduation of high school. Having community college tuition-free will eliminate any financial excuses against college being required for all US citizens. Alan Bloom believes “Education is the movement of darkness to light”. Bloom is trying to convey that education can help you get through the roughest of times and to help make something of yourself. College is a place for exploration and finding out who you are and what you want to be.
