Argumentative Essay
Throughout most of history humans have used all sorts of domesticated animals in many ways. As of now Police departments and other law enforcements used dogs which are known as Bloodhounds to help investigate a crime scene. People are putting forth an argument that dogs now are unreliable and sometimes get innocent people locked up for crimes they haven’t done and that we shouldn’t use dogs anymore to investigate crimes. Well humans have used dogs for many years for hunting, gathering and saving lives of humans due to their keen sense of smell. We shouldn’t just let the advantage we have with dogs go to waste. Sure, dogs may mess up at a crime scene of murder but, they don’t mess up in finding bombs, narcotics or even humans that are in trouble with no way to call for help. Dogs may have messed up in the past but, maybe we were using them for the wrong type of crime.
As stated before humans have had a long historical relationship with dogs. We have used them in as many ways as

Some investigations led to innocent people being wound up in jail. The man eventually got out and won over 1.7 million dollars. This not only ended in the dog being fired but, the government/police enforcement losing tons of money. As well as in a case with a rape victim a dog wound up getting a man in jail who never even committed the crime and got a rape conviction on his profile. Now dogs have messed up in the past but, quote “They are fallible, just like a person.” Maybe we are just using dogs in a wrong way. We shouldn’t let dogs help in a murder case or a rape case but, for cases such as search and rescue or alarm the police of people with illegal substances. Or if the police are adamant about using dogs in such cases they should be a little lenient on the suspect since dogs are known to make mistakes and not send the suspect to prison
Also, educating parents and grandparents etc, on animal/ children safety could greatly reduce the number of attacks on children. You should never leave a young child unattended with a dog, or any animal for that matter, its just not safe. Children that have been attacked by family dogs that have been around said child its whole life, tend to be the results of the child being left alone with the dog and not properly supervised, not nasty or mean dogs. Any dog could snap and turn on somebody, esp a child who say, doesn’t realize the dog is in pain and jumps on them etc. As long as dogs and childrens interactions are supervised many dangerous situations can be avoided.
Service dogs are a low risk treatment, that can replace dangerous medication and expensive devices. For a purebred service dog is $20,000, however there are non profit organizations that provide service dogs at a much lower cost, but there is usually a long wait list (“Costs”). ASDA (Autism Service Dogs of America) sets a donation goal of $13,500 for every approved family, which is always achieved. Another option is buying the dog from a breeder and paying for the training and accessories. If a puppy is purchased from a dog breeder for around $2,500, in two years time the dog would have costed around $5,200 dollars. The rest of the $ 2,700 comes from vet bills, service gear, training expenses, food, treats, and toys. (“Service”) Getting a dog from a rescue center will cost about the same amount because usually vet bills and training expenses are incrases. However in the long run the owner is most likely to spend more money on a rescue dog, because they often have more issues, physically and mentally which cause them to wear out faster. There is no health insurance that cover service animals. Service dogs however do replace the nasty side effects of some medication, and devices that won't provide companionship. Although the average hearing aid costs $4,000, hearing aides need replaced as the person grows, and need repairs as well, putting the total

Dogs have impacted the lives of 44% of American families and homes. People use dogs for much more than just a family friend. Dogs are used for special needs, assisting police, and hunting and tracking. Dogs should be appreciated and never taught to fight or be neglected. Dog fighting is unethical because man’s best friend shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.
Contrary to that popular belief, dangerous animal behavior is the function of inherently dangerous dog owners, not inherently dangerous dogs. One fact that supports this is that pit bulls are the dogs most often shot during drug raids (TELLINGS v. Toledo). Besides the pit bulls that are owned by drug dealers for status symbols and protection, many pit bulls are owned by people that breed them for fighting. These poor dogs have a very slim chance of living a normal and happy life. This is not the fault of the dog, but the fault of the owners that should not have the dog, or should care for them better.
Dogs are being taken for granted, and people need to realize the importance of why they have dogs as pets. Dogs are more than lazy animals, dumb creatures, or ways of showing off to others. Dogs don’t help with social status, rather they help with companionship, loyalty, trust, and a bodyguard. In my opinion, dogs don’t help determine how poor or wealthy a family is. Maybe people spend lots or little money on a dog, but that just depends on what type of people they are, not what type the dog is. Nothing more, nothing less.
The use of canines in law enforcement is a tool that has been utilized for years around the world. In the 1970's the use of dogs to a foothold in the United States( 2013, dogsforlawenforcement.org). Spectators say that it is very difficult for people to get in and watch a dog fight and it can be hard to figure out where the fights take place because people do not want the fact of their fight getting out to the public. (Gibson 6). Now spectating is not one of the levels of dog fighting. There are three levels of dogfighting and the First level is known as “street Fighting” this is where the fights take place in alleyways, streets, and playgrounds and the people who are typical in the street fighting are the people who are involved in gangs and drugs. The next level a person would be known as a “hobbyist” which are the people with multiple dogs participating in many fights that are arranged and planed for both amusement and money purposes, but a Hobbyist is more likely to focus on the breeding and responsibility of the dogs. Next is the group known as the “professionals” who are ore into the majors of dog fighting and own a very large amount of dogs and will keep good dogs only for the purpose of money usage. If the dog that belongs to a professional and loses in a fight or is unable to breed the owner will kill that dog. Professionals and Hobbyist that have a human aggressive dog will sell that dog to the “street” fighters which causes people to be scared of aggressive dogs that
Most people like dogs more than cats. I like dogs more than cats. More than half a million people in America like dogs as pets more than cats.
There are many statistics that come with animal abuse. Dogs have no mind when they are loose and around others, they get a little too happy and feel like they can do what they please which causes money loss. "This means that if a dog attacks another dog or a person in a dog park, the victim can rightfully sue both the dog's owner and the city for not enforcing the law." Dogs are bound to do anything when they're loose, it is proven people use lots of money on dogs. Just to say if a person lets their dog loose, they'll be losing even more money and so will the city. The city could have used that money for something much better.
In 2013 a news team from Oklahoma reported on a story where a Pit Bull alerted its sleeping owners to a fire that destroyed their home. In the report, it states “A 10-year-old pit bull terrier is being hailed a hero after she saved a Lincoln County family from their burning home” (KOCO). Within six words the breed “Pit Bull” is brought up in a positive manner. The news article goes on to talk about how the dog not only saved its owners, but the other family dogs as well, and how the family considers the dog to be their hero. Another dog in Pennsylvania named Lou also had the chance to save his family from their burning home. In January of 2015 Chris Julian and Kelly Yarbrough were awoken by their rescue dog Lou when their house was on fire. The family told Q13 Fox News of the event and even stated “The fire was coming through the door and the dog saved our lives and if it wasn 't for him, we 'd all be dead right now”. False myths from the media, as well as negative human influences have led to a horrible misunderstanding of a wonderful breed of dog. The American Pit Bull Terrier is loving, sweet, protective animal that needs to be given another chance in society. How can a society truly be free of discrimination of any kind if it is still discriminating dogs that are forced to fight? If the government were to put in more effort to bring the end of dog fighting this stereotype very well could be
Dogs are better than cats because they are easier to train, they are protective, they are easier to adapt, and they are active.
