“I think we’re going to have strong indications of life beyond Earth within a decade, and I think we’re going to have definitive evidence within 20 to 30 years… We know where to look. We know how to look” ~Ellen Stofan, NASA Chief Scientist (Wall). First off, there are many different beliefs about alien life. Science, history, and eyewitnesses can prove alien existence. However, skeptics have many examples to why alien life does not exist. There are many examples of the media’s role in making alien’s existence popular. Finally, there has always been a constant battle between the skeptics and believers of aliens because of its characteristics and comings, and I believe the media has continued to help make this topic more and more popular.
Some may believe in aliens because of stories or stereotypes. According to

There are very few people in America who are unfamiliar with the popular images of aliens and basic abduction stories (Clancy). A poll suggests that in America, 93 percent of the population believes that aliens exist and 27 percent believe that aliens have visited Earth (Clancy). Additionally, the Daily Mail polled 500 children, 8 to 12, and 64 percent of the kids believe in aliens, while only 33 percent believe in God (Woolaston). Almost half of the children polled believe the stereotype that aliens are green (Woolaston). There is shocking amount of people who believe in alien life even if there is not proof. These believers rely on stories they have heard or stereotypes they believe
Ever look up at the sky and just wonder if there is life anywhere else? Have you seen anything in the sky that is almost unexplainable? What if your thoughts really came true? The thought of the existence of aliens seems to have been around since the beginning of time. There is one incident in particular that really hits home when talking about the subject, the UFO incident of Roswell, New Mexico.
Sure we've all seen movies and read books about extraterrestrial beings landing on the Earth and conquering the human race. And millions of us have viewed TV shows like "The X-files" and "Third Rock From the Sun." These forms of popular culture share a common thread -- extraterrestrial life. Yet the underlying question is, does the mass media take extraterrestrialism seriously? Or do they mock it? Or do they simply exaggerate its credibility? In the majority of these cases, the mass media not only takes on the third mode of exaggeration, it shifts focus from more important and serious issues such as extraterrestrial life at the cellular level. The media loves to play with the minds of viewers, making them believe in something which realistically is probably untrue.
On June 24th of 1947, a pilot named Kenneth Arnold made the first and most famous claim that he saw a flying saucer. In that same year, William Brazel noticed piles of debris around thirty miles from Roswell, New Mexico. A combination of these two events sparked a popular culture phenomenon that has changed the world. Extraterrestrials have become a part of the average American’s everyday life. Even as children exposure to the idea of there being a different intelligent life in the universe is something they encounter in movies, television shows and books. In March of 2009, the children’s movie Monsters vs Aliens was released and has grossed over three hundred and eighty-one million dollars so far. As children grow up and become teenagers
For over a thousand years people have reported seeing strange objects flying in the sky. Today the unknown flying objects -UFOs continue to visit us, on a regular basis. A large amount of recorded historical events of this issue have taken place to give the subject of UFOs recognition. Recently, many individuals have claimed to witness or be part of fantastic stories that attract some while are turned away. Videotapes, photographs and pieces of physical evidence do support some of these stories. Even more frightening, small objects called implants have been found in the bodies of some people that have reported strange sightings or encounters with strange objects. Once one begins to put it all together, the history, stories, claims, and evidence that science is to studying, the truth has come clear. We are not alone aliens do exist!
The existence of life – Aliens, beyond our planet has been a controversial topic for several centuries, and is a debatable issue even today in the 21st century. What is our topic you may ask? Aliens, Do, Exist. According to theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking, it would be improbable for life not to exist somewhere other than Earth. This is a bold claim, but there is evidence to support this statement. The evidence we seek is in the many Alien occurrences we have experienced throughout human history.
Even though, there is much debate about the purpose of the aliens, there is more agreement about the types of aliens that are reported. Examples are the ‘tall whites’, the ‘grays’, the ‘humanoids’, and the ‘reptilians’. The ‘tall whites’, aren’t always as tall as some of the people say. They actually assume to grow as they mature. Growing so much that eventually they out grow their bodies and eventually die. The ‘grays’ are assumed to be led by the ‘reptilians’, they are small and gray with big metallic looking eyes. The ‘humanoids’ are almost exactly like us. They behave in a similar matter, they look like a cross breed of a gray and a human. But they are tall, pale skinned, and they have blonde hair and blue eyes. The ‘reptilians’ are sot
Intelligent life outside of Earth is one of the most debated topics in The United States of America. There are plenty of shows on television about it and supposedly there has been thousands of sightings all throughout America. Our government is thought of to have encountered and held extraterrestrials. Area 51 is where everyone theorizes that we hold and run tests on aliens, even though there is little evidence. There are also ancient stories told about “gods” coming down and doing inhuman things. In cave paintings you can find UFOs in the pictures, even back then they somehow knew of these flying objects. Most people do not want to recognize that our universe is so vast it would be more likely that there is intelligent life out there than there is not. It is possible that the general population is afraid to acknowledge Aliens’ existence because they cannot imagine a species being more advanced and smarter than us. Another reason people fail to recognize them is because the media has made these “creatures” very far fetched with
Is there such thing as life outside of Earth? The building blocks of life are carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. Those ingredients condense to form all living things, new stars and even new planets! So, who’s to say those ingredients didn’t form other life on other planets? Think about how vast outer space is. There are millions and millions of other planets, stars and galaxies! It’s not that far out there to think that there might be other life in space, in fact, some people even have stone hard evidence that supports the idea of “aliens”. I personally believe there is such thing as extraterrestrials, and I believe they have visited earth before. As a child, I remember my dad and I would sit around all afternoon watching alien documentaries or shows about people hunting aliens and searching for UFOs. When it comes to aliens people have so many questions; have aliens been to earth before? Are they currently living on earth? Are they controlling us? Does the government know? If so, are they hiding it from the public? There are so many questions you can ask but, in order to answer them, you have to
One of the most controversial arguments of this day, are aliens real or they just a hoax. We all always wonder if really do exist, and to the people who don't believe that they exist I will try my best to change your minds a little that there is living life forms on planets or galaxies. In fact, Mars actually has ice or water scattered around the Martian planet. The famous hidden and heavily guarded place in the U.S is the Nevada Test and Training Range and Groom Lake, aka “Area 51”, has been in suspicion of keeping top secret things from the Roswell UFO Incident that happened in 1947. Well we all know the CIA will snag those things up and hide them, instead of showing the curious world if we are really the only ones that occupy this plant or even this whole universe. With great numbers of stars covering our solar system or universe, life is possible. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know if other planets went through the same stages that our earth is going through in this heavily planet and star populated universe.
There are numerous of different movies, books, and TV shows on how humans think aliens interact, look similar to, and what the media portrays aliens to be like. Occasionally, most will stumble across news articles with a variety of related headings about aliens, UFO’s, or recent known abduction stories. Every person has their own theories and or thoughts on these basic questions: do aliens exist? Could the government be covering up real life “space ships” or encounters? Countless folks have claimed to witness or have fanciful stories that have fascinated countless while several others are turned away. There are Videos, pictures and pieces of physical evidence to support nearly all of these stories. Even more alarming,
Some people believe in aliens. Some people don’t. One of the best-known conspiracy is that area 51 is the base of all things alien. There are many sites on the internet that have people’s stories and conspiracies. This website https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/research/a24152/area-51-history/ has many monthly people going to it and imputing their beliefs.
The thought of government cover-ups have been long discussed. The government has always, in the past, tried to keep any sign of aliens, whether it be pictures from space, to crashes on earth, to a low or nonexistent level. Just recently has the government been harassed to the point where they actually gave us clues to alien existence. It has in some ways been believed that the government has worked in partnership with popular movie directors, to produce alien movies to ease the thought that we may not be alone. Such movies as ôThe Arrivalö and the ever popular ôIndependence Dayö are very good examples of well convincing alien movies. If this is true, they did a good job, because statistics state that 75% of people today believe that there is some kind of intelligent life forms besides ourselves in the universe. That is very convincing compared to the 20% whom believed 25 years ago. ô New opinions are always suspected, and usually opposed, without any other reason but because they are not already common.ö (MacGowan 261)
While we have not yet discovered the presence of life outside of Earth, the existence of aliens continues to prevail in media, especially in movies and literature. Widely depicted as green, slightly disfigured extraterrestrials, aliens are commonly misconceived as human-like beings. Typically, fictional aliens breathe and move exactly as their human counterparts do; in many cases, aliens and humans can even communicate efficiently by speaking the exact same language. Because the similarities are present even on the surface, it is no surprise that aliens and humans are perceived as having the same type of consciousness. For instance, the aliens we see depicted in the media are projected just as a human would be—they have a desire to protect
Do aliens exist? For eons, mankind has pondered over this peculiar question and a revealing truth has yet to be answered. However, one thing is known for sure, the discovery of intelligent alien life outside of Earth would provide support to prove and/or disprove fundamental beliefs that have been held for centuries. In any case, the discovery would serve as a cornerstone for humanity to make the quantum leap in understanding the purpose of our existence. Based on numerous examples, it is impossible to deny the existence of extraterrestrial life outside of Earth. Reportings of sightings, ancient civilizations beliefs, and scientific proof from scientists and astronomers are all key factors that contribute to this statement.
One of the most common unanswered questions scientists find themselves asking is "Is there life on other planets?" Since the first famously documented UFO sighting in 1947, the idea of extra-terrestrial life has been debated almost non-stop. The subject has inspired many TV programs, such as The X-Files, and films (Mars Attacks, Independence Day, and the Men in Black films to name but a few). Scientists have come up with many new ideas and ways of trying to either prove or disprove the existence of life elsewhere.
