ALL ABOUT GUNS
A firearm is defined as a weapon, particularly a pistol or rifle which is capable of firing a projectile and using an explosive charge as a propellant. A gun or otherwise known as a pistol is a complex arrangement of metal parts that is able to discharge a piece of lead at a very high speed, high enough to penetrate flesh and thin slabs of wool. So far it serves as humankind’s most effective weapon and permanent substitute for spears, swords, staffs, daggers, machetes etc. Guns are mostly used for murder, self defence, recreational shooting, killing hostiles, and most importantly it is the standard weapon issued for armies, militias, etc. Owning a firearm is a responsibility everyone should take seriously, and it is mandatory
Left, right, Liberal, Conservative, Democratic, Republican. There are a lot of synonyms for the sides of our nation divided. Divided on many things: religion, political views, morals, etc.. For a nation that prides ourselves on extraordinary security and unity, it is quite ironic that so many issues can cause such distress and uproar within communities. One such issue is gun control. As a white male in a middle-lower class family that has never owned a gun, I may be somewhat biased. Objectively as I can, I am going to report the facts and more importantly, try to find the core issues at play.
Society’s Need for the Registration of Handguns Guns are an instrument that even the most careful of people could do harm with. Gun owners should attend firearm safety classes so they will be educated on proper handling and storage of the gun. While this should only be voluntary, something should be done to ensure that guns are only sold to people who have a safe background and are of age. Congress should mandate the registration of handguns in order to keep criminals from possessing guns, to cut back on violence in the home, and to avoid accidental or intentional violence among children. The Federal Government today is putting forth much effort in order to control the purchase and registration of handguns.
Most states require you to take a firearm safety class in order to complete your gun license and show that you are worthy of owning and operating a gun. Then you can then purchase a gun and register it with the state, in order to prevent the illegal sale of your gun (smartgunlaws.org). For gun control activists that claim guns are not beneficial to the safety of the American people, I present you with a quote from President Obama saying “I believe in the Second Amendment” (CNBC, Rosenfeld). The president makes the decisions about what is best for the people of his country. Although simple, the words of President Obama can tell us a lot.
Has it seemed as if Americans have always had an obsession with owning guns? The laws grant a United States citizen the right to bear arms. Citizens have always taken advantage. One might wonder why someone would be so protective over something so dangerous. I do believe that gun control is a need for today's society, and for protection. Gun control plays a major part in crime and violence. The call for stricter gun control policies is a necessity in our society today. Gun control has a big impact on society because of: gun violence, gun laws, and people’s protection.
In current day society, it is frequently promoted as self-defense and our “duty” as Americans to own a gun of some sort. The second amendment to the constitution declares that “We the People” are allowed to bear arms because we live in a free State. Although these statements are true, at what cost? The question, “at what cost,” arises due to the recent push for an extension and enforcement of the second amendment. The people of the States have been pushing for desired concealed carry at public areas, such as schools. Statements and questions of concern have been on the as to whether or not this idea is “smart”. Contrary of it allowing some people to feel safe, the idea should be imposed. Guns are weapons and they have the history behind them
Regulation of guns is a necessary action that needs to be taken in order to
The right to own a gun has evolved over the years. Owning a gun is not just about possessing it, it’s about knowing you can protect yourself. Every person has the right to protect themselves and feel safe, t...
I want to prevent would-be killers from having access to weapons of war. I want to stop them from teaching themselves to kill through video games. I want mental-health services to be more easily obtained. And I want to deny murderers the notoriety they seek. Our leaders must attack the entire problem--and if they do, I believe my fellow gun owners will have their back.(P. 10)
These purposes may include self-defense, hunting, and target shooting. Self-defense is the main use for guns. Pistols are usually carried concealed, with the appropriate license. A concealed carried pistol can make one feel safer when walking around a dangerous area of town. In other cases, a shotgun or rifle will be purchased to keep in one’s home to protect against burglars and thieves. In other use, most people buy firearms for hunting purposes. Hunting has been a tradition for many years. Hunting keeps the amount of wild game from being overpopulated. Furthermore, target shooting is a way to relieve stress and have some fun. Target shooting is a safe, controlled way to use a firearm. Whether it is rifles or shotguns, target shooting is good way to sharpen one’s shooting
Gun violence in America is a public health crisis, which needs to be recognized and changed by legislatures, and the voting American. As conscious Americans, we need to vote for changes to gun laws that would improve background checks nation-wide, make firearm registration mandatory, restrict the sale of assault weapons and weapon modifications that give the shooter military-grade fire power, and invest in gun-safe technology and safe firearms storage designs. This type of technology will help prevent criminally oriented people from accessing guns, and will help prevent the accidental deaths of many children by guns. This essay will explain the reforms needed to help ensure Americans can still exercise their 2nd amendment right of owning firearms, and preventing the unnecessary deaths of many Americans at the same time.
Guns are powerful weapons. They have the ability to kill, destroy, and harm whomever or whatever the bullet comes in contact with. Experts estimate that about one-third of all American households contain firearms, and that the total number of guns in circulation is at least 240 million. Approximately one-third of these are handguns,
Is the right to bare arms worth the amount of deaths and injuries in the United States? Gun Control has been a heavily debated and controversial topic throughout the United States. In 2013, 30,000 people died of gunshot wounds in America. After the prohibition of the “Gun Control Act of 1968,” there was a massive increase in homicide and suicide. Because there are so many shootings and unnecessary death today everywhere in the United States because of guns, the nation should adopt a universal gun control system enforcing stricter gun control laws, including background checks and permits.
The debate over gun control in America has constantly brought up over the years due to gunmen killing large amounts of civilizations in shootings. From Columbine to Sandy Hook or the shootings of the two reporters in West Virginia, these public shootings are occurring everywhere. Lawmakers and civilians alike are pushing for increased gun control in hopes of preventing the same tragedies. Anybody that has been affected by the shootings have been pushing Congress and state governments to force new sanctions on government. With the past three years, Congress has shot down all the laws despite the large amounts of public support. Adding more gun control isn’t going to stop the mass shootings from happening.
... middle of paper ... ... Responsible citizens should have a right to carry a gun in order to protect themselves from those who obtain it illegally. All in all, responsible adults should have the right to carry a concealed handgun.
The discussion about gun control is far-gone, and America should enact laws that will require gun owners to register their firearms. A background check on every citizen bearing a gun is necessary so that guns do not land in the arms of felons and the mentally ill. Thinking that people can use guns to fight for their liberty is a far gone idea that needs a second thought. However, gun control is not the only solution because it is necessary to educate the population on the risks of keeping guns and asking them to remit the guns at their own will.
