Sitting on the bathroom floor, my mother, sixteen year old Andrea Butler, was curled up in a ball crying more than ever before. Several minutes passed before she stood up and looked into the mirror. She tried to compose herself by brushing through her dark brown hair, but as she looked back down at the small, plastic stick with two pink lines on it, her chocolate colored eyes immediately fill with tears once again. “What am I supposed to do?” My mother thought over and over in her head. She was among the top of her class. She had a plan. She wanted to graduate school and to attend college. Everyone expected the best from her; no one thought she could make a mistake that would cost her so much. “If I wouldn’t have gotten pregnant with you when …show more content…
My school found out about the handful of girls news through various options, most of the time it was heard through “the great vine” of gossip or sometimes the girls made an announcement on Facebook to clear the air for everyone. Just like my teenage mother, people judged and gossiped about these girls without truly knowing who they were. When I heard about the pregnancies of some of my fellow classmates I never judged them. At such a hard time in their life, they needed more people to understand. They needed more people to give them sympathy and to let them know that everything would be alright. Nowadays, two or three years later, I find myself looking there those same girl’s pictures. I believe it is a way of checking in on them to see how they are doing. I like to view the baby pictures and see how they are making it through the journey of motherhood. For myself, my mother’s mistake always taught me that unprotected sex was a very reckless decision. As I entered high school, my mother gave me many speeches on the topic. Andrea had turned into a very wise woman; she at one point told me that “If you can’t see your boyfriend being the father of your baby, then you shouldn’t have sex with
There is a woman, she will always in the softest place in your heart, you would like to spend all your life to love her; there is a love, it is Real and selfless and it will never stop, you do not need to return anything...... This man, called "mother ", this love, called" Motherhood "! “Mothers” by Anna Quindlen. I could not stop reading this essay again and again, because this essay tells exactly what I want to say when I am young. My parents leave me alone when I am 6 years old. They have to work outside of the country, during that time, transport and communication is not as convenient as now. So I can only see them once in three years. Growing up with “knowing that I have a mother and she is never around me whenever I need her”
“I stood, unmoving, stunned… Tears filled my eyes. I want my mother, I thought. My mother is dead. I thought this every hour of every day for a very long time: I want my mother. My mother is dead.” In Cheryl Strayed memoir “Wild”, the death of her mother demolished her mental stability and consumed her each moment of her life. Not knowing how to handle her grief, Cheryl ended up doing things in her life that many people would consider regretful. She ended up losing her marriage, family, friends, became addicted to drugs, and lost her own state of being. Although Cheryl is sullen, her mistakes and setbacks was her destiny to create a better life.
...ions over her own body; whether it is parenthood, adoption, contraception, or yes, abortion. After all, it is entirely plausible for people to be personally pro-life but politically pro-choice – this suggests that they respect each individuals’ rights over his or her own body and recognize that each woman should be allowed to have options. Regardless of whether or not she chooses to have the child, it is the fact that she has a choice that is crucial, and it is imperative that each woman have the freedom of individual autonomy. In order for this to occur, abortion must continue to be legal. Ultimately, being pro-choice is not necessarily advocating the use of abortion – it is about ensuring that abortion is legal so that women may have the option to exercise their right to individual autonomy and make the decisions that best reflects their stance in life.
Abortion has been the topic of controversy for many decades. Many people believe that when a woman terminates a pregnancy, she is committing murder and others argue that a woman has the right to choose life or abortion. There are different procedures to choose when having an abortion, depending on the gestational age and the woman 's health a pill form abortion may be used up to 9 weeks gestation (mifepristone and misoprostol), but for women who are over 12-weeks gestation (late-term abortion), surgical abortion is used (Berer 25). In 1973, the supreme court ruled that abortion was to be legalized, Roe vs. Wade. Women were given the legal right to choose to terminate their pregnancies and make the correct arrangements for their decisions. Different states have different restrictions to accessing abortion procedures, making the woman 's choice to terminate pregnancy less accessible. Restricting a woman 's access to appropriate abortion clinics limits her right to choose.
...ld of someone who has hurt her in this type of way. Despite of how I may feel personally emergency contraception can help in situations that are uncontrollable. Overall I’ve learned that everything is life has pros and cons, and although some may look at emergency contraception as nothing but negative, there is some individuals out there that see it as completely positive. I am not particularly interested in reading about emergency contraception since I am a male, and don’t take any kind of control. However I did find this information very important to me being that I have daughters, who will grow into young ladies. If I am informed on these specific topics, then I can make sure that they are aware when it comes to these specific circumstances. I’m sure I will continue better educate myself on contraception as whole, so that I can educate my children when its time.
The birth of a child is usually a wonderful and priceless occasion. However, on June 5, 2015, an eleven-year-old girl gave birth to a newborn girl. Approximately a year before she gave birth, her 40-year-old father repeatedly sexually assaulted her. In this case, the unprepared eleven-year-old child decided to have the baby. This is a prime example that illustrates that the right to abortion should always be vested in the woman. Abortion, which has been debated for centuries and will continue to be fought upon for centuries to come, is a hot issue among social, political, and religious entities. This research paper will inform the reader about abortion using scholarly journals to define abortion, specifically when a fetus becomes a human being,
The abortion issue is argued from two different views, however, from a moral perspective, it is wrong to terminate a human life. For generations, society has tried to uncover an answer to whether the human life begins at conception or when an infant takes its first breath. The human life is a fascinating topic that fills a person with questions and hypothesizes. Science has mostly proven and answered the vast majority of questions about the human body. Although, there is one question no one can seem to answer. When does the human life begin? If an answer were to arise, would it really matter in the abortion debate? Even if it were proven, abortion would still be wrong and society would need to end the terminating of fetuses.
Overtime there has been a debate over whether or not the act of aborting a baby should be a legal option. This controversial issue continues to divide America. Many individuals that are pro-choice believe that choosing to have an abortion is a woman’s right that should not be judged by governmental or religious authorities. Many individuals that are pro-life believe that abortion is the immoral killing of an innocent human being. According to opponents, it is unfair to allow abortions when couples who cannot conceive are willing to adopt a child. There are many pro and con arguments over whether abortions should be legal.
Abortion is unlike any other subject debated today; millions of women have aborted a child, and the loss, pain, and emotional need to justify what was done, both on the part of the mother and on the part of her loved ones. Abortion is a gut-wrenching debate that has been going on for centuries, and does not plan to cool off anytime soon. The Supreme Court case in 1973, Roe vs. Wade, placed abortion on the map for the United States. The result of the Roe vs. Wade case legalized abortion to protect women’s health, however the good intentions of the ruling opened the doors for people to take advantage of the case outcome. Approximately 1.06 million abortions took place in the United States in 2011, which goes to show that women maybe abusing the privilege of the rules set in place to protect their health and practicing abortion as a form of contraception. Abortion is not only a dangerous procedure for women to endure, however it is also unethical to abort a child. Abortion is immoral because life begins at conception, people need to live with the consequences and not take the easy way out, and there are other available options.
When we are born into this world, we as children do not understand what is right from wrong. We are not capable of setting our own personal beliefs because we are not educated. Therefore, we follow in our parent’s footsteps on their own beliefs. To us as young children, we believe our parents know what’s best. Parents who are pro-life believe abortion is wrong no matter what a woman’s situation may be such as, their lifestyle, violence, and health complications.
Many women describe it as a privilege and miracle, while others consider the act itself of conceiving and carrying another human being as an inexplicable feeling. Those women that enjoy the opportunity of being a mother cherish every moment and appreciate it as a wonderful gift. Although this stands as a beautiful thing, there exists women choosing to abort. Women of all ages may face the decision of whether or not to terminate the life that they carry in their womb through the abortion process. Nevertheless, late term abortion results in terrifying consequences. The procedure causes health complications for the mother, inflicts pain on a living fetus, and kills the unborn baby.
Abortion Taking out the trash, or taking a human life? That is what most the argument is with abortion, some believe that abortion is okay because the fetus is not yet a person, and that the fetus will be nothing but trouble. On the other side people believe that even all the way down to the zygote (when sperm meets the egg and earliest stage of pregnancy) there is a human growing in you. A growing boy or girl, with their own little fingers, and toes, their own cute as can be toothless smile, and their functioning organs. To them one day that zygote will turn into someone great, a person just like you and I that needs love just as you and I, a person that deserves to not get taken from our world before it even has a chance to take its first breath.
Abortion. “An abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus” (medicinenet.com). We hear that abortion should be a women’s choice, or that it should be illegal. My thought on the entire situation is that it shouldn’t be illegal but it also shouldn’t be legal. The term “Abortion” means to literally kill the fetus or embryo that is inside of you at that very moment. According to the “Planned Parenthood” website, there are two ways to get rid of said fetus. The first way is the “Pill”, this pill comes in two separate parts the first part is a pill that detaches the embryo from the wall of the uterus and the second one is the one that actually kills the embryo or fetus. Basically
Abortion has been one of the most talked about topics in society just about anywhere from television, magazines, whether or not it should be the right or wrong thing to do. Abortion is a very sensitive issue to discuss, because of its nature. Many people have said that abortion is a very bad thing to do and it should not even be choice whether or not to abort a living fetus. People think that abortion is committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. However, others feel that a woman should have a voice and have the right to choose to keep the child or not and that it is not murder until the baby is born. Majority of individuals who believe that abortion is bad say that the fetus is human who is partly being formed and to have an abortion is considered to be murder. For the people who think an abortion is ok, say that it’s not considered murder unless the child is born. I believe that abortion should be seen in which the stage the fetus is in. if the fetus is in an early stage of pregnancy it is not considered murder, but if the fetus has already began to develop into a larger fetus then it is indeed considered to be murder. There are times when abortion can be accepted, if the mother is having complications due to pregnancy. For example if the mother is enduring complications in her pregnancy that can harm her, because of the child in that case it is ok to perform an abortion to help save the mother’s life. It is also very important to understand this type of situation. The mother has the right to have an abortion and it is her decision because a mother knows best about her health conditions.
As time goes on, teen pregnancy is becoming more and more common throughout the world. So many people frown upon this whole idea. Such people act as if the teenage parents’ world is going to come to an end. Although these kids’ life is going to be making a big turn, there are many of them who are mature enough to take on the responsibilities of a baby.
