Making friends and hoping my peers and teachers would understand what I wanted to say was exhausting, and I resorted to body language many times throughout. I wasn’t prepared; I had no idea what I might go through or what would happen. Same as my parents, they didn’t know what American customs were like or what would happen when I was attending school.
