Most hated man in America, Martin Shkreli. Thirty three year old man received this title after a 5,000 percent increase price of Daraprim from 13.50 dollars a pill to 750 dollars. Daraprium is an antiparasitic to prevent infection such as AIDS, malaria, etc. After being streamed in the media, people started posting negative comments about Martin Shkreli. People questioned his experience in drug or disease research. According to Lee, Martin Shkreli had no real experience with disease research all he was good at was reading and memorizing medical journals and textbooks. Not having knowledge of the disease, it demonstrates that he does not care about his customers. Successful entrepreneurs like Martin Shkreli, money is what is considered important …show more content…
That was not enough in another interview he said that he would have had raised the price higher than 750 dollars, but he did not. Not only did the public react negatively, but former candidate Bernie Sanders tweeted, “A life-saving drug does no good if the people who need it cannot afford that drug.” Although Martin Shkreli is a Donald Trump supporter, he donated 2,700 dollars which Berine Sanders did not accept. The only reason why he donated was because of the proposed that Bernie Sanders make about the import of prescription drugs from Canada would be cheaper. However, ones the only was rejected Martin Shkreli tweeted “If @BernieSanders was a parasite what would he be? TAXOPLASMOSIS!” with a picture of a dog. People then started to react back by tweeting things like “Bernie is hardly a parasite. He is a person who cares about people. Unlike yourself (David Hunt).” There were other tweets cussing him out saying things like the dog hat he put in the Bernie Sanders tweet looks nicer than him. Moreover, Martin Shkreli is not sorry for what he has said in his twitter. We know this because he posted a video of Kanye West in the Ellen Show, saying how he did not care of what he had put on twitter and that there is no reason for him to think about what he posted. Above the link to the video Martin Shkreli wrote “ this is me (Kanye).” People like Martin Shkreli do not care how they treat people all they care about is money and
Bernie Sanders Vermont Senator wrote in resentment: “Americans should not have to live in fear that they will die or go bankrupt because they cannot afford to take the life-saving medication they need.” CBS notes Hillary Clintons campaign on the gauging of life saving medications as she states: "Drug companies should not be allowed to reap excessive profits or spend unreasonable amounts on marketing if they want to receive support that is designed to encourage life- saving and health-improving treatments.” American"s are outraged, ideally majority of people who do
Formally, an immigrant can be defined as “a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country.” But in some cases, there has been people like Cesar Chavez who have made a difference in history as an immigrant. Unfortunately, there are those who are not as lucky as Cesar Chavez and end up getting deported just like what happened in Operation Wetback in 1942. Now, they have made a way for immigrants to become U.S. citizens by taking the citizenship test. However, Donald Trump is one of the many people attempting to keep immigrants as far away from the U.S. Border laws are also another one of the many reasons why not many immigrants get the chance to enter this country because in many ways the laws that surround the border are in some ways unfair and not really the best. Immigration still remains a problem in our country
Many businesses that achieve great success become greedy and want more. Pharmaceutical companies, such as Turing, have been overpricing life-saving drugs since they’ve been discovered. Martin Shkreli, the CEO of the company that raised the price of the H.I.V medicine, was arrested because of wrongdoings involving his former hedge fund and a pharmaceutical company he previously headed. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit security fraud, wire fraud, and using his previous company to cover personal debts. U.S. Attorney Robert Capers says, “As alleged in the indictment, Shkreli essentially ran his companies like a Ponzi scheme, where he used each subsequent company to pay off the defrauded investors in the prior company” (Shkreli).
Holden tries to preserve his own innocence, and the innocence of others by not letting go of childhood memories and through his desire to suspend time. Holden views the adult world as corrupt and full of phonies. He admires childhood because of how it is free of corruption, and untouched by the adult world. IN order to preserve his own innocence Holden often attaches himself to childhood memories. The Museum of NAtural History is one of Holden’s favourite places . He mentions that his grade one teacher Miss. Aigletinger used to take his class there every saturday. While writing about the museum he says, “The best thing, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was” (121). This shows how Holden wants to preserve his innocence because he expresses how he likes how everything stayed the

In the business of drug production over the years, there have been astronomical gains in the technology of pharmaceutical drugs. More and more drugs are being made for diseases and viruses each day, and there are many more drugs still undergoing research and testing. These "miracle" drugs are expensive, however, and many Americans cannot afford these prices.
In recent years, the number of Americans who are uninsured has reached over 45 million citizens, with millions more who only have the very basic of insurance, effectively under insured. With the growing budget cuts to medicaid and the decreasing amount of employers cutting back on their health insurance options, more and more americans are put into positions with poor health care or no access to it at all. At the heart of the issue stems two roots, one concerning the morality of universal health care and the other concerning the economic effects. Many believe that health care reform at a national level is impossible or impractical, and so for too long now our citizens have stood by as our flawed health-care system has transformed into an unfixable mess. The good that universal healthcare would bring to our nation far outweighs the bad, however, so, sooner rather than later, it is important for us to strive towards a society where all people have access to healthcare.
Nationalism has been within society since the dawn of time, with all nations doing what they can in order to prevent their nation from undergoing tyranny. While nationalism generally pertains to the origin of birth, it does not always apply. Numerous immigrants who seek new opportunities within other countries will soon express a form of nationalistic pride much stronger than those naturally born there. Pride for nationalism can also be taken as a form of protest in that not every aspect of every country we live in is perfect. Nationalistic beliefs are commonly thought to be the positive aspects of your country. Citizens who challenge and fight for a change within the landscape for the country are often considered unfaithful to their nation. Nationalism should be instead considered as a way to challenge for the betterment of the country through forms of protest, peaceful or otherwise.
Less than a quarter of uninsured Americans believe the Affordable Care Act is a good idea. According to experts, more than 87 million Americans could lose their current health care plan under the Affordable Care Act. This seems to provide enough evidence that the Affordable Care Act is doing the exact opposite of what Democrats promised it would do. On the other hand, this law includes the largest health care tax cut in history for middle class families, helping to make insurance much more affordable for millions of families. The Affordable Care Act has been widely discussed and debated, but remains widely misunderstood.
One of the most famous and successful company in America is Walmart. Walmart is a retail corporation that sells almost all your everyday needs in life for a ridiculously cheap price with their mission stating “We save people money so they can live better”. As Walmart is such a huge franchise it is inevitable that there will be criticism towards it. Most people who are living near a Walmart are a stakeholder as they are probably shopping at Walmart such as my family and me. Also Walmart currently employees more than 2 million people worldwide who are all stakeholders.
In recent years one major corporate crime that has captured headline news has been the Martin Shkreli/Turing Pharmaceuticals scandal. Martin Shkreli was CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals a company that acquired U.S. marketing rights for a drug called Daraprim, a popular drug for AIDS patients. Shkreli amplified the pricing on the drug that has been on the market for decades from $13 to $750 per pill, which is more than a 5,000% increase. Although, these actions made Martin Shkreli infamous amongst Americans, his decision to raise the price of the drugs were perfectly legal. Instead, Shkreli found himself in trouble with regards to the 2 hedge fund companies that he ran, MSMB Capital and MSMB Healthcare. In 2011 while running MSMB Capital Management,
Dietary supplements can be a good thing to use but they aren't always what they say they are. They are used by over half of all Americans and those people normally take a multivitamin or protein supplements after their workouts. In fact, whey protein is the most supplied dietary supplements among all Americans. People would also say that supplements are helpful when they become older in age, but then those people who believe supplements do not work at all. What they don't know is that if individuals take too much or too many supplements, it could hurt them and not benefit these people.
There are many types of people in the world. Some of them are negative and some are positive. Negative people seem to have an endless impact on the people they influence. Negative people plant their venom in the lives of families, friends, communities, countries, and sometimes, even the world, which can make healing difficult and almost impossible because, in many cases, negativity breeds more negativity. However, all people are not negative people, and many people take time to build up others who are less fortunate than they are but who deserve the same opportunities they have. Nelson Mandela is one of these positive people. Mandela contributed to ending
