Since processed foods have been around for sometime now in our local market stores we might have to consider a change of what we are consuming as “food”. In Micheal Pollan “Eat Food: Food Defined” he gives many examples of what is “food”. Edward Group DC, 2011). Some strategies that I think could help improve adolescence’s daily exercise schedule is to obviously get out and exercise. You can change up your routine every day. Monday ride your bike, Tuesday jog around your neighborhood, Wednesday do yoga inside or outside if the weather is nice, Thursday three sets of ten jumping jacks, sit-ups, pushups, squats, and wall sits, Friday go on a hike, Saturday play basketball or jump on a trampoline, and Sunday run one mile. Join a gym if you feel comfortable. Lifting weights can also improve your strength. Another strategy would be to plan your meals. It is so easy to just decide you do not want to make anything for dinner so you take the family out to eat. That is not a smart idea. This is also where having family support with exercising and eating healthy makes things easier. Some teenagers may not be able to drive yet so they rely on their parents. Despite the worldwide success and popularity, it did gain negative views after weight problems began to rise. The food served from the fast food industry was never considered healthy and soon became the target for the blame on health problems, specifically obesity. Although fast
My sister is 14 and weighs more than I do. She is on the Varsity soccer team at her high school and gets plenty of exercise, but still struggles with her weight. She doesn’t understand why my clothes don’t fit her quite the same way, or why she looks different in the crop-top shirts that all of her “bean pole” friends wear during the summer. She went through puberty much before all of her friends did and immediately started gaining weight in 8th grade. She eats whatever she wants, whenever she wants and doesn’t consider the amount of calories she consumes in a day. My parents struggle with teaching her what is the right portion for a meal and showing her what is healthier for her to eat. Like most 14 year olds, she wants to eat pizza and sweets
