Some of us might remember how beautiful it was this day, how blue and clear the sky was. September 11, 2001 is not just a regular day anymore it marks the day terrorists attacked, not only New York but also America. Much like Pearl Harbor this is the day we were taken off guard and the day we struck back and went to war. With everything stripped away from us and no sense of what was going on, a country that was just fine on September 10, 2011 was now broken, on such a beautiful day such terror occurred. According to The Best American Magazine Writing in the article “Experts from the Encyclopedia of 9/11” there is a quote that reads, “Many of us remember going to work that week, searching for an appropriate journalistic response to a world that was changing in ways we couldn’t yet see.”(page 107) When our country was expecting failure and loss of control, we pulled together as a nation and started picking up the pieces from this tragedy that tore us apart this day. After reading this article I asked myself, how could anyone do such a horrible thing? Why would anyone want to give the...
There are a bunch of conspiracies in this world and there's a few on the tragedy that happened on September 11, 2001. One of the theories is that inside traders knew about the attacks before they happened. As said in an article, “in the days before 9/11 there was a huge increase in the number of put options purchased on their airlines, compared to the normal average daily volume.”(Davis) Before I explain what that means the article also mentioned, “ this huge increase in the volume of put options suggests that the people buying these put options knew in advance that 9/11 was about to happen.” (Davis) What the quotes are saying, is that a few days before 9/11, out of nowhere, there was an huge increase in the airlines, that were hijacked, stock markets. The conspiracy theory is that the government was aware of the attacks the entire time but because they were making profit, this did nothing about it.
The day was September 11th, 2001, a moment in history that will never be forgotten by any American living at the time. It was in the early morning hours on this day that our nation experienced the single most devastating terrorist attack ever carried out on American soil. Images of planes crashing into the World Trade Center, news coverage of buildings on fire, and images of building rubble will forever be imprinted into the history of this great nation. However, it was on one of the darkest days for America that one of the most impassioned speeches ever given by a United States president was spoken. President George W. Bush’s speech addressing the nation after the “9/11” attacks was infused with pathos through his imagery of destruction and
On September 11, 2001, America was forever changed. On this day, America faced the biggest terrorist attack that had ever been carried out; thousands of people lost their lives that day. Throughout the sadness and mourning of this terrible event, George Bush addressed the nation with one of the most memorable speeches. When President Bush addressed the nation, he stated that America is strong and they could try to bring us down, but we will not be broken. This speech gave hope to many Americans and helped them remember to stay strong. This day will be forever remembered for all the souls that lost their lives and the brave people who threatened their own life to save others.
The attacks that occurred on 9/11 took place on September 11th, 2001. In this devastating event, four different attacks had taken place. Each of the attacks were carried out by terrorists. The group responsible for the attack was Al-Qaeda, a militant Islamist organization that is known to be global in present day. The group itself has a network consisting of a Sunni Muslim movement that aims to make global Jihad happen. Furthermore, a stateless, multinational army that is ready to move at any given time. This terrorist group focuses on attacking non-Sunni Muslims, those who are not Muslim, and individuals who the group deems to be kafir. Ever since the late 1980s, Al-Qaeda has been wreaking havoc all around the world. The leader of the group once being Osama bin Laden. Three planes were bound for New York City while another plane headed towards Washington, D.C. which was supposed to take out the U.S. Capitol. Two of the airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center. One plane hitting the North Tower and the other hitting the South Tower. The third plane had crashed into the Pentagon taking out the western side of the building. The last and final plane was focused solely on taking out the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. but failed due to passengers of the plane coming hijacking it from the hijackers. The passengers attempted to take out the hijackers but sadly failed, crashing it into a field in Pennsylvania. Throughout the content of this paper, we will be focusing on the role of media when it comes to 9/11; more specifically: how the media's coverage of 9/11 manipulated our feelings towards 9/11, how it affected Islamophobia in America, and the lasting effects of 9/11.
One of the most devastating terrorist attacks in United States history, 9/11, has taken the
September 11, 2001 is known as the worst terrorist attack in United States history. On a clear Tuesday morning, there were four planes that were hijacked and flown into multiple buildings by a terrorist group named al Qaeda. This group, led by Osama bin Laden, killed nearly 3,000 people. Out of those 3,000 people more than 400 police and 343 firefighters were killed along with 10,000 people who were treated for severe injuries. Many lives were taken, and to this day, people still suffer from the attack. September 11th is the most influential event of the early twenty-first century because it made an increase in patriotism, it caused a rise in security throughout the nation, and it had a tremendous effect of thousands of lives.
September 11 is not just about mourning, it's about the community giving back hope. It is about police forces and firefighters in N.Y , the servicemen and females in the Pentagon, including the many passengers in the flights. September 11 was a day of disgrace, but it was also a day of bravery, and of integrity.
There were numerous events and threats leading up to the terrorists attacks on the World Trade Center which left chaos amongst the streets of downtown New York City and would leave America and its families devastated and prone to change after this infamous date in our nation’s history. What happened on September 11th, 2001 was without a doubt both horrific and ill natured. Multiple terrorists hijacked several US airliners that would later be flown into the North and South towers, the Pentagon, and also an unintended area in Pennsylvania. It can be said that the United States of America was unprepared and vulnerable for these occurrences.
On September 11, 2001 terrorists crashed two American airline airplanes into Twin Towers, killing thousands of people. It was the worst terrorist attack in American history and it showed us that we are not protected by Atlantic and Pacific. It showed us that we could be attacked by anyone at anytime. It showed us that if we will be attacked again that we can only depend on each other and not on other nations to help us. The 9/11 changed people forever, some lost family members or friends, others lost their jobs even so called “American Dream.”
2,753 people died in the World Trade Center, 403 of which were NYFD, NYPD, and Port Authority personnel. This number could have been lower if the fire department and police department had worked together appropriately (Tracy, Thomas. “FDNY to Announce 32 More 9/11 Linked Deaths .” NY Daily News, NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, 7 Sept. 2017, www.nydailynews.com/new-york/fdny-announce-32-9-11-linked-deaths-anniversary-nears-article-1.3476104.) The police and fire departments were against each other since at least 1993, this led to them being unprepared during the event of 9/11 because of the lack of coordination. The 9/11 attacks were terrorist-caused, planes were hijacked and flown into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and a random field in Pennsylvania.
Fourteen years ago, everyone would remember this day, September 11. After ten years, Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, and James Clapper wrote an opinion essay, We’re Safer Post -9/11, and published it on a Website USA Today on September 8, 2011. They want to convince readers to believe the USA is much safer than ever.
9/11 was one of the darkest days in America, but some say the government could have been part of these attacks. For many years people have debated about the 9/11 cover up. This theory cannot explain why the government would do this. Once people understand why the 9/11 cover up is fake, they will begin to see the answer to their problem, could the government have done this? This conspiracy theory is wrong because, terrorists admitted to the attacks, so many people died, and there's no evidence against the government.
Prior to September 11th, 2001, airport security was a breeze. You gathered your things you wanted to bring on your trip/vacation/whatever it may be, and that was it. You boarded the plane and you were on your way to your destination. All that was required of you was to show proper identification. Unfortunately, nobody thought to intensify this process until these horrific events occurred. Four passenger planes were taken over by a total of 19 hijackers, all of whom brought sharp objects on the plane in order to take control. This proved to be relatively simple due to the pilots not being permitted to carry a firearm at this time. On this tragic day, 2,977 civilians lost their lives. To ensure something remotely similar to this never happens

Two of the planes were flown into the two twin towers of the World Trade Center, the third plane had hit the pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C., the fourth plane had crashed into a field in pennsylvania, because it had been taken over by the passengers on the plane.
