Abortion is badly affecting our society today. Many people feel it is immoral to kill an unborn baby for no reason. Conversely, others believe that it is the woman’s legal right to choose abortion especially in the reason of rape or health issues threatening the life of the mother. Abortion is a needed medical procedure that has been proven over time to be effective to the women and society; it is every human’s fundamental right to be in control and have the choice of what to do with their body. Women should not have to suffer because of past events especially if they were uncontrollable and powerless in their situation. Abortion is something required due to aspects that can’t be changed and were not the mother’s fault. Even though …show more content…
All cannot be sweetness and light; for adoption to flourish, the other alternatives need to become shameful once again” (Greenhaven Press 2). Supporters of adoption argue that this is the best possible option for women. They believe that “young people can be saved physically and emotionally” yet are not thinking of the outcome of this certain situation. Not only is it a psychological pain for the women to carry the child for nine months and just let it go after but the child will later on question who the mother and father are. Adoption may seem a decent option yet the effects of it are dreadful for the baby and the mother. However, abortion advocates have presented thoughtful reasoning on why abortion is …show more content…
A woman suffering a mental illness is not capable of raising and taking care of a child. Not only can the mother not take care of herself but adding a child on top of that makes it almost impossible. The child should deserve a better life especially if it's technically not the mother's fault but her illness. For example, BMC Women’s Health, claims that"I can't go through it," "I just felt inadequate [I am] not mentally stable to take that on, emotionally, I couldn't take care of another baby, I couldn't handle it” A 19-year old mother reporting a history of depression and physical abuse describes seeking an abortion because "I have a lot of problems—serious problems and so I'm not prepared
Abortion, which is defined as a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, is one of the most controversial issues in society. Many people believe that abortion is unethical and morally wrong, while others believe that it is a woman’s right to decide what to do with her body. According to www.census.gov, “the number of abortions performed annually in the U.S. has leveled off at 1.2 million a year” (1). This statistic supports how many women are choosing abortion. Although abortion is legal in the United States, many people continue to voice their opinions on how it is a human rights violation and should be illegal everywhere. The practice of abortion should be banned in society because it terminates the life of an innocent unborn child, causes long-term emotional effects, as well as major health risks for women who opt for abortion.
As one knows, some unwanted pregnancies could often be harmful and distressing for a woman. Women should have the right over their body to choose to sustain the fetus or not. In the past decades, women did not have their freedom of abortion in many countries of the world. There have always been controversies going on about abortion. Each individual has dissimilar views on the legality of abortion. Some people are against abortion for personal religious purposes and beliefs. For those who don’t believe in abortion, it is because they see it as killing a fetus, which is a human being. Others support abortion because they believe in women’s rights. Laws of abortion vary in each country, and abortion is not legal all over the world. It is illegal under any conditions but only permitted to save woman’s life if in countries such as Brazil, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates, and Ireland. However, abortion is legal without any restrictions in countries like Canada, Albania, and Italy. It the past decades Abortion was considered as criminal act in Canada. “If an abortion was carried out without such approval, the woman was liable for imprisonment for 2 years, an...
Every day, an overwhelming amount of human beings’ lives are terminated. The culprit: unwanted pregnancies. Many woman are (not by choice), becoming pregnant as a result of unsafe sex, rape, and other things. So what is one to do when they discover that they’re pregnant? They have some alternatives: (1) have the child and raise it (2) have the child, then give it up for adoption (3) get an abortion. Sadly, many women choose alternative three, unaware of what they’re getting themselves into.
In our society, there are many ethical dilemmas that we are faced with that are virtually impossible to solve. One of the most difficult and controversial issues that we are faced with is abortion. There are many strong arguments both for and against the right to have an abortion which are so complicated that it becomes impossible to resolve. The complexity of this issue lies in the different aspects of the argument. The essence of a person, rights, and who is entitled to these rights, are a few of the many aspects which are very difficult to define. There are also issues of what circumstances would justify abortion. Because the issue of abortion is virtually impossible to solve, all one can hope to do is understand the different aspects of the argument so that if he or she is faced with that issue in their own lives, they would be able to make educated and thoughtful decisions in dealing with it.
Being a mother is a lifelong job that requires copious time, energy, and money. There are myriad different reasons in which a woman would consider getting an abortion. The decision is often tragic and painful for the mother. It is one of the biggest choices a woman will make. Many people have strong beliefs about abortion, and if a mother makes a decision that they do not agree with they sometimes turn against the mother, and enkindle egregious feelings about their decision for the rest of their life. Indeed a woman may not get an abortion for selfish reasons or out of convenience, but out of a desire to protect certain important values such as her own health or a decent standard of living for the other members of the family. Additional intentions for having abortion include rape, financial difficulties, obligation by family members, or danger to the baby’s health (Roleff
Imagine…the birth of a human being into the world. 9 months of endless anticipation leading to someone’s first chance at seeing the world for the first time. While some enjoy the result of a pregnancy, leading to a new human being entering life, some are not so fond, or just can’t be in such a situation. Abortion is the supposed “cure” to this problem and is, for the most part, done safely. However, one of the factors stopping someone from committing an abortion is the consideration of moral status on the child.
This seems to be an immeasurable political fight. Abortion versus adoption, why more women choose to abort their babies than give them up for adoption. It is true that the process to abort an unborn baby is less expensive than adopting one, however, this is only true for the adopting family. “Depending on how far along you are in the pregnancy, the cost will range from $500-$2,000 for an abortion” ("Abortion or Adoption"). Granted that some insurances will cover most, if not all, the cost of the abortion if it is deemed a medical emergency. Conversely, most abortions are a mother 's choice and are not deemed a medical need. This being said the mother is responsible for the payment of the abortion in full. “There is no cost to you if you choose adoption. In fact, pregnancy-related expenses are paid for by the adoptive family, which often include medical care and living expenses” ("Abortion or Adoption"). Birth mothers do not have to pay anything out of pocket to place their baby with an adopted family. With that being stated, the process of adoption is essentially cheaper for the birth mother in the long run. The question supplicates, why do so many women still choose to abort their babies? “Some mothers choose abortion instead of adoption because they believe they can’t deal with wondering about where their babies are for the rest of their lives” (Brown, 2012). In cases such as this, open adoptions are the best answer not aborting the baby. If more mothers were educated on all the different types of adoption, then maybe more mothers would choose adoption over
There are 1.5 million adopted children in the United States. (Fields, Jason,) If the parents weren't ready to have to a child, instead of abortion there's adoption. There are different types of adoption. Foster care adoption is the adoption of children in state care for whom reunification with their birth parents is not possible for safety or other reasons. Private adoption can be arranged either through an agency or through independent adoption. Adoption is a lot safer than abortion, if people knew the facts about abortion i bet they'd rather give their child for adoption rather than having an abortion.
Through every choice in life, there is a decision that must follow. Abortion is a woman’s individual choice; therefore, must be a legal part in todays society. Individual rights have an outstanding role in the controversial topic, on whether abortion should become legal in the United States . The individual rights for abortion show rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. As well, women should be able to have the choice to choose to have an abortion for several important reasons. The right to make these decisions should lie in the hands of the “mother” to make decisions concerning their own to make decisions concerning their own bodies. In addition, women should be given the choice to have an abortion if they are too young and unable to take care their child financially or emotionally. Additionally, the right to have an abortion is if the pregnancy negatively affects the woman's or the baby's health. Without abortions as a choice for the “mother” to resort to while she is going through hardship on deciding whether to keep the baby or not, the endless possibilities could negatively influence the mother to put her and the baby in a dangerous positions.
Abortion is a heavy topic to speak about in today’s world because everyone has different opinions on the topic. In the United States it is okay to have an abortion up until the day the baby is born. Abortion is when “a pregnancy is ended so that it doesn't result in the birth of a child. Sometimes it is called 'termination of pregnancy” (BPAS, 2015). Most people in today’s society see abortion as being the same as murder. Some people say that abortion is acceptable and others believe that there is only one person in the world to take others life as that being God. With any issue along the lines of abortion has many tough difficulties knowing if it is right or wrong.
Abortion is an extremely controversial issue and one that is continually on the forefront of debates. Those who oppose the idea (Pro-lifers), thinks it is an act of woman playing “God” who live from who dies. Yet, whether an unborn baby constitutes a normal person is questionable; a pregnant woman, on the other hand, has the undeniable right to choose whether she wants to have a child or not. Therefore, the decision to have an abortion is the personal choice and responsibility of the woman, because prohibiting abortion impedes freedom of choice and endangers the physical and mental health of women.
Abortion has been one of the most talked about topics in society just about anywhere from television, magazines, whether or not it should be the right or wrong thing to do. Abortion is a very sensitive issue to discuss, because of its nature. Many people have said that abortion is a very bad thing to do and it should not even be choice whether or not to abort a living fetus. People think that abortion is committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. However, others feel that a woman should have a voice and have the right to choose to keep the child or not and that it is not murder until the baby is born. Majority of individuals who believe that abortion is bad say that the fetus is human who is partly being formed and to have an abortion is considered to be murder. For the people who think an abortion is ok, say that it’s not considered murder unless the child is born. I believe that abortion should be seen in which the stage the fetus is in. if the fetus is in an early stage of pregnancy it is not considered murder, but if the fetus has already began to develop into a larger fetus then it is indeed considered to be murder. There are times when abortion can be accepted, if the mother is having complications due to pregnancy. For example if the mother is enduring complications in her pregnancy that can harm her, because of the child in that case it is ok to perform an abortion to help save the mother’s life. It is also very important to understand this type of situation. The mother has the right to have an abortion and it is her decision because a mother knows best about her health conditions.
People should choose adoption over abortion. Abortion, to me, is murder that is based on one’s selfishness. Google defines abortion as: deliberate termination of human pregnancy. Pregnancy is carrying a child, or in other words carrying another human. Last I checked, terminating or bringing an end to a human life for selfish reasons is considered murder when done deliberately, and it should be stopped. Abortion is a nice way of saying to murder the unborn child. When people have a pregnancy that was a mistake they look at abortion as there way out. But what they don’t realize is that there pregnancy wasn’t a mistake at all God has a plan and that baby was part of the plan just without their knowledge. So instead of doing something that would help the child, they just help themselves and choose to abort. When people are faced with this decision then they make the choice of abortion, and I get it people make bad decisions sometimes, but other things come into play when making
According to Ronald Reagan, “I have noticed that everybody that is for abortion has been born.” This suggests that, people who want to have an abortion or support the idea of abortion, do not realise that they were given a chance to live. ‘About 182 million pregnancies that happen in developing countries, over one third are unwanted; 19% end up with induced abortion. Out of these 19%: 8% are safe and 11% are unsafe’ (Department of reproductive health and research, World Health Organisation, October 2007). For many years, abortion has been a subject of discussions amongst families, countries, continents, and organisations. Before we move further, here is a clear definition of abortion: (Chambers dictionary, 1999) ‘it is the removal of the fetus from the uterus during the first few months of pregnancy. It may be spontaneous or induced.’ The process is quite hurting and yet people still do it. Abortion is only not practised by unmarried women or girls; it is also practised by women who are married. Moreover some husbands even persuade their wives to have one. But some of these couples are usually faced with this big question; “ARE WE SURE WE WANT TO DO THIS?” This essay would show you reasons why parents should not be allowed to choose whether they want to keep an unwanted fetus and why the baby should live.
Abortions have always been a very controversial topic. Over the years we continue to fight for or against it. One can say that is one of the most talked and argued topic in the United States. An abortion is when a woman terminates her pregnancy before the fetus is viable using various of methods. Some argue that abortions should be illegal and considered murder, while others, from a religious point of view, say that no one has the right to take away the life of a person, in this case the fetus. However, others insist, that abortions are a basic women’s right.
