One very heated discussion in our community is whether or not competitive sports are good for kids. Some believe that they are bad for kids and will push them to do drugs, and bring harm to them. However, others believe that they are good for kids because they prepare them for life and also help counter the obesity epidemic raging through our country. I throw my support to the fact that they are good for kids. As I stated earlier obesity is a big problem in our country and it is only getting worse. Obesity is caused by excess sugar and food getting turned to fat. When kids play sports they end up burning off the extra fat that is caused by the excess sugar and food. Kids and adults who play sports are discouraged from drugs, and if they are found using drugs they will be kicked off the team. Along with this sports also help kids keep their grades up and teach them important life skills. When in sports and school kids must be passing all of their classes in order to compete and this teaches them to manage their time. productive. Additionally, this raises the self-esteem of our youth because, as I stated before, this helps get the weight of obese children down to an average weight and they still have fun. This would also help with bullying for kids who are obese. Kids will also have raised self-esteem because they feel that they are a part of something bigger than themselves. In addition, kids establish their pier rank in sports as well as making new, sometimes lifelong friends. This will strengthen their self-image and they will have even more fun. Whether or not competitive sports are good for kids is a very heated argument. Although it may cause injuries, those that are fatal are rare. Sports teach our youth the skills they need to get through life, they help us counter obesity, and finally, they help raise self-esteem and build a self-image. So do your kids a favor and in-role them in sports.
Obesity is a huge problem that needs to be resolved because it affects all people, unlike most issues. People of every gender, every age, and every race are at risk of being obese. Obesity rates in America have nearly doubled within the last twenty years. Something must be done not only to prevent obesity rates continuous rising, but also to dramatically increase the percentage of obese people in America altogether.
Playing competitive sports affect young people in a good way. They are good because you have that commitment and now its hard to back down. Student athletes can agree with all of this because it teaches discipline and a lot of other things. Parents can disagree with my reason, because they don't want their child to go through with intense training. They think it's way too much for the child.
