Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents are the best teachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Parents are the best teachers because of the amount of influence they have over us, the amount of time we spend with them, and the morals they teach us. I agree with parents are the best teachers. In general, children must learn many things such as the way to treat people, to be polite and be respect, living skill, table manners, basic positive ideas toward things, what should be done or others should not be done, or others else that children do necessarily have in daily life. Also in terms of parents’ religion, their belief, and also political status as well, any thing that related to personal life are connected with parents closely. Parents who can influence children even more then teachers. Because the amount of time that spend with parents is much more then any others. By talking to them, by setting an example, and unconsciously, parents’ behaviors and thoughts influence them a lot, they are the best models for children, however, it’s because children in childhood are the most period that can be easily influenced, no matter they show them for purpose or children learn by themselves. Children observe how their parents treat people, how to handle things happened besides them and then learn it gradually. It can simply describe why lots of tragedies or some negative things news always happened from those people who don’t have complete family background or their parents are not good people. Because their parents didn’t teach them well and their parents affect them incorrectly. I believe that I influenced by my parents deeply as well. I can have my own idea, but according to them, I know lots of things positively, to be polite and be honest, and ethic value toward many things, even accustom doing things and my hobbies are connected with them. They introduced me to a correct way and to be a good person.
In my opinion, parents are the result of a young person’s actions. Parents or caregivers have the biggest influence in their children's lives. I think that the way you raise your children will reflect who they become and their morals. Growing up, a child learns by copying what their parents do for example for me, I got the habit of biting my nails from my mother. Cooking, cleaning, driving, are taught to us by our parents, therefore; children learn to carry on those skills they learn and use them in the future.
As we are introduced to the four key beliefs that form the framework for the MIT program here at City University, (Preparation, Practice, People, and Professionalism) I have chosen to focus first on People, since people are at the core of what we are seeking to become. Obviously there are areas of overlap in the four; like professionalism is going to include preparation, but people are at the heart of it; teachers, parents, children, and administrators working together for the common goal of education.
Therefore, education does not only apply to the classroom. Parental view on education, the parents educational background, and the level of education reached are all factors that could aid in the advancement of learning for both the parent and the child. This mutualistic relationship has truly benefited my
Parents are the first teachers of the students in our future classrooms. From the student’s birth until they enroll in a school program, the job to educate them is up to their parents. Once a child has started school, the job of the parent is not finished in regards to their child’s education; the role is just changing. No longer are parents solely responsible for their child’s education. Instead, parents now have a new partner, teachers. As future teachers, it will be part of our job to facilitate this relationship further and to encourage parents to be involved in not only what happens outside the classroom, but what is happening inside the classroom as well.
Education, we hear that word quite frequently but what does it mean? Miriam Webster’s Dictionary defines education as “the knowledge and development resulting from an educational process”. Everyone needs some education to be a success in life. The amount and types of education can vary but we all need the basics of reading, writing and math to be successful in life, and to be professional in the workplace. I see education as a step to success in the future. Education ideally results in effective communication, and a successful professional life. We have alternate ways of learning, and new things to learn as a result of technology.
I started going back to college a couple of semesters ago and I immediately noticed that when I was doing my homework, readings or discussions; my children started sitting with me at the kitchen table eager to do their homework. It used to be a chore to have my children sit down and concentrate on their academics as they wanted to go play, but now their main focus when coming home from school is to sit with Daddy and do their homework with me. My children are excited every time they get a good grade, when they have a graded paper with a good grade, they come home and the first thing they do is run up to me and show me their grade with bright eyes and a smile going from ear to ear. Since I have gone back to college there have even been multiple comments made by their teachers that they have seen as drastic change in my kid’s attitudes towards school. Because children's positive attitude about school often results in improved behavior in school and less suspension for disciplinary reasons., children have better self-esteem, are more self-disciplined, and show higher aspirations and motivation toward school, and children generally achieve better grades, test scores, and attendance due to the fact that they are more interested as there parent is back in school. Parents going back to school create a positive learning environment that encourages learning
With my recent marriage and the desire to have children soon, these articles sparked an interesting conversation about parenting and various styles in our household. I think both Amy Chua and Hanna Rosin, made compelling arguments for their own methods. I do not feel as though either extreme is good for the development of children, but not having had any children of my own yet, this a theoretical statement based on my own up-bringing. Having been raised in a more western style, I feel like I may have a bias, and can speak more to that. However, there were several times in my life where I wished my mother would have been a little stricter with my completing my studies. In my essay I will accentuate points comparing and contrasting both styles. Are having flawless grades and being a prodigy musician the pinnacle achievements in life? Is the Western, European-American style of parenting causing our children to fall behind in the education system? When reading this, contemplate your style and consider the examples we are setting for children.
After acknowledging to my co-worker that I did hear the conversation with the parent and that by us “brain-storming” we will be able to come up with appropriate responses for his child and the child’s biting.
I believe that parents play a vital role in influencing children during the development process as they create a lasting impact on the child’s overall development as well as on the socialization development. As children grow, they encompass a number of factors influencing their attitudes along with the behavior of that child. These attitudes and characteristics are learned initially from their parents. I also believe that when we are in middle school is when we want to be different to fit in with our peers. We see our peers and believe that the things they are doing are cool; we also want them to like us so we start to do the same things as them, which shows then that friends start to influence us more than adults.
“Child discipline is one of the most important elements of successful parenting” (AllAboutParenting.org, 2002, para. 1), however, there are many different approaches and forms of punishment used by parents today. Some of the most common forms are ‘time-outs’, restriction from play or going to a friend’s house, standing in a corner and physical discipline (spanking). While not every parent will utilize any or all of these methods, there are many options to consider when looking for the most suitable or effective way to discipline a child.
“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” ― William Arthur Ward
Everyone knows that when it comes to making a difference in a child’s academic and life achievements, their teachers play a large role. A teacher’s ability to relate to their students, and teach them to achieve both socially and academically contributes to how effective they are. What does it mean to be an effective teacher? Overall there seems to be an emphasis on teacher effectiveness related to how well their students are performing on standardized testing. As teachers we know there is more to being an effective teacher then just teaching our students based on tests. This paper will identify different definitions of an effective teacher along with how to assess teachers on being effective.
In the mindset of a parent, he or she plans to educate their child to face the real world. Parents do the best they can to educate their children. Morals and responsibility are well established in the childhood of a person due to the discipline and role modeling of a parent. The discipline of the children is mainly the responsibility of the parent. The role modeling of parents greatly establishes the morality of a child.
There are many things which make a teacher great and they all can`t be defined. However i`ve always considered several of them essential. In my opinion a good teacher is someonewho first of all creates interest in studying, doesn`t underestimate the children, has equal expectations of siccess from everyone and last but not least likes his job.
Parental involvement promotes the social growth of a child. Children whose parents are involved in their education have many advantages. They have better grades, test scores, long-term academic achievement, attitudes and behavior than those with disinterested mothers and fathers (Gestwicki, 2001). Parents becoming involved in their child's schooling creates extra sources of social constraint to influence the child's behavior (McNeal, 2001). For example, parents talking to their children and becoming involved in the school conveys a message to the child of education being important. Parents should be talking with your children's teacher and letting her know about your family. The more she knows about your child, the better she will be able to connect with your child.
