There are scientific questions and non-scientific questions. Scientific questions can be answered by experimenting and factual reasoning while non-scientific questions such philosophical questions are harder to answer as we may never truly know the right answer.
Two scientific questions that have effectively been answered include “Are humans to blame for global warming” and “Can humans live forever?”
Are humans to blame for global warming?
The Earth's climate has changed all the time throughout history. Most of these climate changes are due to very small changes in the Earth’s orbit that have altered the levels of solar energy our planet receives. The current rate is significant because now we are sure that it is the result of human activity. Satellites have let scientists see our planet and its climate on a global scale. It is widely accepted by many scientists that increased levels of greenhouse gases caused by humans are

The lengthening of lifespans is due to rising standards of living, better education, healthier nutrition and more healthy lifestyles. Since the development of antibiotics and safer medical practices the rate of mortality in adults and children has dropped dramatically which in itself has lengthened the average lifespan of a human being. As we find better treatments and cures for diseases the more likely it is that our lifespans will get even longer. Despite this most scientists now agree that despite human lifespans going up we do have a maximum age which humans can’t live past as our bodies wouldn’t be able to take it and we would die of old age. Some scientists say that the maximum lifespan of a human is 125 years old while other scientists say that the maximum lifespan of a human is 115 years old. Even though the actual maximum age of a human is in dispute most scientists do agree however that humans cannot live
Many scientist believe that the current warming trend is significant because, much of it has been caused by human activities. Satellites orbiting the earth and other technological equipment enables scientists to see and collect various information about our planets climate. Scientists have studied this collected information and has revealed the many changes of our planet and how these changes are effecting our climate, a few of them are:
First, during the last few decades the Earth is experiencing greater rate of rising temperatures due to greenhouse gases that are being produced by human activities rather than because of environmental reasons, such as solar or volcanic activities. In 2006 the President of the National Academy of Sciences stated: “There is no doubt that the Earth is warming,” also he added that people are at least partly responsible for these changes in addition to regular factors (Cicerone, par.4). Natural factors have produced climate fluctuations on Earth for several million years. People have effected an atmosphere of the Earth just for nearly one hundred years, since Industrial Revolution has begun (Revkin 340). Of course, it is unfair to say that global warming is caused entirely by humans. For example, people can not have an impact on the position of Earth in relation to the sun, or on the galactic density, or such nature events as air emissions of volcanic gases. As a result of these environmental factors, Earth usually had higher rates of temperature fluctuations during the previous million years than it has in later centuries. On the other hand, people are responsible for the highest concentration of greenhouse gases during the last 650,000 years in the atmosphere due to industrial manufacturing, driven by the increase in consumer consumption (Lindsey, par.
Biological factors include my age, sex, height, weight, and blood pressure. Obviously, the higher my age is currently, the higher the age I am likely to achieve. As a woman, I am likely to live longer than a man as
Scientists have determined that weather systems are changeable. Over a large amount of time, the earths tilt changes, causing the axis’s to tilt more one way then it used to, and thus changing the weather. Greenhouse gasses may also change the weather, making our climate either much hotter or much cooler. Ice caps and deserts have one thing in common, one small change in the weather can change them- and they will change the world.
For a significant number of years it has been evident that global temperatures were rising and that human activity is a major contributing factor to this rise. The rise in temperature is not only heating the planet but having an adverse effect on the global climate.
Personally, I can try to understand what it means to age in our society by learning about social gerontology and looking into the different aging perspectives, but at the end of the day, I am a twenty-two year old female who has much of my life still ahead of me, I am never going to understand being in an age category that is often times
They believe that humans have caused most of the past century’s warming by releasing greenhouse gases; their levels are higher now than in the last six hundred fifty thousand years. Greenhouse gases happen when sunlight shines onto the Earth's surface, where it is absorbed and then radiated back into the atmosphere as heat. In the atmosphere, “greenhouse” gases trap some of this heat, and the rest escapes into space. Carbon dioxide is the primary greenhouse gas that is contributing to recent climate change. CO2 is absorbed and emitted naturally as part of the carbon cycle, through plant and animal respiration, volcanic eruptions, and ocean-atmosphere exchange. Human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels and changes in land use, release large amounts of CO2, causing concentrations in the atmosphere to rise. The rapid rise in greenhouse gases is presenting two major problems: extreme weather and melting of ice sheets. In addition, our sea levels could potentially rise too high, possibly flooding
During the 19th and 20th century, a lot of people lived a really long life, some of them lived for one hundred, two hundred and even three hundred years. However, now in the 21st century, if a person lives for a hundred years, he is considered a living legend during these times. Moreover, the synthesis of new medications have also been researched but none of them work at all to increase a person's life expectancy. Do you want to live your life for a hundred years or even more? Although many new diseases have recently showed up, we can not blame those diseases. The choices we make affect the longevity of our lives.
but humans are responsible for the recent climate change and endangers to their health. The
To be independent and on our own without help. We go to school for normally 16 years to have a career to support ourselves and a family. The average lifespan for humans is around 79 years. It is said that woman normally do outlive men. A fun fact is the longest living person ever recorded was 122 years old!! I chose to write our lifespan development because it is something that interest me. To start out at a single cell and develop into human beings is something that fascinates me.Human's truly are incredible species. All the information I found was so knowledgeable and our textbook does an excellent job describing this chapter. Over the years the life expectancy (in the US) has increased. An interesting fact I found said "The Japanese live the longest and healthiest lives, on average and those with the shortest life expectancies reside in Southern Africa." (http://www.everydayhealth.com/news/10-essential-facts-about-life-expectancy/)As we age and develop, we are constantly learning new things and maturing. Not only do we change physically, but we also change socially. The way we communicate when we areteenagers is very different from the way we will communicate in late adulthood. Our brains areconstantly developing and changing. "Love and work are two key themes that dominate adultdevelopment. Friends continue to be important in adult- hood. Forming a committed, intimate relationship is one important task traditionally associated with early adulthood."(396) As we develop our priorities change. For example, when I was 8 years old all I cared about was cheerleading and playing with my friends. Now that I am almost 20 my main focus is working to pay bills, trying to prepare for marriage and children one day. As my life progresses on I will continue to learn new things and change. The human mind is amazing and so interesting
Climate change is a long-term change in regional or global climate patterns. From the mid twentieth century to now, it has mostly been about a significant increase in average global temperatures. Climate change is a major issue in the world today, and a lot of people feel very differently about the cause of it. The common argument about it is whether climate change is a natural occurrence or if the recent increase in temperatures is because of humans. Climate change is a natural cycle in the Earth’s weather. Before humans started burning fossil fuels, there were still weather cycles on Earth that were as hot or hotter than what it is now. In fact, Earth’s weather now, is on pace with the previous weather patterns in history. Human emitted
The commonly debated “greenhouse effect” refers to “the global average temperature increase that has been observed over the last one hundred years or more” (Spencer). President Barack Obama addressed the issue in an effort to highlight its severity, "We have to all shoulder the responsibility for keeping the planet habitable, or we’re going to suffer the consequences – together” (Leader). The earth’s increasing atmospheric and oceanic temperatures result in climate changes due to cumulative amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. As an outcome, researchers around the globe have established that the by-product of burning fossil fuels is the main culprit of the increasing temperatures. Global carbon emissions from fossil fuels have significantly increased since 1900, as shown above from a study carried out by the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center.
Climate change is evidenced through shifts in the weather patterns such as winds, humidity and temperatures over certain durations. Natural climate changes occur less frequently and they are triggered by factors related to geographical aspects as well as solar radiation. The earth’s movement on the orbit triggers changes in climate, causing some areas to have higher temperatures than usual, while others are significantly cold depending on the position of the earth on the orbit. The heat from the sun causes changes in the stratospheric ozone and it increases the amount of greenhouse gases. Heat from the oceanic crust also contributes to warming as a result of episodic hydrothermal venting (Liao & Sandeberg, 2012).
Scientist shouldn’t continue to increase human lifespan because the world is going to become over populated and also the people that live longer will have more expenses to live longer, they will still have diseases and will still suffer, and also face societal problems. Living longer mean facing societal problems, like having more expenses to live and also having so many extra people on the planet, if people lives longer than they should the world in going to become an over populated place. The main concern of David Ewing Duncan in the article is that “millions of healthy centenarians still working
