In my life as a student I believe that success, as an engineer in this day and age, requires technical competence and a combination of leadership, communication, and management. I am fortunate that I have gained much of these skills when I was elected and duly appointed as one of the Student's Representative Council (SRC) members in my high school. Being a leader, I have learned and trained myself the importance to have a good discipline, communication and managing skills. With that good foundation at high school I hope to reach academic excellence, leadership and a deeper understanding of the world in which I live when I experience university life through dedication, maximum effort, and hard work and eventually participating and contributing towards university’s strategic plan of global excellence education. Therefore, with the commitment that I put on the university I hope it will cultivate the university diverse and inclusive community.
In addition of that, as a Malaysian I will unconsciously promote diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and intellectual endeavors in the university ...
As a leader candidate, I can understand the challenges and multiplicity of complications that administrators must face each day. However, I will not accept any remote possibility that the students must be affected by some flaws of the school organization. We all as leaders, must be strategic with people, time, and money to guide our students towards an academic success.
I would like to thank Salish Kootenai College for giving me the wonderful opportunity of applying for STEM academy. If somebody had told me that I would be applying for college classes as a sophomore, I would not have believed them. My parents have always told me that when an opportunity comes, you should take it, and I do not plan on letting this experience go to waste. Education has been a big part of my life, and this academy can only help me move forward. That being said, here are a few reasons why I should be considered a candidate for the STEM academy. Joining the STEM academy will allow me to further my knowledge and help me to get closer to my goals, my academic career would flourish, and I would be closer to my ambition for my future. I am determined to become the best and most educated version of myself that I can possibly be.
First of all, I want to go to the same school with my brother. Being twins, I feel like a half piece of me is in California and another half in Massachusetts. It is not normal for twins to be separated, they should be together. Phillip and I have been so close growing up. He is my best friend. I miss my brother a lot because he lives 2,987.1 miles away. Thanksgiving Breaks and Christmas Breaks are precious to me because I get to enjoy time with my twin brother. It pains me to wave goodbye to Phillip at the airport because I will not see him for another 2 or so months. I know that my brother feels alone on plane rides and I think I can change that by going to Deerfield with him. In addition, it is also frustrating to my parents because of the long-distance separation. During the parent weekend, my mom took care of me while my dad visited my brother. It would be easier for my parents if we both went to Deerfield. From my brother, I heard a lot about Deerfield’s awesome education environment, athletics and the diverse friends he has made. I believe that I can also excel in Deerfield’s classes, athletics, clubs and be able to contribute greatly to Deerfield community.
... a lot of knowledge during the Leadership and Organisation Dynamics. I learn on how we lead from a group to become a team. A group can become a team when all members are sure enough of themselves and their dedication in order to laud another’s skills. I believe that in many circumstances, taking the initiative to provide suggestion or ideas can be effective in every situation, a leadership role has to be played so that a team can be effective. On the other hand, it is important to consider all members’ suggestion or ideas to the team as they will feel a sense of belonging in the team. Throughout the semester, I understand my role and responsibility in a team to perform better in future. I educated how to collaborate and work with others and I am trained to work in groups, interact with people that we don’t know and tolerate them as it can help in my future career.
Through the multiple visits to the University, I’ve notice an important aspect that makes this campus a unique place and that is its diversity. I want to learn from a diverse multitude of both people and staff. People that understand me and understands where I come from. People
I am studying at Auckland International College (AIC), whose students come from many countries in the world, such as New Zealand, South Africa, America, Russian, China, Korea, etc. In this aspect, I believe that this life is similar to life at university because I, as well, have to communicate with people who have different nationalities and speak different languages. Nationality and language are factors that usually prevent a student from assimilating into a new environment. However, I think the experience at AIC can help me overcome these obstacles; and I, in turn, will support other international students. This is the way that I will contribute to life at Rice.
A world-class engineering student, also known as an “expert learner,” is characterized by taking charge of their learning process, being active in their approach to learning, being motivated and disciplined as well as setting specific goals for themself. Becoming a world-class engineering student is a process that takes time and diligence. In order to become a world-class engineering student, I will have to identify where I stand currently in terms of goal setting, community building, academic development and personal development, where a world-class engineering student would be in each of those areas, and what I have to do in order to become a world-class engineering student.
Leadership is the key element for engineers to become successful in their professional life. Having high technical skills and creative ideas is not enough to success in engineering profession because it is difficult to convert the skills and ideas into deeds without working with talented people. Leadership traits enable the engineer to mobilize the people to achieve challenging goals. To have the power to influence the people, engineers should create plan to develop their leadership skills. As a result, I follow many steps to develop my personal leadership plan which are defining key component to make a leader, conducting self -assessment tests, and evaluating strengths and weakness while taking the leadership
All institutions have a strong commitment to widen participation and ensure equality and diversity of the student body and enhance a sense of belonging. With regard to multicultural backgrounds, institutions must develop cross-cultural
Technology is increasing exponentially, and now I am a part of that ‘future’. When I look into my future, I see myself working toward the minimization of the human imprint in our world more specifically energy consumption. Being an Electrical Engineer, clean energy is an area that I am deeply passionate about. We are part of an ecosystem which is threatened every day by our wastes. Yes! We do use recycling, wind turbines, and hydraulics, but we need to take advantage of these to produce cleaner energy. To get closer to my passion, I will master in Mechanical Engineering so that I can have a clear understanding of the interactions of electronics and their mechanics. I believe every engineer should take some type of environmental courses to understand the direct effects of engineering in our surroundings. Therefore, one my academic goals is to study the environment so that when I create something I have thought of the ways it may impact nature. When I imagine my finish line, I see myself working alongside others who want to build a greener planet, who want to see oil-free oceans, and who can coexist with nature. I believe that engineering is the way to move towards this future and it is the reason why I decided to pursue it. In H.A.C.U, I will meet people who share similar views as me, who are willing to collaborate ideas,
I love solving problems and being challenged intellectually. Therefore, discovering the solution to a difficult problem provides a sense of accomplishment. It is extraordinary how numbers intermingle and enables one to view the world in new ways. As a young student, I demonstrated a strong sense of academic excellence with a passion for math and science. As a matter of fact, my peers voted me “most likely to find a cure for cancer”. Admittedly, at the time, I voiced extreme disappointment because, like all fifth graders I hoped to be voted the rock star, actor, or Olympic medalist. Although, in retrospect, that vote fits well with my desire to become a chemical engineer. Furthermore, engineering not only satisfies my intellectual curiosity,
...ape me to be a thinker and a learner. The world is literally becoming a global village where opportunities for learning are transcending physical boundaries. In a connected world, Indian knowledge workers are increasingly contributing to the global work force. International education will give me the training and the competence to meet global clients. I look forward to being an active contributing member of the student community at your University.
Obstacles had never been obstructing my effort to succeed in life. As an engineer to be, it is important to me to be prepared for the hurdles in the real world. The world nowadays needs a person who could compete and has great abilities to stand on the same level as others. Multiple skills and critical opinion of an issue are essential for an engineer to jump into this challenging career. For me, a strategic planning and full preparation need to achieve the aim of being an expert engineer.
Standing on the threshold if my under graduation, I realize that graduation from the right university in that the right country with a vast library of knowledge holds the key to the fulfillment of my goal so not just be an civil engineer who enriches life with his knowledge, but one who can use his knowledge and intelligence to enrich the subject that has become his life.
Therefore, learning to accept our multiracial society as a whole is important. Being moderate and show respect towards other’s beliefs is one of the ways of doing so. There are many approaches in nurturing harmony within diversity where the people of this country plays a major role in doing so. Our current prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak did his part by launching the 1 Malaysia programme which places emphasis on ethnic harmony. Since a boat doesn’t go forward if each one is rowing his own way, therefore, it is vital for all Malaysians to unite and uphold the harmonics in diversity that is fundamental for our country’s
