I always knew that I was interested in learning about technology ever since I saw the inside of a desktop in seventh grade. It was fascinating to learn how different components of a computer come together: if one part of a computer fails or has higher or lower specs than the rest of its components, the entire system fails. It’s like yin and yang.
During the summer of junior year I interned at Accenture. I worked in the IT department, diagnosing and resolving PC hardware and software issues and imaging an endless amount of computers for new hires. I enjoyed the freedom I had to explore new aspects and specs for computers: I was both a co-worker and a student, rather than just someone who shadowed other workers. At the end of my internship, I found a new and more intimate appreciation for technology, but I also felt an unknown longing for something more.

In Engineering Design, I designed a functioning robot to compete in an obstacle course. I enjoyed assembling the robot, working in the shop, and seeing the final result of the robot. I liked the design process overall because it allowed me to be critical of my ideas, see where I could improve, understand how I could most efficiently complete the
The first piece of technology that was introduced to me was the amazing, ground-breaking GameBoy created by Nintendo. My parents believed that my obsession with video games in my juvenile years would be the cause of my downfall when I would become an adult with no job, no money, and still lived with my parents. I admit that I did have an addiction in the beginning, but over the years it moderated as I became more attracted to what was actually done to develop the devices and programs that once ensnared me. Enrolling into a vocational high school, I selected Programming & Web Development as my choice of trade in order for me to learn more about this extraordinary field of science. Soon I began compiling my own applications, but with a method unorthodox compared to my classmates; I believed that the vivid aesthetics and simple navigation displayed on applications were just as crucial as the tediously compiled, intricate code virtually hidden underneath. With every annual keynote that was broadcasted from numerous Silicon Valley companies, their latest innovations constantly entertained my curiosity. Advancing as an upperclassmen, I entered into challenging courses and incessantly researched innumerable universities as I began to devise a plan of recruitment for the companies of the Bay Area. Enrolling into a university that is passionate about the
Attaining a higher education is the dream of many, but for underrepresented students in the United States, dreaming is only half of the battle to get into many prestigious universities. Most recently, all eyes have been on diversity in college campuses around the United States. The questions about the lack of diversity stem from many factors: not only external but also internal. Although students are motivated, their surroundings are a major factor as to why many don 't get in to schools and in most cases don 't even apply. Similar to the exterior forces that deter underrepresented students to apply and affects their admission is the internal forces they encounter. Some of the socioeconomic factors that lead to inaccessibility for underrepresented students are: lack of outside motivation, social stigma, perfectionism, financial barriers and lack of resources in low-income schools.
Being employee with Accenture was an eye opener for me, and then I found my inclination towards information system and bu...
At an early age, I gravitated towards electronics as a means of distraction. However, my distraction transformed into curiosity when I understood that technology had the potential
The reliability in designs to design a new product is challenging issue for any industry in the present world. Designing a new product which is more reliable and standard is a head bursting problem for all. Engineering design field is vast field. Any design can’t pass to the final design stage at its first design. It takes many different phases before it is approved to enter into the manufacturing process. An engineer should be clear about which method to follow to meet the companies requirement at the end. Engineering design gives different ways for a designer to carry on the design in different platforms using CAD software’s.
Ever since I built my first computer early in 2012, I have had an avid interest in computing and technology. From hardware to software, I enjoy it all. I love everything about building computers, and I mean everything. From making the list of parts, to the Lego-like building process, to the final POST of the motherboard, I enjoy...
My history in science and technology began in the fourth grade when I received my first computer and ipod. The computer was a basic needs one. It did not have any particularly special pieces of hardware. The Ipod was not special either. Even though they were basic needs pieces of technology, I worshipped them. I came to become attached to the and protected them with my life. But one day, I broke my computer. Some liquid seemed to have found its way into the hardware and damaged it. So inturn, we took it to a computer repairment store but they said the damage was beyond repair. But I did not give up so easily. I saved money for months and purchased replacements for the damaged portions. I took apart the computer and replaced the hardware. Soon enough, the computer was up and running for a couple of years.
...deas and knowledge. Also, it is essential to understand in order to succeed in school, find information, and qualify for most jobs. New technologies continue to be created. The wisest step is to embrace the new technologies since they are unlikely to go away. Those who have the most knowledge of new technologies are able to accomplish more, and find more options available to them in life.
During my winter vacation 2015, I obtained a rare opportunity to participate in an electronic science and technology company as an intern. Over this one month span, I finished the required tasks and made some good friends. I am very grateful to this valuable experience which made me contact with the real working environment and align myself with the real programmer. Through this internship, I deeply felt there is a big gap between the renewal speed of school knowledge and the pace of the development of the computer field. It reminds me to keep myself consistent with the advanced
Even though I read the Design Process syllabus before attending class, and it explicitly stated that the class would be different, I was amazed of how different it truly was. During the professors first presentation however, it became very clear that the course was indeed completely different from any class I have ever taken before. Instead of simply learning knowledge, the course is based on actually creating knowledge by using our imagination and using that knowledge to solve the challenges which the world is facing. The engineering researc...
Early computers were nothing more than people, who's job was to “compute” by doing math by hand. Full of errors and tedious, mechanical devices were invented that could make the job easier. Even though the technology was out, it didn't catch on due to being pricey. Modern computing begins with the ENIAC, and went into full speed with the improvements of the IC. In the past 3 decades, the shift in computing has been from private to home use, and technology plays and increasingly important role in our lives. Technology is always being improved, and is being innovated in more ways than just computers used for doing work.
Every year thousands of students graduate from college with some kind of degree and try to pursue a successful career. One career that students seek out the most is the field of engineering. To become a successful world class engineering student I have to set a variety of goals, build community bonds, have a strong academic background, and develop myself on a professional level.
All of my assignments and reporting vastly required the use of various software systems as well as basic computer skills in order to successfully complete the assignments. I used Microsoft Excel to keep record of data and I think that my Excel skills have greatly improved to a whole other level through the work I have completed on the software throughout my internship. I also got a chance to learn more about other different programs such as PeopleSoft, an accounting program, and ImageNOW, a program used for keeping
My first real experience with computers, as we know them today, was while I was in the Navy. Once we learned to use commands called "Dos", we could make the computer do unbelievable things. I became obsessed with learning as much as I could abo...
An engineering degree is one of the most pursued academic paths at a university level around the globe. There are many steps and procedures to become a good student, planning, monitoring, and evaluating are the best way to become a good student. Graduating with a bachelor degree in biomedical engineering is currently my major goal. I choose this field of engineering because I would like to work with people and computers. I also want to help the world to be a better place. I am confident I can reach my goal. There are lots of opportunities for me to become successful in this field. Also, I know that this is something I can attain if I just set my mind and focus at the goal, by working hard efficiently and take in all the knowledge around me.
