The envisioned future consists of two parts, a 10-to-30-year audacious goal and descriptions about achieving this goal. (Collins and Porras 1996) Big Hairy Audacious Goal - BHAG Although many companies set goals and strive to achieve these goals, a BHAG is different. A BHAG, is a goal that the company is fully committed to. It is hugely compelling and helps encourage team spirit to achieve this goal. The BHAG at 'vision level' is aimed at a ten to thirty year period for the business. A lot of thought is required to look that far into the businesses future and forecast any environmental changes. (Collins and Porras 1996) Vivid Description The vivid description, describes what it would be like to achieve the BHAG. It is vibrant and engaging. …show more content…
For example Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, embedded his vision and mission into the company. The importance of Apple's vision and mission has be communicated on numerous occasions by employees. Following the death of the founder, Steve Jobs, the company continues to thrive on success, and I believe that this is because of the strong values in the company. Although the main manager passed away, the business knew what they had to do and followed the vision and mission statements. Apple's vision …show more content…
We are constantly focusing on innovating. We believe in the simple not the complex. We believe that we need to own and control the primary technologies behind the products that we make, and participate only in markets where we can make a significant contribution. We believe in saying no to thousands of projects, so that we can really focus on the few that are truly important and meaningful to us. We believe in deep collaboration and cross-pollination of our groups, which allow us to innovate in a way that others cannot. And frankly, we don’t settle for anything less than excellence in every group in the company, and we have the self- honesty to admit when we’re wrong and the courage to change. And I think regardless of who is in what job those values are so embedded in this company that Apple will do extremely well.” This vision statement has a great amount of detail in it. In my opinion this detail reflects on the industry in which Apple is competing in, the technology industry. Although there is a lot of description in the vision statement, there are no exact times or strategies of how they will achieve their goals. The vision statement explains what the company want to do and who they believe they
The benefits to those organizations that choose to embark on the process of developing a long-range plan are numerous as well as invaluable. Organizations that commit to such planning are able to establish objectives and priorities, make clear their future direction, adapting to both internal and external environmental changes, resolve major issues that impact the organization and obstacles and provide a clear and justifiable rationale for decision making (Bryson & Einsweiler, 1988, p. 3). Ultimately, the public is better
Kevin E. Gentzler definition of organization vision. “A picture of the future framed by a values-based purpose that creates a path to drive behavior, change and motivation.” provides a comprehensive and all-encompassing tool for a leader to use in leading an organization. My vision for the unit is: “The 4th ABCT excelling at achieving mission accomplishment and organizational enhancement by employing high morals, adaptability, and commitment to duty fostering a unit disciplined in thought and actions, always learning and developing, and inspired to execute and support brigade requirements”. This vision should definitely enable the unit to fight, win, and develop for years into the future. Next, additional problem solutions for the 4th ABCT are
In today 's era, there are a lot of companies that provide services all around the world that benefit everyone. Some of those companies provide only internet, while others provide that and/or the device used with the internet. One of the most popular companies that exists as of today is the Apple Company. The Apple Company was founded back in 1976 and its main thing was to create and produce computers and other electronics such as music players, cellular phones, and other merchandises. But the company became quite known, and as of today, it sells from just phone cases to televisions.
Apple Inc. is a worldwide company that is one of the most valuable brands to ever be founded. As of today, the company is worth a staggering $786 billion! The reasons behind this giant company’s success is through their products that they sell. All their products are very well made and the customer loyalty is very stable. Apple was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976. They incorporated the company in 1977. For more than three decades, Apple was predominantly a company that sold personal computers including the Apple II, Macintosh, and the Power Mac. Steve Jobs was fired from the company in 1985 because of the poor sales and low market share that the company was facing. During that time, Apple started to be more of the innovators. Because Apple was starting to make enough money to start acquiring smaller companies that benefited the company, Steve Jobs’
Vision statements are long-range goals of an individual or business. These goals describe core competencies that provide competitive advantage (De Kluyver & Pearce, 2011). Creating a personal vision statement involves envisioning the future from different points in time. Looking at a few months ahead out to a few years covers this area. The goal is to picture the desired goal for the future and evaluate the present to see what changes are needed to achieve the goal. The future self is directly connected to the present self as they are both a part of the entire person (Peterkin, 2003).
Plan of Action: Apple’ main philosophy is to continue to have creative ways of thinking, have a business model of direct sales, provide customer services, and provide Apple named products (Jinjin, 2013). The business is dedicated to bringing about the most excellent user involvement to its clients via its ingenious software, hardware, and service delivery. Apple’s plan of action advantage is that it has a par...

Apple management must bridge the perceived innovation gap with some sort of product breakthrough. Otherwise, it is reasonable for the company to accept lower Street expectations built upon the premise that while the company remains an exceptional production, distribution and branded business, the days of unparalleled enterprising innovation and leadership may be ebbing.
On October 5, 2011 Steve Jobs passed away in his home in Palo Alto California; Jobs had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2003. Steve brought so much different technological advancement that most people use everyday without knowing who created them. Everything that Jobs created, he did because he understood what his customers wanted, and where the market was going. Steve Jobs believed in all of his products and innovations he sold to people, and had faith in the people he worked with was what really shaped Apple. After leaving the company and then returning, Steve Jobs’ influence made Apple one of the top computer companies in the world.
The company not only produces the number of highly technological devices, but also has a great brand ideology lying behind. The following chapters would review each of factors determining Apple`s success.
Apple aims to minimize the uncertainty in the innovative process while making sure the abilities and incentives of executives who exercise strategic control over the projects.
Apple is significant to me since my Blackberry crashed twice (I lost everything). Apple’s Icloud stores all your information in one step in the cloud. Apple uses a fundamental HR strategy - Hire for innovation- the employees they hire are great talent, that fits the company’s atmosphere of we are the best.
It is expected for such a company to feel obligated to deliver upon the American dream. The publicity of such comments does not only affect a company’s reputation but also financial performance. Apple have a role in ensuring that America as a nation grows, itself having been molded by the country’s economic muscle and enabling environment for business. The point in this is that, although the company is obliged to make better products, America is one of her best markets and it has an obligation to its market.
We think Steve Jobs was a successful leader because he was imaginative, passionate about his job, he had the ability to push employees to create new things, had confidence, and believed in collaboration. Under Steve Jobs' leadership Apple was an innovative company and under Tim Cook's leadership Apple is now being seen as more of charitable, socially and ethically responsible company. While [he’s heard the repeated refrains that “Apple can’t innovate under Tim,” that the company needed a low-cost iPhone to thwart the progress of Google’s Android, that Cook never could replicate the Jobs magic—and therefore that Apple never again would be “insanely great.” ] (Lashinsky, 2015), he hasn’t changed his methods since Jobs’ passing and continues to lead in a way that he believes will raise Apple’s value in the eyes of society.
Generally the goal to make products is focused on technology first, the need of such products is weighed after but Apple’s approach is not to serve the technology but it is to serve the need and engineers actually make them for themselves. It gives them a real feeling of need and a need to make the product. It has to be something that they personally couldn’t live
