English 11 Eleventh grade Research Paper Proposal for Research Paper Grace Miller Date of Submission: May 7, 2014 Proposed title of Research Paper: How an Apple changed the world Introduction For this research project I will be writing about what Steve jobs accomplished during his life. He developed many things that we all know and love one of which being the wonderfully designed IPhone. I also know that everywhere you go even when you just walk across the street you are bound to see a person using an IPhone. I know a lot about all the things he invented especially the line of IPods that can hold from one hundred to two thousand songs and apps because I have been using one since the day they came out. I don’t know as much on the other devices like the IPads, MacBook’s, Apple TV’s but I will by the end of this paper. Steve wasn’t just the founder of Apple but he also worked with a software company called NeXT which he later merged with Apple. He also part owner of Pixar and helped develop movies such as “Finding Nemo” and “Toy Story” This is some of what I will be talking about in my report. Explanation of the Significance This topic is important for me to write about because I am really into anything technology related. Ever since I was a little kid I have been really adept with all technology. I would rush home after school so I could play with the paint program on our old gateway computer. But what Steve jobs accomplished during his life is my life dream. One day, I hope that I could make a product such as influential and wide spread as an Apple product. What I hope to accomplish when writing about Steve’s accomplishments is simply this. I want to know everything about how he accomplished so very much during his life. Steve developed innovations and inventions in technology that were meant to benefit the people. He wanted to make technology accessible to everyone, so he made his tech smaller and cheaper. In addition to creating technology that helps us in more ways than one, is that he also donated large sums of his own money to charities. Jobs was a very private person and never mentioned philanthropic duties in the media (which lead to many criticising him) but did in fact donate $50 million to Stanford hospitals in California and funded HIV and AIDS research.
Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple computers, was influenced by the very same transcendental ideas expressed by Ralph Waldo Emerson, namely self-reliance and determination. Steve Wozniak has affected the world with his invention of Apple. The first Apple product was sold in 1976 and is now ranking in today as number four with the IPhone 7 on the list of “10 best smart phones in the US”. In discussions of Wozniak, a turning point was in 1976 when Wozniak and his partner Steve Jobs started Apple computers. I believe this point in time was important to me because I will be going and studying business, from then on Wozniak made Apple into a billion-dollar brand. The following points illustrate the importance of this turning point in time. Wozniak started not only his own products but his own business, he knew that people would always need phones and computers so upon inventing the apple I phones and laptops he made them smaller to accommodate for easier access, on top of all that he turned his own business into a billion-dollar company while. Reasons like this is what inspires me to start my own business.

With the development of technology, smartphones seem to be deeply occupying our life. When it comes to smartphones, the first two brands that come into our mind would be Apple and Samsung. These two technology companies are the most popular and excellent in the world. Every year when they are going to release new products, without any controversy, their products will draw people’s attention a lot. In fact, the competition between Apple and Samsung has been ongoing for a long time. Different people have their own biased to choose their phones, as some people may prefer iPhone series; instead, other people may favor Samsung more. Each of them has their own merits to attract the public to buy them. I use a picture as my text to illustrate the

Through the success of the iPhone and iPad, Apple became widely known not only across the United States but to other countries as well. Apple now is one of the largest technology companies in the world, leaving an imprint on the technology we use nearly every day. Overall, Jobs had influenced the technology world as a whole. Jobs' primary legacy is the company he built over the last decade into the most valuable company in the world, and Apple has profoundly influenced how we all think not solely about technology, but about innovation itself (Gobble 63). Samsung and Apple hold the top two spots in the smartphone vendor market worldwide largely due to their flagship phones both paired with the most powerful, yet user friendly mobile operating systems available (Jones, 2016). Samsung released its first Android smartphone in June 2009, however, it was not until the release of the Samsung Galaxy S a year later, that Samsung smartphones could compare to the iPhone. In fact the design of the phones and other Samsung devices were similar enough to spark a patent battle lasting from 2010 to 2015 between the two companies. Not only did this battle create more competition between the companies, it also fueled the competition between consumers.
