Their population in the early settlement in 1878 was estimated between 1600 and 2400 and now it is estimated that it is the U.S. Census Bureau reported that 53,330 people identified themselves as Apache, up from 35,861 in 1980.
Traditional family groups: The Chiricahua: their most noted leaders being Cochise, Victorio, Loco, Chato, Nahche, Bonito and Geronimo, Lipan: The Lipan are first mentioned in Spanish records in 1718 when they raided Spanish settlements in San Antonio. It seems likely that the Lipan had become established in Texas during the latter half of the 17th century.

Apache native Americans all genders had mostly the same roles like looking for food and cleaning up and rounding up the horses. Both males and Females have different roles but most of them are the same.

The Choctaws in the Southeast were a matrilineal society. Traditionally, women preformed tasks related to domestic life. Among these responsibilities were creating pottery and utensils, food preparation, and planting and harvesting crops. The majority of their diet consisted of agricultural products such as corn, pumpkins, squash, and beans. Women would also accompany men on hunting excursions in order to provide food preparation. Though, in the 1800s, they decided to abandon this lifestyle and become nomadic and move to South Dakota (Black Hills), Wyoming, and Colorado areas. No matter where the Cheyenne lived, they always kept their natural language, which was part of the Algonquin language family (Lewis).
