Antarctica is the coldest and remote place on earth also it's very existence was questioned by navigators for centuries even after it was discovered after 1820 , this place was also known as "A land unknown". This analytical essay will talk about the Terra Nova Expedition by Robert falcon Scott and would focus on four points which caused this expedition to fail. 20th century was the race to travel to be the first person to stand on the south pole. Scott was chosen for this task and he wanted to go on this expedition not only because he wanted to be the first but also he was a scientist ahead of his time. His purpose was to do the scintific researches on the pole. On November 19 he board the ship Terranova, he established his base camp in a hut at Cape Evans and on November 1, 1911 after a year of preparation he and his team in total of 5 men started their journey to the south pole. …show more content…

Scott was confident enough for his expedition because he was the leader of a well financed and highly publicised Antarctic expedition and more importantly he had the finest technology available and was surrounded with the most accomplished scientist he could find in the world.
