In this article the author emphasized on the role of ANT in implementation of technology in health care research which serves for safer and efficient delivery of clinical services. He explains that technology will have a profound impact if it was implemented in an acceptable way despite its limitations like various health care organizations use different types of technologies which makes decision making complex and undesired outputs. Author explained the role of ANT in evaluating IT in health care in an effective way taking EHR (Electronic Health Records) software as an example. The foremost idea of ANT is to evaluate each how networks are being formed in an organization, play their role as actors forming a network and the way they sustain in the network …show more content…
In this article author showed two ways of ANT-informed approach to deal with executing Information technology in health care settings which are useful conceptually and practically. The conceptual value of approach was through Fluidity of Reality which gave a well-defined picture of various actors and their relationships with other actors. This concept was very well explained by taking a health reform in New Zealand as an example and the role of Actors in that organization ( i.e., Managers, Doctors, Nurses etc.,) , shifting of roles depending on their position over time. The similar sort of shift was observed on EHR introduction as a part of NPfIT programme as a macro perspective. In micro perspective ANT helps in the way how new systems were interlinked in establishing a network of EHR system that helps to overcome the barriers that usually exist in integrating the new technology. The ANT approach can likewise have practical significance for researching the presentation of IT in health care settings. It can be utilized as a tool for focusing so as to examine on pertinent sources that are identified with the
There are a variety of health settings that provide patient health services. With the use of health services there has to be some type of health information exchange or system that will enable users to exchange data. Today there are networks that do this. Some of these networks are Community health information network (CHIN), Regional health information network (RHINO), National Health Information Network (NHIN) and Health Information technology for economic and clinical health act (HITECH Act). The purpose of this paper is to identify these networks, discuss the relationship among each other and lastly, explain their relationship to formation of a patient-centered management system and electronic health records (EHRs).

The production of new ideas spark momentum for thought, the fabrication of machinery paves the way for innovations, and the expansion of human connection has led to new forms of participation. Historically, eras have been defined by the highlights of its period: the Stone Age allowed the development of tools while the Gold Age refined methods already produced to be more efficient in their purposes. If these are the things that define these eras, what has defined the twenty first century? In the later parts of the twentieth century, new technology like computer software ignited the world in a way never seen before. People all around the world were given access to connect with one another through the click of a button, and from there, the possibilities
We are the Ants is a story written by Shaun David Hutchinson. The main character, Henry, has a life that started out broken and continues to break. What I mean by broken is that his dad leaves, his mom does drugs to cope with pain, his boyfriend committed suicide, he is assaulted, his only stable adult has an unforgiving disease, he’s constantly bullied, and he gets abducted by aliens regularly. Henry has to deal with school, past and present relationships, and other people all while taking care of his mental and family problems. Nobody believes the frail, mentally unstable teenager when he says he has been abducted by aliens. The “sluggers” abduct Henry because he is special. They choose him to make a decision that could end the world as
“An electronic health record (EHR) is a digital version of a patient’s paper chart. EHRs are real-time, patient-centered records that make information available instantly and securely to authorized users.” (healthit.gov) The EHR mandate was created “to share information with other health care providers and organizations – such as laboratories, specialists, medical imaging facilities, pharmacies, emergency facilities, and school and workplace clinics – so they contain information from all clinicians involved in a patient’s care.” ("Providers & Professionals | HealthIT.gov", n.d., p. 1) The process has proved to be quite challenging for providers. As an incentive, the government began issuing payments to those providers who “meaningfully use certified electronic health record (EHR) technology.” (hhs.gov) There are three stages that providers must progress through in order to receive theses financial incentives. Stage one is the initial stage and is met with the creation and implementation of the HER in the business. Stage two “increases health information exchange between providers.” ("United States Department of Health and Human Services | HHS.gov", n.d., p. 1) Stage three will be the continuation and expansion of the “meaningful use objectives.” ("United States Department of Health and Human Services | HHS.gov", n.d., p. 1) The hospital, where I work, initiated the HER mandate many years ago. In this paper, I will discuss the progression and the challenges that my hospital encountered while implementing the EHR mandate.
Analysis consists of compiling data that consists of who is going to use the system, what data will be needed to be put into the system, what data will be needed out of the system, and what it needs to do for the institution. In my hospital at this step, our Information Technology (IT) department and some middle management were involved along with NI. Nursing should be more involved here since they are going to be the primary users....

The present environments for healthcare organizations contain many forces demanding unprecedented levels of change. These forces include changing demographics, increased customer outlook, increased competition, and strengthen governmental pressure. Meeting these challenges will require healthcare organizations to go through fundamental changes and to continuously inquire about new behavior to produce future value. Healthcare is an information-intensive process. Pressures for management in information technology are increasing as healthcare organizations feature to lower costs, improve quality, and increase access to care. Healthcare organizations have developed better and more complex. Information technology must keep up with the dual effects of organizational complication and continuous progress in medical technology. The literature review will discuss how health care organizations can provide effective care by the intellectual use of information.
If you had a choice between a burger and a bowl of crickets, I think I would know which you choose to eat. As disturbing as this sounds, in the near future we may not have that choice. With our annual protein consumption rising, and Europe’s protein sources decreasing, coupled with a growing population, we may have only one alternative… Insects.
Healthcare is changing daily and with technology these changes are occurring faster. Health informatics is one of these changes. It combines healthcare, information technology and business. This technology makes it easier for healthcare personnel to access client information and for clients to manage their healthcare.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is reshaping the health care system in the United States at an accelerating rate. In earlier times US Healthcare system was more focused on intervention of diseases, but now it is moving more towards preventive approach and I see Health IT as the most important tool that can lead this change. I strongly believe that my professional goals, range and depth of my experience and knowledge is an asset and my enthusiasm for the field makes me an ideal candidate for the Master of Professional Studies in Technology Management (Health Information Technology) program at Georgetown University.
Personal Story: The Ants that Marched It happened fourteen years ago and I was in the first grade, but I still think about it sometimes. It is the earliest memory I have of ever being cruel to someone. Like most people, I only have a vague handful of memories from the first grade, like the first time I ever saw a hot glue gun, or the first time our teacher showed us a calculator.
Traditional organizational Structure Is known as called a hierarchical structure is similar to a managerial pyamid where the hierarchy of decision making and authority goes from the strategic management at the top down to operational management and non-management employees. In other words, ICT basically promotes professionalism and reduce human effort as well as reducing the chances of erring. Healthcare simply means preventing, diagnosing and curing ailments that terminate life and reduce lifespan of human and all living things. In other words, the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well-being through the services offered by the medical and allied health professions. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) play a vital role in improving health care for humanity. It is efficient in providing, communicating and storing certain information about users and uses. ICT helps in bridging the gap created in health sector and may be used to enhance efficient relationships between the healthcare providers and health researchers. In other words, through the development of databases and other applications, ICT enhances health research and; this provides the capacity to improve health system efficiencies and prevent medical errors. The use of ICT can never be evaluated without
