In her article, "Should Internships Be a Mandatory Part of the College Curriculum? The Answer is Yes", Ms. Landry states that she believes that every college and university should have at least one internship as a mandatory part of its curriculum. She deems that internships are very helpful both to students and to entrepreneurs, stating that internships are exactly what gets “companies to come here, grow here, invest here and stay here”. If students would be required to pay a tuition for a compulsory internship, it could be discouraging for some students, especially for those, who already has a job. There are different ways to solve this problem. Students should not be required to pay a tuition for an unpaid internship. However, an arrangement could be made between the college and the employer to cover any applicable costs of adding an internship.
The LinkedIn page of National Society for Experiential Education contains an interesting discussion about whether the colleges have mandatory internship programs for all their majors. The representatives from several colleges stated that at least one internship is required for their colleges, and some colleges require more than one for all or at least some of their majors. The key to a well-rounded college career is having a combination of experiential education and academic studies. Having the opportunity to dapple into your field of study one year into college is an experience not offered to most students. It allows the student a chance to grow up and join the real world, for six-months at a time. Northeastern University, in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, offers just that to all of its undergraduate students. Careers in the medical field, such as nurses and doctors, usually have to complete an internship to get their license to practice medicine. Even psychologists have to serve a certain amount of time as an intern. Would a doctor be trustworthy is he or she never had any supervised hands on practice? Even if a certain career path didn’t require an internship, it could possibly help someone receive a job and become a better an employee in the long run.

The data did not display any difference in linguistic skills. The results concluded that prior to stuttering there was no difference in the children’s articulation rate; however, the children who continued to stutter produced much faster articulatory movements compared to the children who naturally remitted. Prior to the onset of stuttering, both groups of mothers used a nonintervening style of communication with their children. The post-hoc analysis found that the mothers of recovered children stayed consistent with their style of communicating and spoke in smaller sentences with their children. On the other hand, the mothers of children, who continued to stutter, had developed an intervening style of communicating with their children. These mothers placed more pressure on their children to speak fluently by using more turn-exchanges, pausing less, and demanding more information of their children. This was done using a peer nomination procedure. I had to nominate up to three of my classmates who fit the description of each of the three emotions. Then, I had to self- report my level of academic motivation. Using a 5-point scale, I had to rate my own academic efficiency and enjoyment. Some of the questions included: “How good at schoolwork are you?” and “How much do you like doing schoolwork?” Finally, it was my teacher’s turn to answer some questions. My teacher had to fill out a teacher report to measure my emotion regulation. Using a 5-point rating scale, emotion regulation was measured in the areas of anger, happiness, and sadness. For example, my teacher rated my ability to regulate anger based on how easily I calm down when helped by others when angry. My teacher was also asked to assess my academic engagement in the classroom. Using a 4-point scale, my teacher rated my efforts and involvement toward academic tasks. An internship defined as a formal program to provide practical experience for beginners in an occupation or profession. It’s easy to learn about something in the classroom and take a test on it and move on; but when you actually do the work in the real life, you see that you do not understanding all and how much more you need to learn first. My internship was at ArroGen Advance Forensics; and the internship gave me a lot more than just experience. While I was there I performed many different tasks and learned lots of skills.
