The legalization of prostitution again is becoming a very interesting case. Prostitution is illegal in all but one state. Many people are afraid of the spread of AIDS. James Bovard says, that legalization of contraction sex would be step forward protecting the public from health hazards such as aids. Anastasia Volkonsky disagrees with the legalization of prostitution. She believes prostitution would not produce anything good for women and our society. Volkansky believes that prostitutes are accused either emotionally or physically. The author believes legalizing prostitution would not eliminate negative effects, or keep safe on public health. Prostitution is not a women’s choice, since women may not choose prostitution. Many prostitutes are HIV positive and have AIDS.
Complications that prostitutes have would not be eliminated by the legalization of prostitution. Prostitutes can make little money and suffer physically and emotionally abuse. Having many prostitutes with HIV positive meaning many of their costumers received HIV and AIDS, which are most likely passing it on. Prostitution should not be considered a crime. According to Catherine, it should no be illegal to charge for what can be freely dispensed. “It is estimated that if prostitution were legalized in the United Stats the rape rate would decrease by roughly 25% for a decrease approximately 25,000 rapes per year.” Stated Kirby R for many woman prostitution tends to be the best alternative available. Legalizing prostitution can protect woman and keep them safe. Allowing prostitutes to go for check ups often and take medication to prevent AIDS and HIV.
Prostitution is not a crime. Many women consider prostitution an easy alternative for a job. Allowing prostitution can make women warning as prostitutes feel confortable and go to the doctor often for checkups. Women should be able to do what they want with their bodies after all. They own their bodies. With the legalization of prostitution the rape cases would decrease.
